नमस्कार मित्रांनो.. या वीडियो मध्ये आपण पहिल्यांदा भेट दिली आहे मुंबईतील जगप्रसिद्ध अशा धोबीघाट ला. हे केवळ जगातील सर्वात मोठे मैदानी लॉन्ड्रीच नाही तर ते भारतातील सर्वात मोठ्या लॉन्ड्रीमॅन समुदायाचे घर आहे. वर्षानुवर्षे, धोबीघाट हे पर्यटकांचे प्रमुख आकर्षण बनले आहे, विशेषत: या परिसरात फिरणे आणि समुदायाबद्दल अधिक जाणून घेणे आवडते अशा परदेशी प्रवाशांसाठी. धोबी कल्याण आणि औद्योगिक विकास को-ऑपने लॉन्ड्री सुरू केली आणि 2013 मध्ये धोबीघाटाला वर्ल्ड रेकॉर्ड इंडियामध्ये स्थान देऊन गौरविण्यात आले. येथे 5,000 हून अधिक कपडे धुण्याचे काम करतात आणि घाट आता जवळपास 200 कुटुंबांचे घर आहे. मुंबईतील रुग्णालये आणि हॉटेल्सचे कपडे येथे धुतले जातात, त्यातील 100,000 हून अधिक, दररोज. ब्रिटिशांनी 1890 मध्ये धोबीघाट बांधण्याच्या कामास सुरूवात केली. हा धोबीघाट बांधून पूर्ण होण्यास पाच वर्ष लागली. बांधकाम करताना कपडे धुण्यासाठी 731 वॉश स्टोन आणि कपडे सुकवण्यासाठी जागा ठेवण्यात आली. देशभरातील पहिला असा हा मुंबईचा धोबीघाट पश्चिम रेल्वेच्या सात रस्ता चौकात महालक्ष्मी रेल्वे स्टेशनच्या बाजूला आहे. पश्चिम रेल्वे तसेच महालक्ष्मी स्थानकाच्या उड्‌डाणपुलावरून दिसणारा हा धोबीघाट सर्वांनाच आकर्षित करतो. पर्यटन स्थळ म्हणून प्रसिद्द झालेल्या या धोबीघाटाला भारतीय आणि विदेशी पर्यटकही भेट देतात. घड्याळाच्या काट्याप्रमाणे पळणाऱ्या मुंबईकरासांठी धोबीघाट मूलभूत गरजांपैकी एक गरज झालाय. दिवसाला सुमारे लाखो कपडे धुवून देणाऱ्या धोबीघाटाची नोंद गिनिज बुकमध्ये झालीय. मळलेले कपडे पांढरेशुभ्र करून देणाऱ्या याच धोबीघाटाला अनेक सुपरहिट चित्रपटांमध्ये पाहिलं असेलच. पण, या धोबीघाटचा इतिहास काय? तो का आणि कधी बांधला गेला? धोबीघाटमधील काम कसं चालतं? किती मजूर येथे झटतात? त्यांच्या कामाचं व्यवस्थापन कसं असतं? मुंबई महापालिका धोबीघाटमधील धोबीवाल्यांकडून दर महिना भाडं का आणि कशासाठी घेते? याविषयी सर्व काही जाणून घेऊ. धन्यवाद
Hello Everyone.. In this video, we have visited first time to Mumbai Dhobi Ghat. Dhobi Ghat is an open air laundry in Mumbai, India. It was constructed in 1890. There are rows of open-air concrete wash pens, each fitted with its own flogging stone. Claimed to be the world's largest outdoor laundry, Dhobi Ghat is a very popular attraction among foreign tourists. It is located next to Mahalaxmi railway station on the Western Railway suburban line in southern Mumbai. It is also accessible from the Jacob Circle monorail station. It is near Saat Rasta roundabout. The Dhobi Kalyan & Audhyogik Vikas Cooperative Society, the apex body that represents washermen, estimates the annual turnover of the Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat at around Rs 100 crore. For 18 to 20 hours each day, over 7,000 people flog, scrub, dye and bleach clothes on concrete wash pens, dry them on ropes, neatly press them and transport the garments to different parts of the city. Over one lakh (100,000) clothes are washed each day. Some of the wealthier dhobis have given up on manual cleaning and have now installed large mechanical washing and drying machines. The dhobis collect clothes from all corners of the city, from Colaba to Virar. Their biggest clients are neighbourhood laundries, garment dealers, wedding decorators and caterers, and mid-sized hotels and clubs. Dhobi Ghat garnered a Guinness Book of World Records entry under ‘most people hand-washing clothes at a single location’ in 2011.
