Aluminum made radiator is poor at dissipating and heat transference. Technical proven Research has proved that copper and brass far exceed that of aluminium. Plus aluminum radiators cannot be repaired if they develop a leak.
Good information. I came here about the extra ports, concerned about them as I need a new radiator for my standard transmission vehicle and all of the replacement radiators on E-bay have the ports for auto trannies.. Now I will order one. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and informing us all!
Excellent video, guys! This answered all my questions about the transmission fluid ports. And I learned how the coolant flows through the radiator. Simple and to the point!
Thanks a million mate. That saved me doing stupid things to my replacement radiator. I thought they were part of the exfill tank and needed to be sealed. My car repairs cost me $75 doing it myself vs about $250-300 to have it done at a mechanic. So even though I'm in a different country, your knowledge was able to help me get my car back on the road without high expense and hassle. This was a very helpful video for me. Cheers.
Ps... You also convinced me to neaten out the flattened fins (less than 1%) just to maximise airflow.

Got a champion radiator... same thing with the trans line ports. Thanks for the simple video, really had me worried I’d have to find some weird plugs!
Very informative, especially the part where you demonstrate the water in the radiatior.
Thanks you
You answered my question straight up even before I asked the question about the "extra parts"...the (Engine Oil Cooler Line Connector). For the 2016 Nissan Altima. I replaces my rsdiator ane there is no leaks. Bravo to me ya'll. Thanks for sharing.
This is good information regarding transmission cooler
+M Ridware Thanks for the feedback!

Sweet, Thanx so much for the info, was about to take mine back thinking I got the wrong one.. 😆
Best explanation ever 👌
Omfg cleared up my big question thank you!!!! I didn’t want to
Can always count on 1A Auto to explain what a DIY person doesn't know, thank you.
Excellent. To the point. Ive been looking for the reason why my new Specter cu162 has 2 overflows below the cap..the larger one came with a rubber cap that cracked n leaked coolant needs replaced but was looking around to see if it could also be used for a heater hose also idk yet..more parts to fail.

I have the exact same problem. Had the radiator replaced and it has two outlets with one with a leaking rubber cap. What can you use to stop up the hole?
Very helpful thanks..
Thanks for the info
This definitely answered my questions and concerns but I was wondering if it’s was for a intercooler or if it could be
hey nice video. i recently got a radiator thats missing the trans line adapters do you happen to know what thread pitch ect i am having a hard time finding fittings for it. i can get a 6an to start to thread on but the thread pitch is greater than 18 and i cant find anything on the fittings other than generic fittings. PLEASE HELP!
Dudes you saved me a major headache! No need to plug these off apparently.
Can i cap the hole underneath the radiator cap? The location of mine is on the other side of the radiator but it's not the drain. I installed a new radiator and noticed water would come out of it when i flushed it. I compared it to my old one, and it doesn't have that port.
Great video, just to clarify, so since my replacement radiator came with coolant lines and my current radiator does not have those ports, I can just leave them open as they are, no need to do anything with them?
I’m a year late to this video. But let’s say I got a radiator for a 02 Silverado from a another Silverado 99-06 (not sure of exact year) but it’s missing a hole for the coolant line that passes through throttle body. Could I remove the tank from my original and place it on the one I got and it work fine? They are the same size. Just curious before I experiment lol
Very helpful 👌 ☺
You guys are awesome 😎
+Jose Perez Thank you so much!
Very helpful
Thank you!
So if nothing is coming out of the two transition coolants can I not use them if my transition coolant has a separate one.
Where can I get the nozzles for the transmission cooling part? It's the last thing I need for my radiator
what would you use to cap the unused transmission lines?
Thanks for the video
my new radiator came with the hose fitting unattached. Do I need to use and kind of loctite when screwing then on to the radiator?
And plastic is cheaper. They fail more often then the old school copper radiators. I've had all my vehicles fail starting at about 125,000 miles.95 honda odyssey went 1st replaced with a coppet radiater about 15 years ago now has 300,000 miles plus some. 99 toyota rav replaced with a denso radiator. Last was a 2006 subie sti which failed at 105,000 miles replaced with a koyorad all aluminium racing radiater.

thank you man, u r the best!
Are the transmission cooler lines the same on aluminum radiator
So, a leak in the transmission tube inside the radiator would explain the trans fluid in my coolant.
How would a separate transmission cooler work if it isn’t getting cooled with coolant? Just from the fins?
Please help. The lower hose of my radiator that comes from termostat , is always cold it only warm-up minutes after I turn off the car . I Change termostato 2 times and is the same I travel alot and temperature behaves normally . My car is a vw polo 9n 1.4 tdi .
I just installed a new radiator and somehow stripped the bottom import to transmission fluid line and don't know it that can be removed and replaced???? At the moment I ordered a air cooled transmission radiator for $30.00 to by me sometime
Dude thank you so much
Mine came without the adapter fitting for the transmission hose where can I get threaded adapter?
Since usually the thermostats opens at 82 degrees . How does the temperature sensor of radiator knows when to turn on the fan .. how does it time it so accurately or it doesn’t, the fan turns on automatically and independently when the water temperature reaches a certain point..?? I am co fused.
Clutch fans usually hace a temperatura sensor that triggers the fans to activate.
Fan are controlled by temperature sensor, when water reach 96°C and enters the radiator then fan runs on full blast and thermostat is on other side to restrict the flow of water if temperature is below 82°C
What size the cooler like bolt ? 5/16?
Probably a stupid question, but could I use it for a power steering cooler?
Mine has four (4) cooler ports?? Trans cooler is on right, (pass) and teo more on left. What are these to???
I have the opposite problem. My new radiator has an extra inlet/outlet that a smaller hose would go on. Its in the same place as it is on my old radiator but my old one was capped/sealed. The new one isn't and didn't come with a plug
what radiator is that out from?
Thanks.
Great Video Love the Explosion 💥💥💥 lmao
Dude thank you
So if I have a manual and my radiator came with trans cooler ports what then?
Esse servi na Ford Explorer 97?
+Geovane CS This video about radiators is universal and can apply to many different applications. Thanks for the question!
So the transmission fluid gets cool ,but not mix ?
THANK U!!!!
To be honest all these radiators can't get helped when there little air passages are blocked even after there installed in our rides they will eventually get hit with gravel or any debris from the highway I have seen so many of these get so much blocked from the air that cools it down
+Nitrous blast 365 Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
Would have liked to have known how the transmission fluid gets cold inside that radiator
air is a fluid
No you replace thermostat when you replace water pump
Cool dude
