Cruijff's penalty was better executed. Jesper Olsen had two options, where Suarez only had one option because Messi was offside. Johan stayed behind the ball. Smart!

At the time Cruyff said: it was almost Christmas time, so I wanted to treat the fans to something original. So he took this penalty (which he almost never did). I do believe Ajax was quite ahead of Helmond Sport at that moment. He wouldn't have done it when it was still 0-0
When the took the penalty Ajax was 1-0 up.
The game happened on december the 5th, wich is Sinterklaas in the Netherlands.
Something like a Santa Claus, an old person who gives away presents to the children. So that might be a more logical explanation, if Cruyff had said that he would give away something to the fans.

The defense didn't understand anything that was going on because that was genius, he didn't even take distance before giving the pass.

when the ball passes the last defender, the offside line to be the ball. that's why there are moves where the player plays to the side, even with no defense.

It is, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. A penalty always needs to be taken towards the goal, so 90 degree sideways or backwards is not allowed. The first player can not touch the ball a second time before the ball has touched something else, or someone else touched it. The second player to touch the ball has to be outside of the penalty area on the moment the first player takes the penalty. Both players have to stay behind the ball at all time to prevent offside.
