Thank you for your comment I don't know why the F24 sailed the way they did, you'd have to ask them (BG) However if you look at Tim Poustie's video, also on the Latest News page of my website, you'll see we were trying to sail round a headland below a 1400ft high cliff. So the wind was gusty and often in big downdraughts That's when the bigger boats overtook, but as you can see once back in clear wind we caught up again Richard Woods
I have two G-Cat catamarans. A 5 meter and a 6 meter. They have symmetrical hulls with no daggerboards. Mast heights are 27 and 31 feet. We are looking at the Strike 18 and considering entering the R2AK for 2017. Does the Strike 18 have a daggerboard? Can it be lengthened slightly for sculling oars to be fitted for rowing because the Strike is a bit heavy for one Mirage Drive. We have been doing the Everglades Challenge and the Texas 200 but your trimaran looks like a much more comfortable boat being dry and having some room to sleep on while remaining light and fast.
Thank you for your comment. As you know I have done the R2Ak twice. It maybe better to use email rather than comment here. woodsdesigns@gmail.com Having said that I would recommend the Strike 20 instead, as it has a self draining cockpit and is more intended for racing. The 6m Gcat would work well. The Strike 20 has a main hull daggerboard as standard, the 18 has one as an option, see the Plans Updates section of my website
why is the farrier stepping on the brakes 30 sec in the vid? Why does he blled all the air out of the top sail... 2 head sails look cool but usually one correct size will go much better... other than that quite impressive thor

Wow. Very impressive. Looks like fun.
Thank you. Yes indeed it is fun, fast and easy to sail.
Our Strike actually has cut down 18sqm outriggers, But yes you could also use the Quattro 16 beach cat for outriggers and rig

The mainsail is about 13.5sqm, the jib 5.5sqm and the screecher about 15sqm.
