Well more than 98% of people's own version of Osmosis Jones white blood cells did take down the covid virus when they were infected, actually. So yeah, true enough
I think my favorite part about the movie was Thrax. He had a cool design and he was a pretty intimidating villain. Plus he was a virus with no other motive than to beat a record in the amount of time it takes to kill one person. He explains how he killed a little girl who didn't wash her hands! Holy crap! There's just something really cool about him.
Yeah, I get what you're saying. Something just inertly cool. Not to mention, he was voiced by Laurence Fishburne. That guy's great at evil yet amazing characters if this and Predators are anything to go off of.
I know, right? The best part is that he's a personification of a deadly disease, but we didn't hear "Dude, not funny!" over the news. Nowadays, 4chan creates "Ebola-chan" and it's seen as disgusting and insensitive instead of cute. I miss the noughties…
Look, Critic, I get it, your sense of humor has evolved past gay jokes, I respect that. But the fact that you didn't ONCE make a joke about the scene where Thrax straddles Jones and chokes him out while delivering the line "Big Daddy Thrax is gonna give it to you" is honestly disappointing to me. Not one word of it. Not a hint. I really expected better. Side note, who on the animation staff was horny for viruses and why did the rest of the team enable them?
Does anyone remember in middle school the science teacher had us watch this movie and then they handed you a 10 page assessment fuck I hated middle school
I'll admit, after I skip over the live action scenes and the painfully awkward "firing the cop" cliché, I think this movie as actually kind of cute and still watch it from time to time. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.
butterflyqueen ikr. I remember as a kid when they showed the live action parts I was like, "I don't care about the dude and his daughter or the feminist teacher with the stick up her butt! Just give me more Ozzy, Drix and Thrax! Especially Thrax!" Lol. 😂
TrustInFaith I am glad someone thinks that there should have been no live action. I haven't even watched the movie but I know I wished there was a version with only the animated parts. No live action.
I've been wanting the critic to review this movie for a long time, and now that he's done it I'm a little disappointed that he kind of overlooked Thrax. To me, he was the best part of the movie. Heck, he's one of my favorite animated villains of all time. So it would have been nice to hear the critic's thoughts on him.
While osmosis Jones used the body as a setting for adventures, inside out turned the mind itself into a setting and closely mapped the adventures of the characters onto the emotional struggles of the main character.
This movie is just too clever for its own good. Saw it when I was a kid and loved it. My mom loved it too. Is it perfect? No, but it did have enough meat on the bone to spawn an animated series which was pretty good too. Not everything needs to be high art to be well written. The voice performances are top notch and the last 20 minutes of this movie are pretty badass.
I didn't really like Osmosis Jones, because it scarred me for life, because I watched it in 7th grade, and I had to watch Masters of the Universe to help me fall asleep at night, because I couldn't get that film(Osmosis Jones) out of my head!
True, but I could say the only good thing about inside out was Riley herself. The only problem is, inside had little of actual riley and this one had enough animation to keep me interested.
I think the thing I most resent about this movie is the fact that it implies the dad somehow fell into the position of zookeeper and his whole life fell apart when in reality, being a zookeeper is legit one of the most difficult job positions to get and there are people who spend YEARS trying to secure one.
Difference is Osmosis Jones is about the body and sort of deals with biology, while Inside Out is a bout the mind and deals with emotions and kind of with psychology.
What bugged me about the show is they had Frank regressed back into a slob (with his daughter being non-existent. I can assume she either died due to neglect or was taken by child services.)
Oh come on Doug, you didn't even mention the animated TV series that was made after this movie. Ozzy and Drix is actually pretty decent and honestly, much better than the movie.
monstercombo007 Slight correction. The mosquito was killed by Hector and the cells inside him rescued Jones and Drix when they came out to seal the wound.
I'm just watching this now with the thought that there's literally an anime with this exact same plot, but it's mostly about a red blood cell and a (hot) white blood cell
and now it got a spin off where the body is HELLA FUCKED! heavy drinker, smokes a lot, loses hair due stress, basicaly all the bad shit that can happen to a human body, happens.
Ooh, I really liked Cells At Work. I am a biology nerd so I loved the little explanations of the different cell functions that they interspersed into it!
I just don't like how they don't show who the body is. One of my online friends imagines it being an 18 year old kid, SO FOR THE SAKE OF THE GALAXY, SHE MUST DRAW HIM AND I MUST HIT THAT! (I'm into endo, so I don't like how they don't show who the body is. Knowing who the body belongs to is a _BIG_ part of endo.)
For some reason, Thrax is my favorite character, aside from the fact he is played by Lawrence Fishburne, who is one of my favorite actors. It's that Thrax has some potential every bad guy needs: a calm attitude, clever and unique killing moves, and little bit of sexiness with a scary intention, along with an interesting plan that makes sense.
We watched this in science and I have to admit the animation style is unique! And that the villain is RELENTLESS an will stop at nothing to kill frank dark... And not to mention the deaths Oh the deaths.
fun fact Pikachu from the Pokemon series appeared as a slight cameo in osmosis Jones the reason why they put him in is because Warner brothers own some of the rights of the Pokemon anime that was airing on 4kids back in the early 2000s.
Last year my science teacher showed us this movie. Then we got an assignment to make memes from it. Seriously. No scientific stuff required. It was pretty great.
Good god...I hate this comment. MEME ASSIGNMENT? BRUH ONE YEAR I REMEMBER MY SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER DID A MEME ASSIGNMENT BUT THEY WERE RELATED TO A WAR! I DIDN'T DO IT, BUT I REMEMBER SEEING IT!
Bud Charles Big Hero 6 is literally nothing like How To Train your Dragon. It's based off a Marvel Comic that came out years before that movie series was a thing.
Eh, HTTYD was about Hiccup having to hide the fact that he was going against his tribe's tradition by training a dragon instead of killing them. BH6 was about Hiro going on the revenge warpath because his brother was killed. There's not really much superficial similarity in the plots.
Bud Charles I don't get the Kimba the White Liar part. Wait, is it because he thinks Lion King ripped off Kimba? I don't remember them being that similar, but I haven't seen them in years.
So I will defend the scene at 15:45 a little bit here. Overweight people who develop unhealthy eating habits will do this thing known as "comfort-eating" especially when confronted with shameful situations (such as a person pointing out how unhealthy they are) or stressful/uncomfortable moments (like bringing up the death of a loved one) is it perfectly played? No, but I would be lying if I said I didn't see myself in Frank's situation here just trying to shake away the feeling by stuffing my face. Comfort-eating is a tough habit to break, and I'm kinda glad that they brought it up in this way.
You know? I actually like this movie, and I don't give a shit about the overused Buddy Cop tropes or the bad jokes, I like the concept honestly, although I think it would have been all cartoon instead of cartoon/ live action mix, also Thrax is a fucking awesome villain
Even though this movie is not good, just looking at that animation makes me wish that not every animated movie nowadays was CGI. It looks amazing. Don't get me wrong, a lot of those CGI movies look great, but some variety would be nice.
From the look of these comments... it seems that Inside Out is the new Frozen. You know... an animated movie that is really good, but everybody liked it so the internet shrinks into its shell and hates.
+MegaFriendlyCreeper inside out was decent, it wasn't great only reason its getting overhyped is because the only thing it has rivaling it is minions.... one looks great in comparison
Pooh Hardy Don't know what planet you live on where Inside Out is being heavily compared to Minions, but OK. I also don't understand why people like you reject new and interesting takes on old ideas validating Hollywood's huge boner for making no new ideas and unknowingly become part of the problem, but again whatever floats your boat.
MegaFriendlyCreeper i never thought i'd find a fanboy for a movie like inside out The way you jump to conclusion to go super fanboy mode by putting words in my mouth is pretty funny though
Pooh Hardy Don't try to make me recoil by calling me a fanboy. That's not going to work. Let me try to explain my point of view here, and maybe, MAYBE, you'll see where I'm coming from. Inside Out: a movie being praised for taking an old idea and doing something new with it. You: Someone who isn't as fond of Inside Out as others are. (Don't get mad at me. That's a fair assumption.) Hollywood: A collection of companies that fear branching out and taking risks. By not appreciating the things Inside Out does, the fear of originality Hollywood has is validated. Sure, they're not looking directly for what you and I think (our individual opinions mean very little, actually), but if the majority didn't appreciate it and it was a mediocre box office hit, then Pixar would have evidence to think that they shouldn't branch out into new ideas. They already have, like, 4 sequels in the works anyways. All I'm saying is that when people constantly clamor for more movies with new and original ideas, yet when one comes along say that the movie is only decent, I get confused as to what moviegoers really want. Inside Out isn't even my favorite Pixar film, but I still respect the creativity they took with it. I think that people should do the same.
They really don't have anything to do with each other. Inside Out is about mental health personified, while Osmosis Jones is about physical health personified. It's like the difference between a Psychology/Neuroscience class and a full body Biology class. Osmosis Jones has immune cells, bacteria and viruses, it goes ALL around the body and explores many different systems, you know, like a standard biology course. Inside Out takes place PURELY in the brain, it takes a more psychological perspective instead, like in Neuroscience or Psychology, focusing on emotions and memories rather than organs or cells. Yes, Osmosis Jones does take a SMALL portion exploring the nervous system, but just like a regular biology class, but it doesn't delve that deep, instead going into other portions of the body most of the time. Inside Out specifically focuses on that memory portion, like the NeuroScience/Psychology course. They about have as much to do with each other as Star Wars and Star Trek. Yes they both take place in space, but their messages and overall styles are VERY different. It's like trying to say that Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are the same just because they both have wizards, even though Harry Potter focuses "almost" exclusively on wizards and Lord of the Rings stars many other races like Elves, Dwarfs, Hobbits, and Orcs, not mention the entirely different settings. It really seems you were just reaching for straws with that comparison.

I love this movie with the exception of certain scenes. At least it didn't do what Food Fight did.

Jesus CHRIST that animation is amazing! I wonder if they had a lot of time and budget to work on it because half of the movie was live-action.
Ikr?! Its amazingggg
I honestly love this movie, it has a nice plot, alot clever ideas, amazing animation, and actually some quite likeable characters
Also I love the villain Thraxx, he is a awesome villain
Same! But I prefer Inside out more (thoguh it is more overrated.)
The Reaping Hopkins “Ebola is a case of DANDRUFF compared to me!”
Your right, but this is still a fart of the film.

fact: Osmosis Jones would've took down the C-virus.
Well more than 98% of people's own version of Osmosis Jones white blood cells did take down the covid virus when they were infected, actually. So yeah, true enough
The vaccines for it are actually pseudo thraxx
But when the world needed him most HE VANISHED
The sequel I didn’t know I wanted… but now need

+Witty Username schools can do that to you...don't worry,I feel your pain.
And 2016! (last school year.)
Girlwholovesherelves You must always wash your hands before leaving the bathroom
Thrax is the only part of the movie I liked. I know that's bad
Agreed! Plus, he's got an awesome voice courtesy of Laurence Fishburne!
How the hell did I never notice that before?
@@leemorrell I'm pretty sure the climax of the film is still on UA-cam, you could look it up. It's during the final fight on the eye.

I loved that!
OMG They did that to you too?! Some idiot in my class made our teacher slow the movie down when the guy vomited on the teacher at the science fair...
i had this in high school but not the the assignment really didn't matter
Yep
The hell is 'middle school' ? (I'm in the uk, we have primary and high school)
This movie literally traumatized me into a germaphobe for years.
Brayden Buhler yeah thrax is a living nightmare
Brayden Buhler omg I wasnt the only one.
of course you're traumatized that's why this movie is A FAMILY PICTURE
Hard same
I saw this movie when I was little and I still haven't recovered
Fun Fact: Bill Murray didn't even know that he was in a movie, they just followed him around with a camera.
Jk, I love Bill Murray
Mr.BigMac Every good actor gets a shit role/movie. Just look at Lawrence Fishburne and The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Zachary Erickson
Still appeared in the movie.
..... Everyone loves bill Murray
Wrath's Attack
Too right you are.
Mr.BigMac LOL you should post that as trivia on imdb
The clip of Nostalgia Critic shoving handfuls of chips in his mouth re-enacting the sad scene from Lion King sent me to heaven
I'll admit, after I skip over the live action scenes and the painfully awkward "firing the cop" cliché, I think this movie as actually kind of cute and still watch it from time to time. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.
Ari Liu I also liked the animated segments of this movie.
Yeah I do love the animated segments
Ari Liu I too like the animated parts as well.
The animated segments are the best and really creative I think, the live action does provide context but that's all its good for
Agree
I fuckin loved this movie. (Except for the live action)
It was cool in the inside but vomit on the outside
I agree, the live action always gets me nervous
How dare you insult bill Murray
Wasn’t there a fully animated version of this?

butterflyqueen ikr. I remember as a kid when they showed the live action parts I was like, "I don't care about the dude and his daughter or the feminist teacher with the stick up her butt! Just give me more Ozzy, Drix and Thrax! Especially Thrax!" Lol. 😂
The live action parts sucked. I've never seen a bigger waste of Bill Murray. Honestly, this whole movie should have been animated.
Ditto
TrustInFaith I am glad someone thinks that there should have been no live action. I haven't even watched the movie but I know I wished there was a version with only the animated parts. No live action.

Yeah the reason everyone knows this film is because at least once a year the science/ biology teacher would say fug it and slap this in the vcr.

What's funny is that for the longest time, I thought this movie was just a figment of my imagination.
Think of it this way: This was the actual figment of someone's imagination once.
Anthony David for some reason I felt the characters seemed familiar.
“A literal pill played by a typecasted pill, David-Hyde Pierce” I’m wheezing 😂
While osmosis Jones used the body as a setting for adventures, inside out turned the mind itself into a setting and closely mapped the adventures of the characters onto the emotional struggles of the main character.
Well yeah, It's used to mock the subject
It disturbs me how many people are attracted to Thrax.
Enid Taynne literally...
Joseph Simpson YES
you should see deviant art, there was even a comic that brought thrax back from the dead, idk how though and a "romantic" comic with someones oc

PolarPhantom yeah
This movie is just too clever for its own good. Saw it when I was a kid and loved it. My mom loved it too. Is it perfect? No, but it did have enough meat on the bone to spawn an animated series which was pretty good too. Not everything needs to be high art to be well written. The voice performances are top notch and the last 20 minutes of this movie are pretty badass.
dude that 'pissed off' guy does a great chris rock voice
I agree!! That guy is spot on
This was suppose to be my comment
Wait thats NOT chris rock?
This was obviously meant to be a kid's movie. I must say that when I was a child I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
jay bee It originally was meant to be a pg 13 movie before the live action dicricters came on board
True, but it didn’t have to overuse the gross out and toilet humor, though I guess it was common in the early 2000’s.
I liked Osmosis Jones.
Same.
So do I.
So do I
I prefer the animated show
I didn't really like Osmosis Jones, because it scarred me for life, because I watched it in 7th grade, and I had to watch Masters of the Universe to help me fall asleep at night, because I couldn't get that film(Osmosis Jones) out of my head!
1:23-3:03-6:34-13:33 I must admit his Chris Rock impression is pretty damn spot on 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah he sounds just like him!
The animated parts are the only good things about the movie.
agreed
True, but I could say the only good thing about inside out was Riley herself. The only problem is, inside had little of actual riley and this one had enough animation to keep me interested.
Yep
I wish it was only animated cuz when I watch it I always skip the live action part
Yeah agreed
that chris rock impression is spot on
I actually Love this movie...
And HATE Gross out jokes...

Shade's Insane Chamber
me too
I think it's because it's not just gross out for no reason, there is actual cause for it.
I think the thing I most resent about this movie is the fact that it implies the dad somehow fell into the position of zookeeper and his whole life fell apart when in reality, being a zookeeper is legit one of the most difficult job positions to get and there are people who spend YEARS trying to secure one.
Anyone else remember that Ozzy and Drix show from Cartoon Network?
Mr. Ash yeah its sad it didn't last long
I loved that show
Mr. Ash I do actually remember, I think it also went to WB Kids
Ozzy and Drix is the only thing I remember and not the movie.
Mr. Ash it was on WB kids
Difference is Osmosis Jones is about the body and sort of deals with biology, while Inside Out is a bout the mind and deals with emotions and kind of with psychology.
That guy you brought in to do the Chris Rock impression was spot on!
Ozzy,&,Drix is a Great TV Show
Definitely better than the film due to it being fully animated unlike the film.
What bugged me about the show is they had Frank regressed back into a slob (with his daughter being non-existent. I can assume she either died due to neglect or was taken by child services.)

monstercombo007 Slight correction. The mosquito was killed by Hector and the cells inside him rescued Jones and Drix when they came out to seal the wound.
WreckitFinntheSonic maybe he'll do a was that real on that
I'm just watching this now with the thought that there's literally an anime with this exact same plot, but it's mostly about a red blood cell and a (hot) white blood cell
Now I’m just thinking what this would be like as an anime
Andres Acosta its called cells at work
and now it got a spin off where the body is HELLA FUCKED! heavy drinker, smokes a lot, loses hair due stress, basicaly all the bad shit that can happen to a human body, happens.

And that the villain is RELENTLESS an will stop at nothing to kill frank

And not to mention the deaths
Oh the deaths.
fun fact
Pikachu from the Pokemon series appeared as a slight cameo in osmosis Jones
the reason why they put him in is because Warner brothers own some of the rights of the Pokemon anime that was airing on 4kids back in the early 2000s.

Hmmm...Not a bad impression of Chris Rock if you ask me.
Kimba the White Liar? Don't forget How To Train Your Big Hero 6 XD
Bud Charles They're not close enough to merit a lawsuit.
Bud Charles Big Hero 6 is literally nothing like How To Train your Dragon. It's based off a Marvel Comic that came out years before that movie series was a thing.
Leon Dilkshake i think he means the plot.
no where near a lawsuit though
Eh, HTTYD was about Hiccup having to hide the fact that he was going against his tribe's tradition by training a dragon instead of killing them. BH6 was about Hiro going on the revenge warpath because his brother was killed. There's not really much superficial similarity in the plots.
Bud Charles I don't get the Kimba the White Liar part. Wait, is it because he thinks Lion King ripped off Kimba? I don't remember them being that similar, but I haven't seen them in years.
To everyone saying inside out is a rip off:
Why are you comparing a buddy cop movie to an allegory for depression?
he is pointing out where the mayor is at the control panel in the guy's head
while i am not saying it is a rip off, i will say that there might of been some stuff that feels a bit too similar.

You gotta admit, weather you love or hate this movie, the “our founder” joke is pretty good.

+MegaFriendlyCreeper inside out was decent, it wasn't great
only reason its getting overhyped is because the only thing it has rivaling it is minions....
one looks great in comparison
Pooh Hardy Don't know what planet you live on where Inside Out is being heavily compared to Minions, but OK.
I also don't understand why people like you reject new and interesting takes on old ideas validating Hollywood's huge boner for making no new ideas and unknowingly become part of the problem, but again whatever floats your boat.
MegaFriendlyCreeper i never thought i'd find a fanboy for a movie like inside out
The way you jump to conclusion to go super fanboy mode by putting words in my mouth is pretty funny though
That's a fair assumption.)
Hollywood: A collection of companies that fear branching out and taking risks.
You're no fun
