During 1943 and 1944, Italians from North Africa were shipped to Australia and sent to POW camps, Jarrahdale being one selected. The camp was originally set up for the army at the commencement of the Second World War, then converted to a POW camp, holding up to 200 prisoners.
There remains remnant foundations of a pump house and washhouse/ablution block, remnants of a drainage system and a fireplace chimney of the former mess hall.
    Gleneagle
    Loc 32°17′17″S 116°11′31″E
Gleneagle or Glen Eagle is a locality in Western Australia. The locality is south east of the state capital, Perth, close to Jarrahdale on the Albany Highway [1]
It now remains as a rest stop for drivers.
The townsite functioned as a settlement for forest workers and their families.
It was a locality that was seriously affected by the 1961 Jarrahdale fires.
The settlement operated its own school. Remnants of the townsite including roads and central water tower remain, but the houses have been removed by the government agency upon closure.
The name is also of a significant mining company in Western Australia but the locality and company have no direct correlation.
