You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
thanks for sharing this project with the craftsman table saw. while i absolutely regret getting this table saw (mostly due to the non-standard tracks) -- it's nice to see content for saws beside the dewalt, delta and ridgid. i see all those craftsman tools -- but was surprised see the milwaukee jigsaw (lol).
I just made a 4’x4’ bench for my 8.25” Dewalt Job site saw, but used Pocket Holes to screw the table top to the support 2x4’s, using the cheapest Kregg Jig. First time use of pocket holes. More time consuming, but cleaner look on top. Retirement hobby, so learning new skills every week. You’re the only other person I’ve found who made a 4’x4’. I like the size, and made it the the Ht. (35”) of my IWORX Pegasus worktable in case I ever need additional support.
Great build….I’m looking to get one done myself. But definitely do that t-track. Also maybe incorporate one a folding arm table extension so you can cut bigger plywoods. Awesome build looking forward to that next diy upgrade

Nice. I have a very old Craftsman Table Saw (as in >60 years) that I've rebuilt a few times and am still using. I love your bench, could only wish I had the space for such a thing! Very nice. ❤

Not too shabby, enjoyed watching you use a level as a temporary fence. Also thought of making a similar style bench.. Think I bought the slightly cheaper version of your saw. I was surprised to discover only one miter slot so will have to leave a slight gap on left side to stabilize miter sled. Hope you left a slight gap in the back so you can still use your fence. If not I'm sure you will solve that issue easily. Wishing you many hours of happy woodworking.

Im surprised so few of the builds have incorporated an infeed table. Even a 6" would be a great addition. Not a criticism. Im just curious why you chose to NOT add an infeed table to your design. I'm in process of deciding how to build a rolling cart for my new DWE7485. Thanks for any insignts.
Btw also have limited shop space, so was considering adding folding side and rear tops for when I need to reduce larger pieces than normal. Thought I'd share that idea with you. 👍
lol i got this saw about a month ago after binge watching some diy videos. i went to go make me a table for it. dont think that should of been my first project :D its tall as hell and basically unusable for any of my saws... the blades are basically in my face :D - i like it tho because its high up, but not good for cutting at all... thinking about making a addon to the side of it that sits lower for the saws... i dunno - yours looks awesome tho! keep the videos coming.... im enjoying your channel
Thanks! And yeah, my original worktable I built at bar height as I thought it would be more comfortable to work at... big mistake. Was difficult to work on anything that wasn't a cutting board, so I cut the legs down a bit. Definitely reccomend having the table saw a little lower to work around

I actually ended up cutting off the tabs in the miter slots to make it easier to make sleds. More than anything, I just found them to be annoying. If you're not comfortable cutting them off however, I'd reccomend measuring the gap under the tabs, then between the tabs, cutting 2 pieces of wood to fit both those areas, and then gluing them together under your sled
I measured out 2 locations, front and back of the blade, and marked it on the table top. Then used a carpenters square to try and keep it squared to those lines. In the end, I think I just made sure it was as squared as possible, with just a slight outward angle to prevent binding on the blade

Really nice job but for a 200 dollar saw I think it’s not worth all that - the lumber and supplies are going to cost double the saw price and the saw is only going to last a couple years especially with plastic gears for raising and lowering the blade
That's fair, the material cost and the quality of the saw definitely puts into question the necessity of this workbench. In my case, this was the only saw I could afford at the time I was starting, and I intended this workbench to serve multiple purposes

The blue guide is a Kreg Crosscut Guide. I think they may have upgraded it since I made the video, but should still be able to find it under that name

How did you build your sleds? The tabbed slots are a challenge when building any jigs.

I left enough of a gap in between the saw and the table top for the fence to slide back and forth freely
