Main hull climbs nicely over the waves thus seems to have ample volume forward. Very impressed by the dry ride for such a small and fast trimaran. Great design!
Thank you Todd. This is a very special boat that looks after me while still having fun in my 80's. She intergrates much of what I learnt over 70+ years of sailing and designing
Hi Mike, beautiful boat performing amazingly. Would love to build one but don't have time unfortunately. How does the old Haines Hunter tri compare to your design? Get a lot coming up for sale here at cheap pricing.
The W17 is a smaller boat, but being of wood with strong box beams, "feels more solid and drier ... and sails more efficiently than a Farrier." And that quote is from a Farrier owner ;)

Great design!
Smart sailing in challenging conditions, what a beautiful design!

Wonderful footage....is the design available for purchase?
Did you make it yourself?
Yep ... I designed the boat 10 years back, but built one for myself at 78. So much fun!
Designed her at 75 and built her at 78-. Still sailing her at 88. Nothing like her.

I like that storm sail, it's about jib width; you can raise the sail fully without having to reef it... OK!
The Hunter is a funboat .. but the W17 is drier, more solid and more efficient
Several with the same 'time' issue have had a pro build the boat, either partially or complete. Still way cheaper than the much wetter, smaller Astus.
