The sands of time trilogy will always be a part of my childhood, I remember getting my first computer on 2nd grade and played Warrior Within as an introduction to the series or gaming in general
@@LeoKRogue Agreed, the trilogy as a whole is my favorite trilogy and SOT was the first game I played that showed me games could have engaging stories but Warrior Within has always been my fave and I only hope that if ubisoft ever releases the SOT remake that we can get one for WW too

Yuri Lowenthal plays so, so many roles it's insane. He also voices Sasuke from Naruto in the English dub, as well as a bunch of other well known characters I can't remember off the top of my head right now.
13:22 I must've played this game 100 times growing up but never once did I think to use the time slowdown in this section. Maybe now I can finally do a full stealth playthrough.
Eye of the Storm/Slow-Mo is really strong for all stealth sections, definitely. Use it freely to sneak past people or quickly kill several guards in a row without being seen, it's super fun!
Not blinded by nostalgia. You can play both series right now and compare them in the present. Prince of Persia does some things way, way better than Assassin's Creed, and I miss those things. The rest of gaming doesn't really scratch the Prince of Persia itch, except for rare cases like Jedi Fallen Order, but even that doesn't perfectly represent everything that made PoP so cool.
I first started experimenting with it when I recorded that first stealth highlights video (which this one replaces) and then kept doing it for my entire No Damage No Upgrades run to see how many places let you do it. It's super cool.
They were so cool, yeah. I love the way the level design and movement bounced off each other so well. A design sensibility and philosophy I'd like to see more of, for sure.
If someone told me many years ago that this game would be a spiritual predecessor of my favorite franchise ever, I wouldn’t believe them 😄 Despite me not finding this game appealing in any significant way, I still decided to check out this montage because I know for a fact that you’ll deliver some quality movement and stealth combos. And of course, I wasn’t wrong.
Thanks for checking it out! I know some people didn't want to watch 3 hours of me talking about it and playing the whole thing, so this highlights video was a good move, I think. :D
This game had fun stealth. I couldn't help but notice you didn't kill all guards in the area. Since I usually annihilate them all then I was unaware you could move on from the area without killing them.
I love hybrid-stealth in this game, yeah. :D Sometimes it's enough to just move on to the next area. If they never saw me and they're not really in my way, I don't care about them.
I was actually somewhat surprised you went for a tough double speed kill right before “Kaileena died” cutscene. I usually jump down and run to load it. The 2 guards are even in the background for a second ..
There's an unofficial patch for this game which rolled out this year which fixes some of the key issues like mouse dead zone, proper widescreen & even the glitchy wall rebound section which made you switch to 30 fps. There's a video by the person named Dawid Freeman titled Prince of Persia T2T: The Unofficial Patch 1.4 Update. Try it out if you ever revisit the game in future ...
The PlayStation 2 is arguably the greatest gaming console ever released. It was an era of experimentation & the birth of new genres. But in 3D games, movement was an issue, whether it be Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell or Tomb Raider. It just was in an era of transition & progress. Not until you talk about Prince of Persia. I love the Sands of Time trilogy, & find it extremely lucky as a lover & fan that these games have very responsive movement; & never does it feel that the game cheated on the player. I also love the Hitman series, & I know the pain of controlling 47, where he feels clunky. Absolution patched out this issue, no wonder it's my favourite after Blood Money. The only other game from that era where movement feels good is GTA : San Andreas. Anyways, Prince of Persia may not be a AAA franchise, but for me it will always be special & no wonder, I always keep playing & replaying it.
I feel similarly. The PS2 defined so much of what we think of gaming today, and if I could only play one console generation's games for the rest of my life, it would have to be the PS2 era. There were a lot of cool new ideas happening, as well as some games really starting to pin down what really worked well. So you had this large catalogue of interesting titles, not all of them were perfect but they were all cool to experience.
I really hope they give sands of time the remake it deserves, if it becomes a success then Ubisoft will make warrior within and two thrones remakes. I really want my important childhood games get the modern graphics treatment they absolutely deserve.
ua-cam.com/video/yh1H0nr3-Io/v-deo.html that's the gameplay I'm referring too ... call me crazy but it just woozes an amazing stealth/parkour energy to me ..despite it looking like a prototype of an AC game in another dimension.
I'd like them to do the best they can with that game as well, but I'm putting my hopes away for the time being since it seems like development has basically restarted completely. Judging by how things are going, we won't hear about it for quite some time.
question for the expert: Do you find by any chance that the frame rate affects the QTEs? As a PC player I find certain speed kills to be way off sync - i.e. The animation and button press. Would changing the FPS help?
btw Leo, I was wondering if you would mess around with Mirrors Edge parkour system and maybe make a video on that game..I think that game was a missed opportunity. I watched a 3rd person mod gameplay of ME catalyst and I get the feeling that game has the modern assassins creed gameplay mechanics that we never got from ubi ... it has pop style wall running , wall climbing, sliding and all the good stuff we expect from s new ac game ..I don't get why ubi don't just copy it from mirrors edge and combine it with AC assassination mechanics.. could you look into it a little and give some thoughts about it or something?
1:09 oh so this shit was in prince of persia too): 1:55 this animations are from prince of persia?? So thats why its a little glichy in ac 2:01 vulte? 2:55 it remind me of one of parkour objects in ac2! 9:24 controlled decent?! And diffrent thing is enemies dont give a .... about your actions🤣
Yeah hahaha, speed-stealth was pushed very firmly in this game, they even talked about it a lot pre-release in interviews, when it was still Kindred Blades. They really valued high-speed, fast stealth where you almost never had to slow down, and it feels great, it fits the Prince's character perfectly.
2:19 me playing AC: Valhalla
hahaha, biiig same
hahaha jesus ...

Same. It's amazing how immersive an experience it was, even with those chunky PS2 graphics, which looked awesome at the time
It's the thinking outside the box that always amazes me in your videos.

It does. :)
This was my second fav prince of Persia game back on the ps2. It was hella fun
My second fave as well! One of the better experiences from that era for sure, and defined a huge amount of my taste in games growing up.
This is more AC than recent AC's.
This was the original seed and spark of Assassin's Creed in so many ways, so that makes sense.

Seeing the awesome parkour in this makes me legitimately angry. I don't think I need to explian why.
You don't, Atticus. :[
yea...i thought AC1 was the pioneer, but even before assassins creed these games are more in line with what would be the franchise...
when he sheathes his dagger its the same sound effect as the hidden blade damn
It's pretty similar at times, yeah.
