I have been using an Aura Estelle hybrid planner, rings and strings, with Sew Much Crafting inserts. Personal Wide, I love it! The PW gives you just that extra width space to not having to move up to an a5 size. Personal Wide is almost the same as a b6, and that’s my other favorite size.
Thanks for sharing! I am in the same boat, I have a huge stack and am still trying newer things for 2025. I guess I never learn, but I also think it's fun to hop around and play with planners.
Hopping may just be part of your creative process like me! There's a lot of fun to be had in experimenting with new things. As long as you're having fun, I say go for it! Thanks for sharing your story and being here!
Hi Kate! I just found you and am intrigued by your planner hopping. I have been a functional planner for years, but I enjoy decorative as well (functional is priority). I loved seeing how you created different things to boost your functionality and track your needs. I can’t wait to see more!
Thank you for hopping so that I don’t have to! I am a half letter desk/hp mini on the go person, but for 2025 I want to try personal rings. Your input is helping me make a final decision. I want to reduce my spending on planner things next year. So I will try the CP spiral planner and personal rings. Wish me luck!
Best of luck and I'm so glad that the video helped you! I too am trying to be more mindful of spending this year so I thought that others might be in the same position. Thanks for being here!
I am not a planner hopper but someone who has a hard time using vertical weeks. I had a Hobonichi hon a5 this year and I used everything but the vertical weeks pages. I hope you can make a video to deep dive into your vertical planning! Subscribed
I will absolutely make a video on this! I mainly use it for time blocking and I conceptualize time vertically. If you're having difficulty it might be because you align with a horizontal style, or you just haven't seen someone do it in a way that "clicks" for you. Thanks so much for being here!
As another 2024 planner hopper I thoroughly enjoyed this video. And just like you, if I wouldn't have tried out all the things, I would not have found out what worked. Looking forward to seeing your 2025 planners and how you set them up.
Thank you for being here and letting me know you enjoyed the video! I hope to have the 2025 setup videos up soon! I'm working through my end of year planner rituals before committing and diving into the setups. :)
Idk how many times I planner hopped this year but it definitely wasn’t as many as you 😅 and what I think I learned from this video is that a lot of times our lives don’t end up aligning with our planner systems and it’s time to change and that’s perfectly ok!
I completely agree! I was hoping that showing these hops would validate that exploration is okay and the importance of pivoting when you feel that misalignment!
Great video! I love the Sterling Ink undated planner; HOWEVER, for 2025, I got the Journey planner by Nisha Fernando Designs, and the layout is mwhah (chef's kiss). I don't have to do much to set up the daily pages since she has a meal tracker for all 52 weeks at the front of the planner.
I have been part of the planner community since 2015 and have planner hopped into almost every planner out there. I am black ink all the way. I hate all the planners with the thin tomoe river type paper, I want thick no ghosting, no bleed paper, white paper. I prefer hardcover or spiral (with sturdy cover). I also on occasion use TNs as long as the paper is good. Thanks for the video, it’s interesting to see what and why you hopped. It helps with fomo when you know what works for you and what doesn’t!
Thank you for sharing! I like the thicker paper for planning, but I really love the TRP for journaling. I really think that has to do with the amount of visual white space on the page. Stay strong to what you know you love! The FOMO is REAL this year!
If I had extra cash, I'd probably be planner-hopping! Although, I know for a fact that a 52 gsm TRP won't work for me ;( but the Sterlingink planners are just tempting. Her vertical weekly layout and all-grid design is THE dream planner design/format. But thank goodness I found the Nolty and Take A Note planners back in 2020. I love them! I enjoyed your video! Thank you for sharing~
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being here! I really love the SI vertical layout and I agree it's a dream layout. I wish it came in a thicker paper that I could pop in my rings planner.
The last two years I feel like I have been on a planner hopping rollercoaster. And though it has been fun to try out new planners it can get exhausting. My goal for next year is to try an A5 for the first time (Wonderland 222 Unstacked Core), use my N2 Horizontal for everyday carry, and B6 notebook for journaling. But in the end if it works out, I would love for 2026 to be in the Wonderland A5 Unstacked AIO, and A6 as a carry. I do have a B5 Vertical for work. I am loving that size. I was in a half letter but needed something a little bigger.
Thank you for sharing your story and for being here! I completely understand the exhaustion! I was exhausted after going through all of these planning systems for 2024. My goal for 2025 is to stay in 3-4 planners. I need bigger sizes for work planning and smaller portable sizes for everyday carry. B5 is IMPRESSIVE LOL
This was such a great video! I found the information you shared to be very helpful and insightful. (Side-note: the cream colored pages are very big deal!! I also prefer the white pages just because the cream pages appear to be dull, and the white pages give true color with my stickers). Question: Did you hand letter the months in your planners? Those are absolutely adorable! Thank you so much for sharing these insights.
Thank you so much! I'm very glad that it helped and that I'm not alone on the cream colored pages! I'm actually terrible at hand lettering. These are all stickers that I made in canva using a scripted font.
Thanks for being open about your challenges with your 2024 planners. I resonate on multiple fronts. I have a strange request. Would you consider selling your 2024 HON? I am looking to recycle the cover.😊
I'm so glad that the video resonated! I hope that by being open about these challenges, it helps someone learn from my mistakes. Normally, I would be all for reselling, but I can't part with this cover and was thinking of disassembling it and framing it as artwork for my office. It's so stunning!
yay, 2nd video! I am enjoying your videos, keep 'em coming. Question, are those highlighters sitting on the right side of your flat lay? I like the colors, can you tell me what they are? Thanks!
Whoa this was an expensive journey! 😅 I also subscribe to C&P and I still feel hesitant about the academic layout...understandable but was disappointed not to be able to see yours. It feels like such a tiny space to fit everything...so I'm unsure whether I'll actually use it. Last year's spiral planner I ended up giving to my girlfriend, but would love to be able to try and use this year's.
Haha! It was an expensive journey! I do have a setup reel on Instagram showing how I use the academic insert, but I appreciate you understanding why I need to hide the details for work. I think each line can hold 2-3 words depending on the size of your handwriting. I use a lot of short hand and key words to job my memory. I use a half page grid insert for a weekly task list that keeps my running list that I might need to move to the next week (vs re-writing it). I do plan on using the spiral for content planning, so I can shoot a set up video of that if you'd like?
Get out of my head! LOL. I want to be a personal wide rings planner because that is my favorite size of planner to look at and rings are so convenient for moving things around. I just can't make it happen. I can't deal with writing on the left page and having the rings under my wrist. Taking the pages out to write on them isn't an option because I write in my planner all day long. Right now I'm sitting here with multiple planners that I may or may not use for 2025 and the only one I am committed to is the Wonderland 222 B6 for work (third year in a row). I have two different B6 dailies, two different A6, a passport size, and a B6 slim horizontal that I will probably turn into an ink journal because I too am just not a horizontal planner. WHY can't I just pick one thing and make it work??????????
I resolved that tactile experimentation is part of my creative process. This gave me a lot of peace when looking at my stash. Have you tried snipping the paper so it pops in and out similar to a disc bound planner? This helps me a lot when those pesky rings get in the way and I don't have to open the rings. If that's not an option, I say stick with the B6 or try out a B6 Slim planner. Similar size and no rings to battle with. I'll be doing a video soon on things to consider before selecting a new planner. In the mean time, there's a blog post that I wrote that might help you out: functionofplanning.com/2024/05/27/how-to-determine-your-planning-strategy/ Thank you for sharing your journey and being here! I hope this helps!

I loved seeing this video and what worked and did not work! 💯💯 Of course my favorite is you B6 slim journal and PR 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks so much Nora! I really appreciate your support! I can't wait to share more about the B6slim for 2025!

Hi, OMG I relate to this so hard!! Love this super real chatty video! Where is that lovely green rings from? Apologies if I missed you sharing. ❤
LOL! I'm glad you could relate - it makes me feel less alone. The green rings cover is called cypress - from Cloth and Paper. :)
