    Wow, this interview is an amazing educational experience with historical perspective. Mr. Borden's narrative is so clear and precise that someone with limited experience in benchrest begins to grasp the details that make all the difference. Hoping to translate that knowledge into smaller groups. Thank you Mr. Borden and Erik.

      You know I spoke to him for almost 40 min one afternoon when I ordered my action. And he was telling me about his hunting experiances with his rifles and actions. The best part even if you don't compete, is you can still build your hunting rifle with his actions and they work amazing.

    At 80, here in Scotland, I’m very much aware of Mr Borden from his bench rest days and when we had that excellent publication Precision Shooting Magazine sadly missed, edited by Dave Brennan. Listening intently throughout this incredible interview, it validated why I have so many Borden action rifles which seem to shoot lights out compared with the many others I’ve owned. In particular a Custom 257 Weatherby and a single shot 6.5 x 47 Lapua, the latter built as a hunting carry rifle, which will shoot three consecutive three shot 0.30” groups or more, when I play my part. This 257 WM as a long range tool, completely destroys any criticism or argument against the quarter bore for accuracy etc. I hope, we don’t have to wait too long for another session.

    This was a long awaited interview. Jim Borden is a treasure in the industry. Erik, I started following your channel about 2 years ago. From you I found out about Borden actions, and since I was on the market for the first rifle I decided to build one. I contacted Jim and stopped by his shop, he was kind enough to guide me through a overwhelming amount of options and after almost a year of wait I got myself a barreled action from Jim. This rifle is amazing, can't wait for next interview with him. Great job!

    Absolutely the best Believe your target podcast yet. Sooo much information there that novices, like me, can understand and apply. Always wondered where that extra money between a custom action and a premier custom action went. Now I know. Attention to detail. Gonna get a borden action for an fclass build. Just have to wait to get it.

    Mr. Borden; your toilet paper engineering story madw a lot of sense to me...i did a lot of automation and monitoring work for newspaper production, which not too many people "get", but it's a very high volume business, with even a mid-size operation doing several million per week, with that times Z, number of pages per week, and downtime costing tens of thousands of dollars per hour, so "goodness" of solutions really counts...and, one of my best friends worked as a process engineer, and developed a big process simulation product, so that I can readily appreciate the complexity of the "minimum punch-through" material and process engineering!

      The web site isn't horrible, there's just so much info to sift through. It's like a recipe book having all the info necessary but, with all the different categories of recipes randomly listed with the names of the recipes not delineating the differences clearly. The reader has to to read each recipe to try to figure out if it's a main meal or a desert by reading the ingredients. It's a very easy situation to create in any website simply due to the gulf of knowledge between the creator & the reader, especially when the number of choices is numerous. @@jamesborden7112

    One thing I’d love to know the answer to is why Borden actions don’t have an integral picatinny rail?
    Most modern custom actions have an integral rail, to aid rigidity, concentricity and prevent just one more point of failure from happening (eg screws/pin coming loose). Why does Borden not have integral rails?

    • @jamesborden7112
      @jamesborden7112 7 місяців тому +2

    So, this spiral hone, if i might ask? My guess is that the spiral shape allows it to kind of self-guide across the interruption, and it's kind of self-cleaning, so there's no buildup of material (from 2/10,000 !) .... I've never been shy about asking for advice, there's just no telling where a great idea, or the seed for a great idea, can come from, and you seem like a person who has been an "open thinker", but driven by your own directions!
