The TP-6 tailpiece came on the Les Paul 25/50 in '78 and '79. As I remember, it was also available as an option in those years. So there is a very good chance it's factory.

The TP-6 tailpiece was standard on the Les Paul Artisan that was made at the same time as this guitar.
Also the 25/50 anniversary model. Still have mine that I bought new in the fall of '78.

I had what appears to be the exact same Les Paul Custom that I bought new in '78, but without that bridge. Same purple velvet case and everything. I'll confess that I bought it (with my first paycheck containing any real money) because it was so beautiful to look at, and it played really well, . . . but it weighed a ton. I heard later that the 70's Les Paul's were even heavier than average for what was already a famously heavy guitar. Maybe that's so. Anyway, after 40 years I finally traded it in for a lighter weight hollow body with no regrets.

I had a ‘78 Black Custom with a thin 1960 style neck and a very light one piece body which was rare for the time. TP6’s were stock on Les Paul 25/50, Explorer 2, L5S, ES 347, Les Paul Artisan, Active Series Paul and ES , Lucile and RD Custom and Artist.

If I wasn’t paying my taxes today I would have to buy that, it a total gem, it looks like it was never played and it has a great tone! Wish it had the maple board tho!

I shouted you out on my latest vid- I “borrowed” your all eq’s at noon phrase and as soon as it came out of my mouth I felt compelled to cite the author. It’s 2 minutes in on my Marshall DSL100 demo/review!
That might be the original tail piece. They used those on the fancy versions of many of their top of the line models from around 78 to about 84. I used to have a 335 solid body with one. I really liked how the fine tuners worked. Great for correcting tune while playing a chord.

My ‘79 LP Artist with 3-pickups also came with a TP6 tailpiece.

Epiphone came out with a 100 anniversary les paul , and it looks like this one 2 pick ups and for the price awesome!

Jim Davignon not so sure as it’s typically the pancake versions that are the anchor type. My guess around 10-11lbs.

It seems like it'd be easy enough to take that eye sore stop bar off, chuck it in the case for safe keeping, and put a normal one on. But are the studs spaced the same? I dunno.

The TP6 came on a lot of higher end Gibsons in the late 70's, it was a thang back then, the Artisan, 355's etc. Nice guitar though
