Seth, I've been a still photographer since 1983, shooting everything from war to school board meetings, and I just had to stop by to tell you what an awesome job you did at WW100. You absolutely nailed it, brother. Clare's great-great-grandkids will someday be wowed by those moments.
Seth I believe it is time for me to say thank you Thank you for this video, these moments... even 48h after Jim crossed the finish line it is a delight And since I’m here, with cheerful words, I want to say thank you for the daily inspiration I’m living in the south of France and have found, for 8 months now, the will to go running and trail running as often as possible And these daily “meetings” with you are part of this process Cheers, be well and keep rolling !
Seth you've outdone yourself. I really enjoyed all your Western State coverage and highlights. You've made me want to explore trail running and ultras.
Think about this! The winner finished the 100 miles in just over 14 hours. That's 7 hours per 50 miles, or 3.5 hours per 25 miles. Most people can't run a marathon in 3.5 hours, and he did that 4 times! Crazy!
Yeah, the crazy thing is how quickly he was running considering the terrain. He ran just over 14 hours through snow, mud, elevation, and steep canyons. To maintain that sort of average pace there were periods where he was running under 6 minutes/mile. That's ludicrous.
I can't run a single mile at that pace. On a flat track. Not. One. Mile. (my "sprint" workouts are building up to those mile speeds... not quite there yet ;-) Doing that for 100 miles, in the mountains, is so far beyond the limits of the possible that it's simply astonishing. And beautiful. And terrifying. And fucking awesome. These folks represent the epitome of human athletic achievement - or an epitome, alongside other stunning geniuses of performance. So, so magical to be able to share their triumphs and their wonderful, genuine beauty in sport.
I just watched a vid on the Northface 50 from a few years ago and the winner was at just over 11 hours. Unless I got it wrong, how is this humanly possible. Amazing.
Thanks Seth! You're really setting the bar with this one, high quality stuff. Gonna use this as an inspirational video for the rest of the year! 😁🙏 (some of the footage on Walmsley is nothing short of epic!)
Good Morning Seth! Love love love this video... and Gordie looking over it all and then at you at the end... what a tribute to the whole event! Amazing.
Oh, yeah. The Walmsleys and Dauwalters and Gallaghers and Hazens are cool, but the back-of-the-pack guys are the ones that really inspire me - no sponsors, no interviews on IRunFar, no write-ups in Runner's World. Just the dream and the will.
Incredible footage Seth! You get the footage we all want to see when we can't be there in person! This is one of the best videos we have ever seen of yours. No words were needed throughout this video - you captured all the best moments and all the emotion was felt through the filming of the runners from the first to the last. Epic shot at the end of Gordy Ainsleigh watching the awards ceremony and seeing the emotion on his face. Bravo!
Beautiful video, footage and cutting. Capturing all of the emotions of the runners and the cheers of the crowds with the mix of a background track was just great. It even got me to tear up sometimes. Motivating to see these runners do their thing and to be able to join them, if just for a little bit, on their journey was really cool.
WOW Seth this video was amazing and definitely an award winner! Photography that pays grave attention to the precise look at a human face during stress, pain, victory and joy. The music was perfectly matched and enhanced my emotions. Your love for cinematography and running shined throughout this video. Congratulations and I can’t wait for the next race! God Bless friend!
Damn Seth !! Thanks for getting these out so fast..you must have been grinding on the edits to get them done..it doesn't go unnoticed !! this is EPIC !! thanks again from New Zealand
This already feels like one of the great trail running videos. The sort of video that makes a road runner make those first tentative steps on dirt.....well done Seth
Really wonderful footage - thanks so much for sharing! "Inspirational" doesn't even come close to describing its impact on those of us mere mortals in the depths of merely mortal ultra training programmes... 🙏
Awesome coverage! Between this and IRunFar coverage, I got it all! Jim cemented his WS100 legacy! Would love to hear the back and forth between roommates, Jim and Jared. Epic race again this year!
Great job capturing the footage and editing Seth. I have been a longtime fan of your vids but man you have outdone yourself with this one. I never bother posting comments but felt compelled to this time around. Just amazing and emotional!
I watched this 3 times today...have a minor injury so I can't run today while I rehab. Great stuff as always Seth...I love you reviews but your race coverage is top 3 of my favorites.
Fantastic video. Well thought out and executed flawlessly! Long lens shot galore! I loved the slow mo-turned to uptick video snippets. Well done my friend. Clarity was SICK!
Great job covering the event and providing to us such a close and inspirational approach to this race. Thanks for the hard work! and the channel is already with 20K followers. Keeps growing steadily :)
Hey Seth, I want to say thank you for the AMAZING footage of WS100 last weekend. You did such a wonderful job capturing, I would imagine to be, the best moments of the race. We would have loved to have been there in person, but I don’t know if we could have seen everything you caught on film. You are a super talented photographer/videographer and we can’t wait to see what your next adventure will be. Im so glad “True Love” let you take off to cover the race, tell her we are eternally grateful for wonderful people like you guys. God Bless and keep the good vibes flowing!!! Perla and Grant Shipp
I remember watching this video when you first posted it and really enjoyed it. My favorite part was the final scene of all the young guys on stage and then you pan over to an older, scruffy looking guy staring at the stage from the back of the crowd, looking nostalgic, and i wondered what he mustve been remembering. I had no idea who he was. Fast forward to yesterday after having watched a 2010 western states documentary with the same scruffy guy. Now i know who the fella is and i can only imagine what he was thinking. Had to rewatch this one today. You really captured the spirit of ultrarunning with this one.
Your video motivated me so much, I just want to go outside and run, even when here in Arizona is so hot 🤘🏽😎🏃. Thank you for sharing this experience with us.
Good video. I was probably going to subscribe until you caught Gordy in the awards presentation, then it was a must. That was a golden moment. Good job on the video
So awesome Seth!! That shot of Gordon at the end was pure gold. Such a cool moment.
Jonny Doiron probably my favorite shot of the weekend
True. But don't forget Mrs Callagher at 15:20 - 16:53! This is why we run!

Fantastic!!! LOVED IT! NO dialogue...just CHEERS!!! The "ending" with the OG was perfection!!!!
OG for the win!!!
@@SethJamesDeMoor Oh the stories Gordie can tell!
Seth

Excellent coverage! The best I've seen. As a huge Western States fan, thanks so much for doing this! Excellent, excellent work!😁
Good Morning Seth! Love love love this video... and Gordie looking over it all and then at you at the end... what a tribute to the whole event! Amazing.
Love how you just let the running do the talking. Perfection!
This is going to be my go-to video for if I'm ever in a running rut. My favourite finisher was the 29:59 guy

Crap....I’m not crying ...you are!!! 😭😭 beautifully filmed Seth. Congratulations to all the runners! 💕
The amount of work you must have put into this Seth is simply amazing. Brilliant videos. Well done.
You nailed it Seth, amazing insight, amazing work. If watching this doesn’t get you off the sofa to start running, nothing will.
I like how the Ginger Runner casually makes a cameo towards the beginning. I really liked the video. Very well made.
I love the last minute finishers
This is why I subscribe. This is probably the best states movie I've ever seen. You captured the moments beautifully! Good stuff Seth!
That shot of Gordy was incredible. I thought so the other day - glad you closed with it. Perfect!
I just love this! My favorite parts are crossing the start line then ending with Gordon...... and everything in-between. Just beautiful. Thank you!
