modified german equatorial mount to alt azimuth celestron CG-3

this is the Celestron cg-3 German equatorial Mount the one that comes with the astromaster 130 Newtonian and maybe another particular telescope these particular mounts tend to slip in the more they slip the worst that they get and the knobs don't have enough diameter on them to properly torque them down and lock the telescope into position anyway I'm trying to make the best out of the situation of a second-hand abused EQ Mount and we've taken the grinder and modified this so that it will sit straight up and down in the alt-azimuth mount position or the dovetail will be in the correct spot for me to mount my other telescopes

i have a cg3.. tightened it all up and put a motor on it.. with minimal work the cg3 is a good low end mount.. especially if mounted on a pole thats cemented in the yard. its not the best but its not as bad as most Tesco or other eq mounts that are floating around.. i like mine for now especially with the logic drive..

I did that with my CG-4 except I didn't have to grind anything just set it on zero degrees and take off the counterweight bar as it is just in the way.
