I love listening to him talking about stuff like "You want linear algebra? Build your own matrix class." because that's exactly what I've been doing for the past couple of weeks.
Although I never used Java... I believe in you. After 5 years with C++.... yeah it really feels like it is getting in your way to actually achieve any real work.
That doesn't even mean anything. C++ balances improving a language and maintaining backwards compatibility, which is something Bjarne talked about. More than anyone Bjarne has kept that mindset alive in the evolution of C++. You just sound like someone with sourgrapes, who couldn't hack it in the world of C++.
It was first called C with Classes, and as it grew out of that, it became C++. No one claimed it was an entirely new language made completely from scratch.
5 minutes in and it's already gold, thank you world for Bjarne !

What a great person.
Classes are so much easier to understand than user defined types.
Are these slides available anywhere?

C++ ARMY
C++ was nothing more than a stepping stone between the elegance of C and Java. Thrown together by someone who couldn't see the woods for the trees.
Although I never used Java... I believe in you.

C++ started out as a good idea and evolved into a bag of shit. Thank goodness Java came along and saved the day.
Add ing Class and you called it new language hu hu hu
Write C and then write Object Orientated implementation. It is clearly a different language.
