To add to this, in 2023 I've spent around $6500 AUD and I have got everything I need, 95% is OEM Brand new and I went for a cushion button clutch as well.
2100 for the box? you can get them new for 3k from a toyota dealer in melbourne. For those playing along at home, the brake pedal is 70$ to your door in australia. Will take a bit to get from japan those (est january if sent today)
Hey man, you mentioned you had some leftover parts from the swap. Looking to build a manual conversion kit and I'm based out of Melbourne. Lmk if you wanna sell
Hey Rex, can you feel the power difference between manual vs automatic. I have a 1j with auto in my MB W124 and thinking about doing the swap...I can still feel the power of the auto.
my r154 swap cost about the same i got the whole swap kit for 4k for parts including a dcs ceramic twin plate then got the shop to install it for like 850, also had to get a tailshaft done as my car is an is200 not a jzx
Thing is the the GM tremec boxes can handle more torque So if your looking at big power they are worth it But if your doing to save money on future replacement boxes it’s a waste of time now T56 boxes have jumped up in price as have LS engines during 2020 Used to be able to get a cheap unregistered vx ss sedan for fuck all Now they are very expensive for what they are
mate mines gonna be 8k nzd but thats brand new your cost is nothing don't worry I'm the one crying but then you look at Gtr builds or drift builds and they put like 30k into there cars so that helps my depression
@@glenboult3306 yeah I’ve got that quote. That’s for a Jzx100. For Jzs171 they didn’t give me a definite answer as apparently it may need a lil work and I tried to include a conversion foot brake to handbrake (e-brake) Was wondering if it’s cheaper elsewhere. Might wna try do it myself one day with some friends 🙏🏽
Without installing... also don't include tunnel cover but does include clutch. Another of the items are easy to find cheaper like the bolts ect... their price for a gear knob was 180 for eg
That power loss with ATM is nonsense. I can name several cars that came with both. MTM and ATM. Everything was the same on them except the transmission and the ATM was quicker. Why? Because it had a different gear ratio. Your chaser (if it is actually faster) can be faster only because the manual has a different gear ratio. Not because of some kind of a nonsense power loss due to the transmission. It's just not how it works. (Equally nonsense thing coming up. What if someone says that the MTM is slower because it has physical contact which causes more friction? More friction ends up in being slower. xD Nonsense, just like what you said.)
Your comment about power loss due to slippage in the fluid coupling ignores a little thing called a locking torque converter This was invented roughly an eternity ago, possibly even two eternities. Did your information on this subject come from the same friend who can be seen in the video.putting on a mask but not having it in exactly the right position? Either way, I recommend doing more meticulous research in future for both of you. BTW, Australia is one of a small handful of countries where COVID-19 is being handled effectively right now so I hope you feel very fortunate. (Would saying handful of countries necessarily imply extremely large hands? I just don't know.)
It should be said that your comment is a little anal. My 1998 E-class which isn't quite an eternity old does not have a locking torque converter and it is my understanding that not all 6th Gen Toyota Chasers came with a locking torque converters either, only certain Tourer V models. I don't know if Rex's harmful admission is really worth a hateful comment.
@@jamesoxley2621 First of all, I commend you for rising to Rex's defense in the face of what seemed like an ill intentioned comment from me. You're a good guy. The tone I was looking for was good natured and tongue in cheek which I would have made clearer with an emoji if I had been thinking more clearly. I did end with a joke but that was apparently not sufficient. Moving on, I'm pretty sure my '94 Camry has a locking converter so I simply assumed they were universal by that time. Thank you for keeping me honest but let's avoid references to biological functions from now on. ;-)
this is awesome mate, I'm thinking about doing my crown wagon, now knowing roughly what i need and cost I'm definitely considering cheers.

Im thinking about buying a chaser but its auto😅
not bad considering you could buy a very tidy auto 110 for around 20, under 30 could have MS, coils and a nice set of wheels.
i love "how much i paid" videos, thank you for this
5k doesnt seem to bad for parts! how much would having the labour done at a shop set you back i wonder hmmm
I bought a brand new R154 for my TMII JXX90 and I'm glad for that
Love the chaser and the mr2.keep on griding and here to support.🇸🇨

Hey Rex I got a jxz90 auto and I already got my manual gearbox do you know where can I find manual console shifter. Im from Sydney
Cheers
The center disc in that clutch be smackin
That’s also 1200$ off it because you can get a good clutch to handle to power for 500$ so the price is more like 4.5 ish
Rex and redbull 😋
way better than paying 25k for a stock manual car with high mileage
When will your new shirts come out Rex? Keen to get your new white one like you had in the last video. Cheers dude...
How much was the labour? Thanks for all the details, great video
Nice video and Toyota Chaser very good price on the manual swap 10\10😄😄😄😄😄😄
I got a ORC twin plate in my mark 2 and its louder than yours 🥵 every car meet got people looking at my car for the wrong reasons 😂
FB MARKETPLACE #1 !!!!!!!!
Hey man, you mentioned you had some leftover parts from the swap. Looking to build a manual conversion kit and I'm based out of Melbourne. Lmk if you wanna sell
So how much was the total cost to swap the transmission???
Hey Rex, can you feel the power difference between manual vs automatic. I have a 1j with auto in my MB W124 and thinking about doing the swap...I can still feel the power of the auto.
With the r154 you are involved more into a driving. Total difference between manual and automatic
the old ceramic twin plate rattle

How much did the chaser cost?
my tr6060 conversion using CRS kit cost me about 11 - 11.5k total using all new parts with labour included

Cool carr men
Jesus, I got a stage 1 clutch for my Celica 2zz-ge for like 150 dollars. Chaser is expensive I see... Love your car btw!
No, the carbon isn't real sorry to say. However I'm amazed you got that shifter surround for $150... They're $300+ in NZ lol
Sickkkkk video 💪💪
hell yeah benkispec.com!!!!
Thats lowkey more than my Tiburon is worth 😅

Where abouts dude? I want to do one on my jzs171

Twin plate clutch owner , normies telling you have a problem with your car , “needs oil mate “

no it definitely loses more power with a torque converter lol
Exactly. The A340 is a great transmission.. A manual swap is not worth it.
its real carbon.
The answer is always to much Rex, to much
I was hoping it'd be "how much i paid for my chaser." not the damn swap lol
lol wut, manual swap 300zx 1600£
That's cheap for a manual swap hah
prob about 4.5 k
