    A lot of real estate agencies lie in their web articles and to clients. It is nice to see one actually spreading truth about bad areas. Although a “safe city” doesn’t really mean anything. Ottawa Toronto Montreal are all 3 popular cities deemed “super safe city” but it really depends where you live. We had lived in the rideau ward area mentioned in the video in Overbrook it was probably the most unsafe we’ve ever felt. Break-in robberies, Shootings, stabbings, drug dealings, gangs, huge rats, roaches, huge arson related crimes, prostitution and drugheads, could go on forever. Anyone looking to move to Ottawa/Toronto do your research on The Project housing areas and stay as far away as possible. Real estate companies try to buy out hoods and built modern houses in poor areas which will make your fancy house a target!

    I don’t really think you know what you’re talking about Realistically, it’s been Herongate not Altavista area That’s a very nice area. Herongate is the gang area where it’s Hetherington Cedarwood Baycrest, Sandalwood Ledbury Farley. All crip areas and all of them rep southside believe me I should know💯 lived there about 30 years

      Hi John Candy, these are from the OPS crime stats. Alta Vista includes Herongate in their stats hence the ranking. You are correct - certain parts of Herongate have been problematic for a long time.

      Thanks for your comment and for bringing up an important topic. It's always good to discuss and be aware of the safety of the cities we live in or are considering moving to. Regarding the crime rate in Ottawa, the most recent statistics show that Ottawa ranks 27th out of 35 cities in Canada in terms of the crime rate, with a national crime rate increase of 5% across Canada in 2022.
      While it's true that crime exists in all cities, including Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal, it's also important to remember that these statistics can be influenced by various factors and don't always reflect the day-to-day experience of residents. For instance, Ottawa's crime rates are 36% lower than the national average, and violent crimes in Ottawa are 34% lower than the national average. In Ottawa, there's a 1 in 38 chance of becoming a victim of crime, and the city is safer than 78% of the cities in the United States. Moreover, year over year, crime in Ottawa has decreased by 16%.
      It's essential to consider these statistics in context and remember that every city has areas that are safer than others. As always, doing thorough research and understanding the local areas is crucial when considering a move. If you're looking for more detailed information about specific neighbourhoods in Ottawa or any other real estate-related queries, feel free to reach out. I'm here to provide honest insights and help you find a place that suits your needs and comfort.

    Ottawa is over taxed and cold

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's true that Ottawa, like many cities, has its challenges, including taxes and our brisk winters. However, many find that the benefits of living in Ottawa far outweigh these aspects. Our city boasts a strong sense of community, vibrant cultural scenes, and incredible access to nature, which many residents cherish. Plus, Ottawa's commitment to quality public services and infrastructure is something we can all appreciate. As for the cold, it brings with it a winter wonderland that's truly enchanting - think of the Rideau Canal Skateway and Winterlude!

    Wards are too large in ottawa to identify neighborhoods with high crime rates

    • @LivingInOttawa
      @LivingInOttawa  Місяць тому

      Thanks for your comment! You're right, the wards in Ottawa are pretty massive. It’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack when it comes to pinpointing high crime neighbourhoods or more specifcially certain streets in Ottawa. But hey, that’s what hiring the right realtor will help navigate this for you.
