The greatness of this scene is that it emphasizes the undercurrents of unease about what was going to happen at the building. No one knew what was going on, but everyone WAS afraid of what might be coming. And the other thing that made it great, was ECTO-1 being surrounded and escorted by the police. It was like the Ghostbusters were finally being accepted and legitimized by the city, and that the city was in its own way supporting them because of what they stood for, and what they were about to do.
Too bad by the second movie they got sued into near oblivion by special interest groups for things out of their control. It took Ghostbusters 2 and the slime to finally get them back into the good graces of the city.
Takes me back to being a teenager in the 80's when I first saw the movie at the odeon ! Just like seeing rocky and we waited outside for hours in a queue to see a film ! Love retro and classic 80's movies and their soundtracks! 👍
When the street opens and the Ghostbusters come out, I get goosebumps every time. Hollywood is having a difficult time capturing that feeling in their films today.
I just noticed......@4:23 the way Ray is explaining the situation to Pete. Pete looks at him, then looks away. But the look on his face gives the impression he couldn't care less. His body language again @ 5:01......its like he couldn't give a damn, the look on his face. Was this just Pete's character, or was Bill Murray unhappy haha! EDIT: On doing some reading up, "One of the main stars of the film, the excellent Bill Murray, was unhappy with the finished film as he felt the effects had taken over and taken much of the emphasis away from the main characters."
It boggles my mind that the scene with the street coming apart is all a life-size set. That whole bit was an actual length of street that they built with hydraulics under the moving chunks. Amazing stuff!
I love both movies!. Omg its my childhood! i remember when i watch on tv in midle of 90s both ghosbusters and real ghostbuster (cartoon) and........ man i miss those days. New ghostbusters movie (with womens) its so bad!. I mean i understand they want make movie for new people who don t watch old parts but its realy bad for me as original ghosbusters fan.
The underdogs always win in this movie, that's why it feels so good to watch Ghostbusters 2, it's like our saviors are back to save us all from evil and destruction.
Notice how everyone's respective religion Catholic & Judaism alike has come together in this classic movie as the Ghostbusters save classic New York City from the Apocalypse. Best movie ever made.👏🏾👍🏾😎💜
I always loved the characters, the music, just everything. But the thing that gives me the most nostalgia is the Echo-1's Siren. It's so Distinctive and Iconic that even in the escort with Police Cars or Ambulances you can still hear Echo-1. Am I the only one that thinks this?
As a kid, I used to love the Ecto 1A. But now as an adult, I notice how too flashy (lights, stickers, signs) it is compared to the Ecto 1. I now prefer the simpler Ecto 1. That's kind of the problem with Ghostbusters 2. It's too flashy compared to the simpler Ghostbusters 1.
Do you feel a sense of dread in your basement or attic, have you ever seen a Spook, specter or ghost, if yes then don't wait another minute, call the ghostbusters, we will believe you.
I can’t think of many movies that are flawless, but this is one of them. It’s been called “lightning in a bottle”. Ghostbusters was an absolute phenomenon.
I like that Peter in the first one was hamming it up to the crowd but in the 2nd one there’s a baby in danger and he’s all business. Maybe that’s just my head cannon lol
I don't mean to be a party pooper, but that was most likely the National Guard, which in real life, get called in during times of extreme emergency (examples are natural disasters like torandos and floods, as well as giant riots where the police cannot handle it on their own) and judging by the events that take place during the "saving the day" seen, they made the right call in sending the National Guard in
also the military may need to support the ghostbusters in fighting esp if they have weird huge beings etc which might need tank fire etc, plus its the 80's when you have the armed forces assisting
@@Squicx you might say many things about Venkman but he is the heart of the GB just as Ray is. He was the first to shoot his proton pack in the suicide attack on Gozer and also showed time in the cartoon series too how he would die in the line of fire for his family
God, do I miss this kind of entertainment! Funny how so much talent and care went into these 2 hour windows of imagination that the end results seem so effortless! Don't forget the mythos built around these worlds, as well. From the animated series, video games, fan fiction, even the 2016 version (hate on it if you must, but it's still sanctioned by Columbia Pictures.) We'll always have different opinions, but if a story is told right, we the viewers will always want to be engaged. Thank you, Harold Ramis for getting together with Dan Ackroyd and bringing this baby to life!🇵🇷🇺🇸😎
Funny how attention spans have changed. Ghostbusters was my favourite movie growing up as a kid in the early 90s and I thought this montage was so cool because they had a police escort with the army. Then a police car on a hydraulic lift rolls down a slight hill. Coolest thing ever. Now you go to movies and see ginormous explosions and literally everything imaginable with CGI and I just yawn at it.
I'm not sure if it's in the actual song, but that vocal reverb effect at 0:33 with a shot of the dark clouds coming from the building kind of has this ominous undertone I always liked. The song is upbeat with everyone cheering, but that small moment subtley points out the danger they're heading into isn't to be underestimated.
One of my favourite films ever since childhood. I took a trip to New York in 2003 when I was 16 and I got to see many familiar sights from the movies. I like watching many 1980's era movies. I also take note of the cars used in films as I'm quite the car fan. The police car that rolls during that earthquake scene is a 1977 Dodge Monaco, nice looking police car in my opinion. The blue and white paint job of the NYPD cars looked a lot nicer than the current design if you ask me. In my opinion, they should of kept it as blue and white, it makes the cars look like proper police cars. And the 1980's era uniforms look very smart too.
I remember being 6 years old when I saw this on TV . I was in TEARS after the ground swallows up the GB cause I thought they were dead . There was a commercial so my dad had to talk to me and convince me they were not defeated that easy ! My dad died 22 years ago and I miss him more every day .
This...and the 1996 Chicago Bulls Chicago Stadium introduction with Alan Parsons Project music.......i don't know which one jolts more energy into the soul.....
I've seen GB since i was very little. I used to have one of the Light Blue GB Tshirt's, i wore that thing out till the design was starting to come off. I also got to wear it in my Kindergarten class picture; i had forgotten to tell my mom it was picture day lol. I have the ecto 1 in my one tattoo of everything i love .
That extra with the neon hair in :46-:54 is the most excited extra ever! *looks up at Gozer temple and mouths "Oh my God"* *notices Ecto-1 and jumps up and down while clapping, like he's doing the Snoopy dance* He even gets a line later. ...He's up there with the extra in Batman Returns that got picked up on audio going, "Batman, AAAAHHHHHH!"
I swear, when that street came to life it was like, now do you believe in ghosts? What’s sad is the part 3 will pick up 30 years after the last ghost sighting so it will appear to many as a legend.
As weird as it sounds, these two scenes made me become a paramedic
So you savin the day? I salute you sir
Godspeed to you, sir.
Wtf
It’s ok, Kindergarten Cop made me become a prep teacher. 😇
Love all of you.

Love this comment. Describes it perfectly.
Too bad by the second movie they got sued into near oblivion by special interest groups for things out of their control. It took Ghostbusters 2 and the slime to finally get them back into the good graces of the city.
Pure gold entrance with amazing soundtrack from the brothers who made this .. perfect for the busters saving New York! Excellent 👍

Absolutely 😁💯
The best "shit's about to get serious" scene in movie history...
Rabbis make it serious
"Shit just got real".
I never had a way of describing these type of scenes but they've always been my favorite
This is how I'm describing them from now on😂
The way the mayor says “somebody get me the ghostbusters” is just perfect.
Pete soaking up the glory with the crowd and Ray vicariously enjoying it while trying to get him to focus, pure gold.
Being a little kid and wanting to be Pete Venkman. Oh the nostalgia
Growing up and realizing how f*cking sexy Bill Murray was in this movie! :)
Me too!
Really? I always wanted to be Egon
Well there's so many holes in first avenue, we really didn't think anyone would notice
Great peter venckman!
Doesn’t get better than this. New York City, people cheering on the ghostbusters, and killer soundtrack
"On Our Own" is such a feel good song, i bought movie last year after hearing that song
4:08 - 5:11 Bobby Brown "on our own" song was a perfectly fit for that scene really badass
Man, this movie had such a massive impact on me as a kid. Still brings up the same feelings now. Crazy!
Amen
To me, this was the most badass "we are coming to kick ass" scene in the 1980's when I was a kid. Gives me goosebumps every time.
The scene when Ecto-1 had the siren and lights on and hits the corner is such amazing filmmaking.
When ecto drove up in front of the museum i got chills 😍
mrFalloutFan95 same
mrFalloutFan95 its a great song.
Hell yeah
"WE BELIEVE YOU"
Oh damn me too! For bkth films
This scene shows that in times of trouble or chaos or turmoil there is always hope.
I imagine that's why I'm a fan of Ghostbusters and Batman, they always manage to give hope in chaos.
Always loved the national guard guys getting all motivated charging and running ! The 42nd division to help the ghostbusters!
When the street opens and the Ghostbusters come out, I get goosebumps every time. Hollywood is having a difficult time capturing that feeling in their films today.
I love seeing the classic 80's NYC police cars in this scene escorting Ecto 1. Such an epic scene
I don't know about anyone else, but 4:08-4:30 always had me hyped as hell watching this movie.
Same here man
Legit butterflies watching this scene everytime. You know you did well when you view the Ghostbusters as heroes

Best scene ever!

Looks more realistic than the cgi crap used today.
Saving the day is just superior in every way.
R.I.P Harold Ramis 2014 😢
Thank you!
And let’s not forget David Margulies. He died in 2016!
✡✝️🛐
Egon was my favorite character he was smart and about that action
He rolled in his grave during 2016.
He'll weep for joy in 2020.
I loved these guys SOOOOO much as a kid and now I am almost 40 and I STILL LOVE THEM!!!!!
Always will love the sound of the siren from the Ecto 1
The original will always be the best....period!!!!
Yes...always be a classic......love this movie... everything is still original
The 1st is definitely the best but 2 is still amazing in my opinion
GB 2 Is the Best.

That 80’s synth 😍😍😍... ‘hello New York’ 😁

Always loved those two Ghostbusters songs. Classic 80s stuff.
Dan Aykroyd must have thought this was a pleasant change of pace, getting escorted by police instead of hundreds of them chasing him through Chicago.
Hah hah! Nice one 😉😉😉
I don't get it
@@TeddySparkles i dont get it either

Always loved the part at 3:40 when they put their hands together just the way a sports team does before starting the game.

Amazing scene and the ecto 1 cadillac is gorgeous
The BEST scenes EVER!
I can watch them in repeat all day!
Lord, the nostalgia. Can't wait for the ACTUAL third film. RIP Egon.

Nothing more beautiful or hopeful in the world, than to hear that siren in the distance!!!
Nope. Ecto-1 has and forever will has class.
"Chills" These guys were my heroes growing up 😊
This was my favorite part!
That song was right on time. ✔
I just love Ghostbusters!!
On Our Own might possibly be the best "to the rescue" track to play. i'm surprised no Football team ever came out to it.
As a kid, I used to love the Ecto 1A. But now as an adult, I notice how too flashy (lights, stickers, signs) it is compared to the Ecto 1. I now prefer the simpler Ecto 1.

Melhor parte do Ecto passando 4:28
The day the world was in danger, the people prayed, the army came, the cops rode, the Ghostbusters arrived!
It all started with 4 brave men.
I like that Peter in the first one was hamming it up to the crowd but in the 2nd one there’s a baby in danger and he’s all business. Maybe that’s just my head cannon lol
I always imagine that little Carol Ann & her family (Poltergeist) could've really used THEIR HELP!!!😃😂
Hairs on the back of my neck still stand up. Going on 30 years.
The two Ghostbusters films bring back great memories from my childhood in the 80s. I still got the two Ghostbusters films on dvd.
I have to the films on dvd too
Has anyone noticed how pissed Venkman looks during the whole scene when Louis is explaining what happened to the baby @4:10?
Uh, considering it involved his somewhat girlfriend and a kid he was obviously quite fond of, should anyone be surprised?
Somebody get me the Ghostbusters.
The army shows up to fight ghosts. I love it.
CoLeMaWeSoMe the army was just there to protect the Ghostbusters!

Nah they were heading off to go fight cloverfield.
Among the soldiers was Sgt. Hulka
This scene jogged so that the Avengers Portal Scene could sprint.
people hate the ecto 1a, i personally love it.
You can tell Venkman is genuinely pissed and angry that Vigo took Dana and Oscar, he is not saying a word and he quickly suits up as fast as possible.
proof that he loves both of them with his heart. no matter how sarcastic and bored he may be, he was the first to catch oscar
