Your Zinnia garden is beautiful, what a paradise for the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Thank you for the pinching tip, going to try it this year, hopefully I get fuller growth! 🥰
I love zinnias. Always reliable always beautiful. And boy they can take the heat. I pinch to get the most out of them I can. Always thinking of our pollinators I plant as many as I possibly can.
Taking the plunge this year. I have a poetic justice seed purchase - green/envy zinnia. I purchased that variety and failed it a few years ago ( direct sown but bunnies at the sprouts ) so now that I winter sowing I’m excited to finally grow these and MAYBE see them flourish.
Wonderful video! I’ve been growing zinnias for years, taking after my beautiful momma. I will try pinching for the first time this year. Thank you for the lovely lesson 🌸
It's currently winter here in Australia and I'm very much looking forward to planting some zinnias in the spring. Hoping to winter sow many varieties using the milk bottle method - it's my first time ever so hopefully will all go well.
yeah, this year is not only my first year in the flower garden, but a total bust. Corona pushed back ALL OF MY PLANS so I am happy to hear, that even though I am totally late to the train with my flower garden plans and everything is super duper scaled back AT LEAST I didn't mess up anything and I can still pinch my couple of zinnias 😂. At least this way I may have a few more blooms. Thanks for the heads up!
hello, I never have grown zinnia, this is my first time. I have not pinched any of them. What do you suggest please ? Thanks. thanks for sharing this video.
Hi .. u have beautiful zinnias . I have grown from seedlings in the pots … but they do t grow tall n kind of bend it outside the railings n then grow straight . How can I avoid this . Also the leaves becomes brown from the edges n kind of papery … can u please send me a link of its care n reasons how to avoid all this .. happy Gardenkng!! 💕❤️❤️👍💖💖
I burned ALL of my zinnias with neem oil yesterday. I sprayed them off with water today. Will they die? Should I pull them up or prune them all the way down?
Hi, love your content and excellent source of flower information. Quick question...when you plant Zinnias in trays how do you remove them? When in cells it would seem to be easy. Why do you choose trays instead? Thanks!
I just gently break them apart. I like using the open trays because the plants never get root bound before transplanting. Also, cells tend to dry out very quickly using the winter sowing method. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! :)
I have ones from the nursery who flowered two days after i planted them, can i snip the flower off and get the same results? How long about will it take for new flowers too form on the new snipped growth?
Absolutely beautiful!!! May I ask where you buy your seed? I plan a a large cutting garden next year and would like to have many different varieties. I have looked at Park seed but they are very expensive. Thanks. You are my FAVORITE teacher on UA-cam. U pack so much info in vids...so Awesome!! And inspiring!! Thank U
I can’t keep my zinnias healthy all through the summer in Oklahoma(zone7a). They start dying toward end of July. Is it wrong to water them every morning in temperatures of the high 90s? I figured since roots don’t go too deep, the soil gets bone dry every day. Mine never look as healthy as everyone else’s zinnias. I did start watering at the base to avoid mildew. This year I will be trying not feeding them. I heard a good compost is all you need for the whole season. Thanks for the tips and is there anything I’m missing?
Zinnias are very low maintenance. Sounds like you may be loving them too much. They are a desert flower and once blooming require minimal water and love lots of hot sun.
Very useful video, especially since it's on a very specific flower! These are in my top 3 favs :P. I just wanted to mention something, and please don't take it as me attempting to be anything other than helpful to you on your channel. I'm not an expert, just a regular viewer... and sometimes, that's the input that's needed, no? Anyways ... I'm a chatty-cathy ... always so talkative. I feel like you and I would never cease conversation hahaha. In UA-cam videos however, concise and consolidated explanations work better. People also tend to respect UA-camrs who mention less about their channels and subscribing, etc etc... I feel rude. Hope I don't come across that way though. Good day!
I'd watched your other video about rooting the cuttings, but I didn't know you could try it in water. I think I'll give that a try. Sometimes my cuttings in potting soil will wither or rot. Some have made it.
loved your vid, i have a question----i planted zinnias in a pot and the pot is loaded do i need to thin them out? if so is there a amount i should save,,the pot is 16 inches across. and with the ones i take out can i repot to another pot. thanks for your time.
I think it depends on the type of zinnia. Smaller ones are usually fine if they're a little crowded. If they're supposed to produce larger flowers, I would consider thinning them. Generally, a very close spacing will decrease the size of flowers. Hope that helpsd 🌱🌱🌱
Great video! Thank you! How do you get the landscape material with the holes? Do you cut the holes yourself or buy it that way? It’s my first time planting zennias and the weeds are hard to keep up to.
I have a video on it. Actually, I think it's one of my first videos ever. I make my own holes in the weed barrier. The method will depend on the type of barrier chosen. 🌱🌱🌱
You’re zinnias are beautiful! What is the name of the peachy colored zinnia starting around 9 seconds into the video shown with the pinky purple color?
So helpful! I jut got some zinnias from a local farmers market and they are only about 6 inches tall but flowering already and I thought maybe I got a dwarf variety. I'm going to pinch them so they will grow taller!
My zinnia leaves are brown and brittle but still producing flowers, are they missing something. I've applied neem oil on the leaves and also have fertilizer but still brown 🤔😔 what can do to make my zinnias healthier
Browning can be cause by a lot of things. First, I would make sure that they're getting enough water. Japanese beetles and leafhoppers can also cause the damage. Good luck!
I’m first time gardening and my Zinnias are getting leggy. I’m starting to see a second set of little leaves coming in on my sprouts. How can I not have leggy sprouts? I’ve done great with plants (ZZ and Snake plants) I want to grow zinnias. Any help is welcomed from anyone
Generally, pinching is done once before the plant starts to bloom. Deadheading refers more to removing the old flowers to promote bloom. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hello greeting from Barbados. Great content on your channel :) I want to try to grow some tall zinnias here in the Caribbean. Can you link me to where you get your zinnias that grow really tall please? Thanks!

So zinnias are like basil and peppers, cool!
Growing zinnias for the first time this year. Direct sowing in the garden. I am in zone 8a, Eastern North Carolina
I thought my zinnias were beautiful....and then I watched this video lol. I am so jealous of those beautiful blooms!
Thank you so much for the kind comment. This was recorded before our recent heat wave. The zinnias are definitely a little stressed now, lol! 🌱🌱🌱
Goldfinches love my Zinnias...
I'm going to do just what you suggested because I love zinnias. I'd love more blooms. New subbie btw.
Great video! I now feel confident in pruning the Zinnias out front...thank you!!
I grow zinnias, thanks for the tips!
Never pinched tips of zinnias before....that explains why I don't get too many flowers.
Nice tip👍🏻
Will try this
Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for the rooting tip! I had no idea but I can’t wait to try!
I'm considering remaking that video soon. 🌱🌱🌱

I usually don't bother, but I'm so far behind this year that many of them started blooming in their seed trays. 🌱🌱🌱

Would it be good to pinch if I want blossoms in 2 weeks? Ours are tall and just started getting the blossoms buttons on top
Aha, so the bunnies and deer have been helping my zinnias by chomping off the young shoots 😜
