The community of Vanier encompasses three main streets, Montréal Road, Beechwood Avenue and McArthur Avenue. The location of Vanier is east of Ottawa across the Rideau River from Sandy Hill and Lowertown, covering an area of almost 3 square kilometres with a population of over 15,000 people.
The area offers single-family homes, Condominiums and Apartment rentals. Proximity to downtown, the ByWard Market, St. Laurent Ave and the Queensway ensures an easy drive to anywhere in the city. There is a good mix of retail shops, restaurants, pubs, and strip malls. There is also the newly revamped and renovated Wabano Centre which provides a hub for the aboriginal community within Ottawa.
In 1908, the communities of Janeville, Clarkstown and Clandeboye joined together to form the village of Eastview. In 1913, Eastview was incorporated as a town. Because of a large influx of French-Canadians, Eastview became the main francophone area in the capital. In 1963 Eastview became a city, and in 1969 the city was renamed after the recently-deceased Governor General of Canada, Georges Vanier.
Naturally, OC Transpo has stops throughout the region to support public transportation needs. Vanier is an up and coming neighbourhood that is centrally located. Home builders have started building small enclaves for single family homes and condominium complexes over the last few years signalling new and vibrant beginnings for those who choose to call Vanier home.

lmao.... this is Ottawa's worst neighbourhood. The video is very misleading. Unfortunately, this neighbourhood is highly looked down upon by the other people of this city, because it is widely known for the run down buildings, bad main road (Montreal road), drug dealers, alcoholics, homeless, prostitutes and junkies.
