Tom Scott brought me here, but congrats to the people who did this work. I'm always amazed by people mastering such difficult tasks to make progress happen.
"Allelys, a company that provides specialist heavy-lift and transport services, documents their work with gorgeous, instrumental, drone-and-slow-mo videos. So far, so corporate. But I think it's a real shame that the most fascinating video on their channel has barely been viewed, likely because it's just called "Interview With The Team" rather than having a title that would encourage people to click. It's fascinating! There's the usual beautiful camerawork, but intercut with some of the staff talking about the actual challenges involved in their job. Road widening! Building a bridge over a bridge! I would love to see something much more in-depth, this could easily be a half-hour documentary, but it's a great start." From Tom Scott's newsletter
Really interesting. Could you please explain why anything to do with electricity is so heavy. The generator is not actually that large physically but weighs 350 tons.
Transformers and electric motors have lots of tightly wound wire inside, and some steel to shape the magnetic field. So they are not that far off from a solid chunk of metal the same size, and that weighs like nine tons per cubic meter.
Here because Tom Scott recommended this. Great video!

Thanks Tom Scott
Great project, great video! Thanks to Tom Scott for pointing us to it!
Thanks Tom!
Very interesting and great production value! I'm guessing this will see a few more views this week (it was linked to from Tom Scott's newsletter).
The dramatic music building at 1:43 for the culvert segment was somewhat hilarious. But the following challenges deserved the music and all the kudos.
Watched alot of Allelys videos but never seen 5 trucks out front pulling. Must have used every heavy hauler in the Highlands

Tom Scott recommended this, so i'm here.
Is this transformer similar to what was brought to South Wales (Hirwaun) recently?
