I'm not a farmer even though I grew up in a rural area and did a lot of farmwork with friends and neighbours, but I am just interested in farming of the type you do, not the industrial types. Your presentations are great and so well thought out, while always taking into consideration other people's varying approaches and situations. Kudos and always look forwar to your next ones.
Thanks for the information. We are trying to rebuild AA farm that has been in my wife's family for 100 years but was neglected for nearly half of that time. We are currently running a dozen hair sheep and half a dozen feeder pigs trying to clear underbrush.
You can do it! Those sheep will help I bet. Once the pigs get to that 250 300 pound stage they can do a lot of work though its best in smaller areas moved around more frequently.
@DowdleFamilyFarms What was called the Midwest hybrid. As near as I can tell Hampshire, Duroc, and Yorkshire cross although I remember one Poland China boar.
@@DowdleFamilyFarms maybe 15 years ago my Russian wife introduced it into our regular diet and now we rarely eat rice. Buckwheat has a lightly nutty taste and is packed with vitamins and minerals for us humans also. To my knowledge, it's once food that hasn't yet been GMO'd. Easily found online and in local store shelves generally with international foods. Very cheap too!
Hi Pastor, I had to change my name because UA-cam was unsubscribing me from all the channels. My father used pigs to break up our wooded lots, and we moved them every 20 days, no exceptions...
I brag on this channel to everyone. This man is truly a master of his craft in my opinion.
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Personally I come here to reminiscence. We ran hogs on dirt in Minnesota 50 years ago.
Thank you.
Interesting. What breeds did you raise?

Interesting. I bet that was a good cross.
@@brycewiborg8095 same here. I've been off the farm for 45(ish) years, and out of agriculture for 38. Those were the best years of my life...
Don't be afraid to add some buckwheat into the grazing mix. Pigs love it and it grows fast.
lol. MY last video Why Buckwheat May Become Your Favorite Crop to Grow for Pastured Pigs

That’s interesting. What type of trees did you have? Oaks and other hardwoods or most pines?
@DowdleFamilyFarms Mostly red and white oak, some elm, Pinyon pine, cedar, and a few maple trees. Our pigs went crazy over the acorns and pine nuts.
Do u let your pigs keep their sharp teeth the pointy ones
We don’t remove any teeth from the pigs.
@DowdleFamilyFarms I'm talking about the cuters the sharp one's
Jeremy Clarkson probably should've seen this before starting pigs on his land 😄 would've helped him out.
Thank you!
