Hey Anthony I would love if we got LDU or Matt Rowell next year I think it would be great move to get him to Collingwood next year I hope it happens Go Pies
Let's stick to Moneyball tactics. That's what got us the cattle for our 2023 flag. Paying big bucks and giving up top shelf trades for a man on a pale horse is a long shot used by too many clubs who then end up empty handed - no flag, no cup.
Great summary Anthony. Obviously this is wishful thinking in the extreme but stranger things have happened. Should LDU become available I would suggest that there would be 17 clubs chasing him but of those 17 clubs, one would be successful so why not the Pies? Apart from salary, Collingwood can offer a lot more than most clubs so why not? Another thought is that Petraca will likely be available which is a similar scenario. Petraca can't offer the same number of years before he retires but he can offer a fair smattering of raw talent, far greater than most.
We took a first rounder last year in DeMattia and McGuane will most likely be a first round next year so we have no problem with that aspect. Ideally North finish last and they won’t match because they’ll get better compo from the AFL than any trade they’ll get. I like LDU but his injuries concern me a bit especially knowing it’ll be a 7 year contract. But what a midfield it would be.
Great point in mentioning that they might not match the offer as comp will be more auspicious for them, as they'll likely finish bottom 6 again. Thanks Billy!
Hey champs, would be great to get LDU, but I'm worried it would cost us too much with his value & giving up picks in the draft. How about Matt Rowell from GCS? Would we be in the same boat with him as LDU, if he wanted to leave GCS?
Isn't he captain of WCE now? Can't see him jumping ship like the other dog did. Although should he find his way to us - how do we fit him in next to Mihocek, McStay, Membrey and Cox? Suddenly we are too stacked for KPFs?!
@@shmick6079 true, but if you are Allen - do you wait for this to happen, or walk straight to Whorethorn in 2026, where you are #1 forward from the get-go?
If North match our offer, a trade is forced. In the Australian Football League (AFL), a restricted free agent is a player who is out of contract and meets the following criteria: They have played for their current club for at least eight years but less than ten They are in the top 25% of highest paid players at their club They have not previously had restricted free agent status
Bro, surely you need to make a conversation video, and compare Matt Rowell to LDU. Either would be a great fit, and it means we would be needing to hand over both our 1st Rd picks for the next 2years. I would take Rowell, as he is from our breeding ground, the Oakleigh Chargers and he has won premierships with Daicos and co… Hes a deadest hard nut. Just what we will need to replace Mitchell
Now that's a player spending a million dollars on......not some average bloke from gws with average kicking skills. $600k would've been more than enough
Pies can’t afford to give up both 26&27 first rounders as they need to get points to cover for McGuane, it’s going to be harder next year compared to previous years.
Sorry guys I completely got my words wrong regarding the Total Player Payments (see 7:24)- The increase is roughly 3.5 Million from 15m to 18.5m.
It's unders, but i'll take one for the team
Let’s go champ!
DOID CHAMP! Slurp.
Bro champed him
Welcome to Collingwood
Getting ldu would be absolutely insane

I reckon I will go through a bunch of players the pies can consider next year! including the likes of Trac, Rowell etc.
Rumours are that hawks are going to go hard after LDU also. For me Matt Rowell looks as an easier get. Either one is awesome
Fingers crossed!
Yep apparently grew up a Whoreks fan, so this will have shit-fight written all over it, if he chooses to leave Pauperoos.
get in ldu as a generation rolls royce or bring in a bull in rowell any one of then i'm not complaining
Agreed mate

LDU is excellent but cannot see how we could get him, even if he is a RFA
I’d rather use two future first round picks in 25 26 and 27 for mcguane
McGuane won't cost anywhere near that price. Probably a couple second rounders, depending how well he goes in his draft year in 2025!

I’ll have a look at Rowell as well and make a video! Thanks Melissa!
As a North fan, I thought this was a very well balanced view on LDU and what will be a very interesting decision for him and the club!
Thanks mate! I try my best to stay across other teams.
Collingwood’s 2025 shopping list
Luke Davies-Uniacke
Thomas McGuane
2026 siddy out LDU in 😢😅
Would be a great get as a free agent. But wouldnt trade for him.
Didn’t I say in the draft video that we might get someone big…
Watch this space
The salary cap certainly allows the idea to brew!
@ my source is from clubland 👌
IDU a pie in 2025
What about Oscar Allen? Do you think he would be on our radar next year?
Apparently, he has a degerative knee.
Next video, Luke!

@@AndrewDyson-u2uCox, Membrey, Checkers all aging.
Wouldn’t surprise me if each retires in that order over the next 3 years.

Why would we need to give up multiple 1st round picks? Didn’t you just say he’s a restricted free agent?

They have played for their current club for at least eight years but less than ten

Most sides don't match as with LDU the compensation would mean a first round pick, which given North's record would be top 5.
Oh I get it now, thanks!
This bloke is an absolute clown and talks absolute shit
We need to spend those picks on oscar allen
Ps bro, Rowell is a 6yr Non-Free Agent vs LDU an 8yr Restricted Free Agent. Not sure what the difference is between their status
LDU is Hawthorn bound - take that to the Bank!
LDU 😍

Definitely a valid point but hard to surmise where McGuane will land in the draft. His range could be anywhere in a midfield deep draft next year.
@ Pies aren’t going to take the chance of them not being able to match for him, He will at worst be a top 40 pick player
Geez, Pies Fan UA-cam is rough
haha how do you mean.
North will finish on top of Collingwood in 25😂
Huge call!
