Remember the shelves of your local video store? Those days aren’t gone! Reject reality and substitute your own with Arrow Video! In 1983, entrepreneurial producer and director Charles Band founded Empire International Pictures, which would go on to make some of the most memorable and beloved genre movies of the 1980s. Empire became a mainstay of video stores across the world with their catchy titles, outlandish art and Band’s wholehearted belief in giving audiences a good time.
In The Dungeonmaster (AKA Ragewar), computer programmer Paul Bradford is sucked into a fantasy world by Mestema, a demonic sorcerer in search of a worthy opponent. Meanwhile, fresh from the one-two punch of Re-Animator and From Beyond, director Stuart Gordon takes a turn toward fairytale gothic in Dolls, in which a group of strangers find themselves forced to seek shelter at the isolated home of an old toymaker and his wife, only to find that the puppets and dolls have a vicious life of their own. In Cellar Dweller, a comic book artist (Jeffrey Combs) with a penchant for the macabre takes inspiration from an ancient tome and unleashes an ancient evil. Arena presents the ultimate fight night event: man vs monster! In the far future of 4038, a short order cook becomes the first human in fifty years to compete in an intergalactic boxing event on the far side of the universe. Finally in Robot Jox, Stuart Gordon directs Empire Pictures' most ambitious movie yet, as men and women pilot giant machines in gladiatorial battle to settle international disputes over territory.
Freshly restored for the digital era with a wealth of new and archival extras, these films have never looked better. No need for a time machine, these golden age video classics will send you back to the 80s!

I was born and raised in a small village in the middle of England and we were lucky enough to have a VHS Recorder at the very start of the home media revolution. It felt like new titles were being added on a daily basis and that definitely goes for one shop in particular. The had so many titles that they were not only stacked on shelves around the inner walls but they also had converted magazine racks (the ones that stand vertically and spin around) and the most ingenious way they displayed them was on large roller decks where they taken the cover out and flattened them and slotting them into said roller decks. At one point in the early 1980’s they had what must of been thousands of movies..some that have been given the gorgeous upgrade today and many,so many I’ve forgotten
I really really hope you guys branch out for other labels from back in the day. I'd love another Video Store set featuring movies from Media, Vestron, Vidmark, IVE/LIVE, and other iconic 80s/90s legendary companies.
More of these sets please.
I hope that there will be more sets like this in the near retro future!:)
Pre-ordered mind back when it was first announced! Love me some Robot Jox and excited to watch Arena again! Been a long time.
the only downside is finding space for another box set on my limited shelf but this is a must buy
This set actually very small ,a little over 5 divds in size
Well made 80s trailer, Arrow.
I have mine pre ordered, more more. So many titles you could do. Terrorvision, the rats (deadly eyes), watcher (the one with the monster and the dog), so many more. I am going for a full arrow collection. Happy days
Just got my copy, gonna break into it tonight! Love the artwork, magazine, and video card!
Love the original vhs artwork really catches the eye.
Nine times out of ten I swap out the new artwork for the original, especially if it’s inside a boxset or slipcase. Not that I don’t like the new artwork but half my childhood must have been spent in video stores and I just love the old school posters and artwork. So many modern posters are just identikit photoshopped cast images and just lack that eye popping colour and vibrancy of old. And yes, I’m 49 this year so I’m probably considered way past it myself!
Love love love this ad!
I’m 37. Going to the mom and pop video store every single Friday night and renting a bunch of horror movies was a ritual for me when I was a kid. They always had free candy and a weekly coloring contest. Be kind, please rewind. Kids these days will never know how it was watching a movie based solely on how the cover looked and the 2-3 images on the back of the box b
I love you guys ❤❤❤
Would be better if it didn't sell out before its release date.
Just got an ad about it on Facebook today and it's already sold out.
Love this
great edit!
I’ve seen “arena” “the dungeon master” and “robotjox”. But not for many years !
Bring pin to blu-ray
Here’s hoping this is just the first of many like Shawscope. One question though and that’s why does the outer box look so big if there are just 5 films inside?
Maybe Arrow is doing an X Files like collectors box set where the box is partially empty & the empty spaces are for future Empire releases.
@@floyd75dylan That certainly seems like a possibility as their recent larger boxsets have used slim cases to save space but judging by the image that box could hold 5 normal amaray cases and still have room for more. There are certainly plenty more potential contenders but it’s all down to who owns the rights as ever …
Maybe, in order to get that box front artwork the desired aspect ratio the discs will be inserted on their sides rather than upright. Just a wild guess.
Is there going to be a shaw bros volume 3 this year.really need the one armed swordsman.
