What a trimendous video all the old ships of a past day never to return, but only the good ship Waverley remains to this day & it's great to see it in its old colours, l say keep the flag of Waverley sailing on, thanks to the person who made this great video.
It's funny, back then the population of Britain was almost half what it is today (almost 70m), and yet anytime you see old footage of our villages, towns or cities from all those years ago, there are always FAR more people enjoying the outdoors than you ever see today, to the extent that one would wonder if the change in population density weren't' the opposite from what it's become. They were also better dressed, had better social skills and were generally far better behaved!
With all the ships bustling about in 1960, it's hard to reconcile it with just the Waverley as the only excursion vessel now. How did we let it happen? Can those days return?

Loved it. Reminded me of a similar family holiday at Whiting Bay in the summer of 1955, a similar one of hot sunny days.

Quite the inverse - we've just become very soft and lack the joy of life that people had back then.
