BSA Gold Star rides to Staffordshire Triumph. Does the BSA feel out of place on this vlog :)

- Problem solved, steering lock works both ways :). A quick ride to Staffordshire Triumph. Come join me for a short ride. 7 month old Gold Star bought for £4999 takes a jaunt across the city of Newcastle under Lyme. A chat about the Triumph Tiger and waiting for the best deals which can save you lots of money (the art of buying expensive T-Shirts) :). A bit about me and what I do for work in the Pharma Manufacturing IT sector, creating drugs for humans and animals. Triumph 400 Speed, shall I buy one? Just a simple ride to give mental support for myself by chilling out for an hour.

Roundabout..... was just admiring your bike !
I bought my GoldStar back on the 1st of March and love it. Being a big chap i did find the rear shocks a bit crashy on the rural roads of Lancashire and North Yorkshire so i bought some uprated rear shocks from Tec for £88 all in. Easy to fit and have transformed the ride and handling, also might get some bar end mirrors to replace the micky mouse ones.
Even though I've had mine about 9 months i didn't know about the lock and my dealer never mentioned it. Perhaps he didn't know, either. Thanks for the tip.
@@ianhalliwell8604 no problem, we learn every day :smile
hi Ian, many thanks for the comment. I weigh in at 13 stone, which is not so light. Mine seem just fine. Admittedly, its not the sports bike of the decade but the suspension appears ok. I have heard a lot of riders do upgrade to the TEC. I may have to consider this. Maybe I am missing something 😆
Glad you’re enjoying the BSA and i recognise the total ride to Staffordshire Triumph being a Stokie myself though I moved away couple of years ago I’m enjoying my Legacy lovely bike and enjoyed your chat 💬
Good one 😊😊
Hi Old School, may thanks for the comment. Good to hear that you enjoyed the video and the commentary and recognised some of the Stokie roads 😆. Keep an eye out for more riding around the potteries 👍

Excellent 😎😎
The bike sounds great, I've wondered what thes bike ran like, I've a Triumph Speed Twin owner myself, and I saw where you nearly got cleared up to! cheers Dave
Hi Dave, many thanks for the comment. baffles out on this one - it's not noisy but does sound a little better and breathes a little easier as well. Speed twin - great machine 👍
That butty bar outside the dealer's does the best bacon and egg baps 😁👍
hi BigBaldyBear, many thanks for the comment. It does and they do taste great. It's always open when I visit and always have a butty.
@@bankruptpensioner me too. Apparently it's compulsory 😁Might see you there sometime 👍
Maybe that car that" was sat there at the roundabout as a car turned left", was in fact checking that there was not an unseen motorcyclist following. I like to see other road users taking a few extra seconds to check the road is clear before pulling out. ( like the white car at the previous roundabout). You are in too much of a hurry mate. Slow down and stay safe.
Hi Brockett, many thanks for the comment. You are right, I should slow down a bit. The problem where I live is there are many confusing roundabouts that are so small, no one knows what to do, and then, people are continuously looking down between their legs at their phones. Maybe its just my local area (which would not surprise me). You point has been noted and I will chill 😄
Royal enfield interceptor does the same with the steering lock..
Hi Tony. Now, I didn't know that!!! Other readers who have an Interceptor, did you realise this? BSA owners, did you realise this before this video?
@bankruptpensioner Hi no didn't realise the BSA did that before seeing your video..
@@tonybland9226 Hi Tony. We learn something new everyday. I came across it totally by accident.
I am with you, the driving standards have significantly changed for the worse. Either aggressive or just plain dumb. I am also an old git but it’s definitely getting worse.
Hi Neil, two old gits :)
Do you think the bsa would make a good tourer
Hi Chris, many thanks for the comment. Firstly, I think most bikes are good for touring. However, I appreciate some are better at touring than others. I bought the BSA to prove that this bike was good for touring. As soon as I get the ECU flashed with the latest firmware, i will be taking the BSA on a tour. Sadly - the panniers from BSA are some £630, so, I won't be buying those. I suspect I will be getting some LOMO throw overs and using them. These cost about £70. They offer enough storage to get me through a week. I also have an Oxford roll bag which can sit on the back seat over the LOMOs. Assuming that level of storage, and that I have also proven that I can get 65MPG at a steady 70MPH, I should be good to go for a bit of a spin. A short test of the BSA is coming up where me and Mark (France tour on Tiger) will take the BSA two up for a night or two in a hotel. Probably ride up to Scotland in the cold weather. I must be crazy 😆. Short answer, the BSA is definitely good for touring..........I think 😆
Different bike the Tiger 900 to the Goldstar, but which do you prefer.
I've got a Speed Twin 1200, and also a Tiger 900. One day I love the Speed Twin the best, another day I prefer the Tiger.
It's like having a great wife, and a wonderful mistress. Very difficult choice, wife or mistress. What's your choice?
Hi Trevor, many thanks for the comment. Both the tiger and gold star offer completely different rides. Tiger is perfect for long distances whilst the Gold Star is great for town work and the nostalgia ride to a café. That's the fun, having two bikes that are at both ends of the scale. That said, a long tour is being planned for the BSA. Mmm.....having two is costly (wife and mistress 😆). I often find the costs of running bikes is much cheaper than the women in ones life 😆.......... and the bikes offer a consistently good ride ‼😆. Terrible humour in this modern day I know 😄
£4995 used or second hand ?
Hi PGGP, this was a used bike from a dealer. The dealer had this bike as a demonstrator, so it was looked after well 😄
@@bankruptpensionerThankyou for taking the time to reply. It's a lovely bike for the money and a cracking deal. 👍
