Farmall Hydra-Creeper Explained - Super A

- This is a fully functioning Farmall Hydra-creeper. Paul Gebel explains the operation of the PTO powered, hydraulic drivetrain for this Super A. This accessory was used for ultra low-speed farming operations, as in the transplanting setup shown on this tractor.
I have heard of these but have never sen one let alone one in action. Very cool! Thanks for the demo!
We used this same setup when setting out tobacco on our farm in Beulaville, NC many years ago. Great video sir. Brings back many good memories, thank you.
I am from Fountaintown. I have always wondered why there weren't more of the Hydra-Creepers around here as much tobacco as we had. I've never seen one in person.

Thank you very much for posting this. I have a beater/ useful 100 with a loader, and often wish for a lower gear when moving engines using the hoist, etc.

Super safe demo, in and out from infront of the moving tire!!! Just one slip or something hung up and that thing starts crawling over him.
nice that you showed the hydra-creeper. but please don't stand in front of the tractor and operate it like you are doing. a friend off me almost got killed this way. very dangerous because if the tractor gets you it will never ever stop. please ride safe. we want to have fun and no accidents. greatings from holland!

Thanks! This attachment for the Farmall Super A was designed to allow for the super low speeds required for transplanting. The transplanter shown in the video is manual - the seedlings are placed on the conveyor by hand. While it's possible to operate safely in 1st gear with the throttle all the way down, it's much better at the speed driven by the hydra-creeper.
Can you show a video of all the components that are associated with the Hydra Creeper, so if a person were to find one we could verify all the pieces needed for an install on a Super A that didn’t have one so equipped

What is the implement on this tractor? I ran across one in the woods but had no clue except it must've been a planter of sorts.
The implement is a transplanter. We have used it for planting sweet potato slips. The Hydra-creeper is highly useful for transplanting, because the mechanism requires the rider to manually place the transplant onto the conveyor, which is fairly slow.
