    Actually the first step I would recommend is making sure the trims were not hit accidentally. This is by far the most common cause I have seen when helping new pilots. I would also recommend disabling trims to prevent the issue from happening again. The ultimate solution is to have yaw and pitch trims only active if in angle mode. This also frees up unused trim switches to be used as momentary switches.

      good point!

      I actually do use ANGLE mode and would like the trim switches to actually work.

    • @TechnicallyTom
      @TechnicallyTom 4 місяці тому

      @@buddyadkins2432It is possible to configure things so trims work for angle but are disabled for other modes. If you go to the page where you can disable them, you will see that there are multiple configurations. You can have your mode switch activate a line that enables trims only in angle mode. You don’t really need throttle and yaw trims even for angle but you could set them active if you wanted those as well.

      @@buddyadkins2432 Flight modes tab on the transmitter where you turn off trims. Turn off trims on first line. On line below, enable only the trims you need and assume go the switch position for angle mode.

    What a classic radio!

    Had the same issue with my QX7 radio. I when all other channels locked in using the sub trim adjustment, the yaw would still drift. And I nothiced this would happen with all my quads!
    After a bunch of tests, I had to resolder the wire to the gimbal board to get the signal to lock in. Looks like over time friction against the wire cause the solder joint to break down causing intermittent signal.
    Anyway, I haven't had any issue since.

    I have this issue with my Q X7S. I'm confident that it's just dirty, but I've been lazy to clean it because I have mostly been flying sim lately (cold weather). I have noticed that a quick temporary fix is to flick the stick and let the springs shake it around while centering. The only thing I would add is, when you have the radio open, to blow air all around the radio to make sure you don't have dirt lurking in the back that could get in there after you put it back together again.

    The problem is hall gimbals are getting affected by tempareture differences. You can try it out, what you will read on the gimbals inside and outside will be different. And it changes in time as the tx gets hotter or colder with the ambient temperature. It is really annoying. The newer tx's are all haunted by this, Tango 2, Jumper T12 etc etc. The only one that is not affected that I have seen is Taranis M9 gimbals, they stay rock solid at 1500 even with ADC filter off.

    For my TBS Tango 2 I was struggling getting a good calibration on my sticks when I would calibrate them both at the same time. I tried the method where you can do one stick at a time and that worked much better.

    Good info, as always with your videos and i did not know that about the radio on/off.
    I had something similar though not for my gimbals but for my 2 pots on a radiomaster boxer. Now as there is no deadband setting for other channels in inav and they where driving my pan/tilt servo, it was a bit irritating as when centered they would wiggle just a tiny bit my pan/tilt servos.
    After trying different options i found the best solution to create a custom curve in edgetx where you can also define a deadband. Then assign that curve to the channel in question (either on input page or on mixer page depending on where you use it.)
    You could of course do the same for any other Rc channel as an alternative method to doing it in inav/bf, so you have it in your radio instead of having to set it for every quad/plane.
    p.s as you mentioned , specialy for servo channels , adc also works pretty good if the jitters are small.

    Yup, had this issue with my cheap 'n' cheerful BetaFPV Literadio 2SE. The potentiometer gimbals were awful, always had a load of jitter from new and I needed lots of deadband. Eventually the yaw potentiometer failed, after not many hours of use. I fixed it once by spraying it with WD40 and that worked for a while. I eventually replaced the gimbals with their Hall gimbals, incredibly cheaply, and it's been perfect ever since. Zero jitter, zero drift- I've never had to recalibrate the thing.

      To be clear, I only use that radio with tiny whoops, nothing bigger than 3.5" when I use it for travel and leave my Zorro at home. I only trust it so far...

    Mark I swear, I had the same issue with Foxeer F722 mpu6000 v4. I had deadband 7. On the logs the setpoint was at center, not even a sign of drift. Gyro also saw 0 degrees/second yaw drift. But sometimes after arm in a few seconds quad was drifting like 60 degrees. After the drone power cycle the issue was going away sometimes. After a few harsh flights the issue is not there at all. What is your guess? Was that a fresh gyro issue or something? Like after a few crashes the gyro got fixed by itself somehow?

    Hey,
    speaking of random drifiting/ rolling: My Analog FPV Setup has decent range, but sometimes the video in my googles starts to randomly drift to the right and gets black/white sometimes. After a few seconds my Skyzone Sky04X beep once and the video signal is perfectly finde again.
    This happens super randomly, completley independent on how far the drone is away from me... Also don´t think its a overheating issue...
    Any tips on what to do? I need the video signal to be reliable, since i´ll use it for a fpv-job!

    Hi marcos! I have a question, if I manually turn off telemetry on tbs tango 2, does gps recovery not work when my radio turns off or I lose connection to the quad? I decide to disable telemetry because it causes interference with the video!

    • @uavtech
      @uavtech  4 місяці тому +1

      Failsafe detection will still work regardless of telemetry.
      BUT DO CHECK that turning off your radio triggles a failsafe with your quad on the bench (props off).
