Dumbwaiters are good in very specific circumstances. If you have lots of tables, in a large dining room being able to dumbwaiter to the far side is a god send
itsgng had a good idea when they mentioned using a grabber out of dumbwaiter, but then skootie discouraged it by mentioning he'd still be activating it the same number of times. Reducing activations is not what that solves - it adds in a pizza buffer so that there are less instances where there is *no* pizza available at itsgng's side,. as well as allowing them to occasionally double-send (or triple, if you add a counter at the end) pizzas if both of them are next to the DW. Likely wouldn't have affected the outcome much, but may have made it less stressful. Still, I think dumbwaiters can be significantly improved just by having auto-close/open when a grabber takes/pushes into them. Or even just allow one side to force the other side open, though that may get weird with 3+ DW (Not sure how they work even with regular ones)
yeah dumbwaiters need to be looked at by the devs for sure. they are almost useless as they are now. no visibility inside, no little marker that something new was put in, no automation integration (albeit even though i don't like it, i think that is a fair gameplay point)
Yeah and since usually Skootie is the voice of reason, when he discouraged it with a "seemingly good argument" gng immediately gave up xD but he had a really good idea.
If there was a way to link two dumbwaiters together as a pair, they could potentially be scaled into a usable system. Also, having the pair open and close together.
I've noticed that they had a real problem with buffers, even removing their dirty plate buffers. They were thinking about removing both of their dirty dish racks. That would have been game over as it was.
It would be cool to add an " activator" item. It would have a three settings: on, off, and interval. You could put it behind a gas limiter / research desk in the on position or a dumbwaiter/oven in the interval position to open it. Probably some other uses too.
I think a grabber taking from the dumbwaiter receiver would help a lot. You would not need to guess/communicate if there is pizza or not inside, just need to check the grabber.
You can speed up dirty dish delivery with 2 grabbers off the dish rack, it takes a lot more room and grabbers but it goes to the sink twice as fast, you should be able to start washing as soon as the first one hits and by the time you're done washing the 2nd set will be in. Same can be done on the clean side if you don't mind corner washing, though obviously not on that map, I'm pretty sure that'd be the fastest currently possible method of washing + stacking.
Actually I think they could have done the option of get clean dishes out 2 as fast by heading down from the dish rack into the sink with adding another dumb grabber. moves the sink 1 spot to the left and from there using the reming grabbers to take out clean dishes and load the auto plater. But with simplicity they just couldn't get everything automatic quick enough.
@@jcrazy9008 if I'm imagining it correctly, then Skoottie wouldn't have been able to reach the sink since the other grabber would block his door, if the layout was slightly different then they could've done everything in a better way. Everytime I've had issues like this, it's always cause the kitchen is just one block too skinny lol.
According to the yogscast who publish this game, there will be some kind of upgrade to the dumbwaiter in the next update, the preview of the update will take place next week, so the update's gonna be out fairly soon.
Once you guys disavowed scaling, you could have grabbers taking pizzas out of dumb waiter and feeding into frozen preps and freezers and make the tray gaming better, as well as prepping pizzas the night before for the next day
looking at the numbers the power sink is slightly faster per plate than the wash basin, taking 1 second per plate to the basin's 1.25. adding in the brush makes the difference 1/12 of a second. so the power sink is slightly better on paper, but with how automation works the basin becomes better.
lmao Gavin completely missed the smart grabber that chatter was talking about. If he had moved the one that was already programmed to grab dirty dishes off the sink and over to the table he would have only had to plop a clean plat on the one that was programmed for tomatoes. It doesn't really matter, but the whole thing made me laugh. He's such a goofball, I love watching your videos with him.
i love how he is like "ok yeah i can do that, but chat you know that doesn't change a thing" and we all were like "yeah ok, but we didnt mean this one:P"
I'm spilt on that cause to me the choices they made is what brought them here but if they would of took options with -15 they would struggle elsewhere or maybe not at all but also there's no end to this game so eventually even with speed grabbers the game would end
@@jcrazy9008 it depends on the kind of builds you decide to make: if you focus on one dish fast conveyors are good to serve people faster, if you take all the -15% cards fast conveyors are not important
not sure if you guys have seen it yet, but there has been a update to PlateUp! for Halloween. and they added in Teleporters. No more need for dumbwaiters. The teleporters are upgraded from the Dumbwaiters though. Lol.
Was the challange to use the dumbwater? Because it is holding them back so much. When a few pizzas are on the conveyers skootie could just do the dishes.
Oh wow you cut the first part of this out? because the gameplay was similar? I regret to inform you that this is the 7th time i have seen pizza being played, i am not continuing to watch because only new gameplay , I'm watching of the new hilarity with the players, especially gng lol.
kinda drives me nutz the way he always grabs the plate then drops it on the pizza and picks it back up when you could just pick up the pizza then click the plates and it would instantly plate it in his hands just a little ocd
Why don't you two use another wash basin instead of a dish rack? They both do the same thing except you can wash with a wash basin and you had one but didn't buy it and kept the dish rack. Also, you two would have both done dishes at the same time when you two boxed each other in and could have unloaded the first wash basin clean plates manually to the 8 rack to speed up the auto plater if one is busy making pizzas.
That is actually smart and they could just use a grabber for the first wash basin so that dirty dishes can still flow through. But when things back up you can wash instead
I think they were one grabber short of making that work. They could have pulled one of the grabbers from the cooking area, but then Skoottie would have had to manually add tomato or cheese to the mixer.
This gave me brainrot. Sacrificed all research and copying to lock themselves in instesd of just leaving the dumbwaiter ontop of the portioner. Could've easily fully automated pixza without dumbwaiter and helped with bussing and serving but nooo.
Skootie: I have a question
Everyone: What is it?
Skootie: I have done nothing but teleport pizza for three days
Everyone: That's not a Question--
Skootie: *YES*
Where?! Where have you been sending it?!
This has to be one of the tidiest restaurants I have EVER seen in your Plate Up Videos

they need to add smartweighter
or player weighter that you can enter and teleport. so like you could be locked in somewhere and still be useful
W^

It would be so much more useful, if the other side just opens when you close one

I'm glad I can watch this tonight. The dumb waiter seems like more of a challenge than an advantage
watching old vids makes me so glad we have rotating grabbers
The irony of me watching people make pizza in a restaurant rogue-lite game while I’m currently eating pizza

Wow, why are dumbwaiter so bad. I always wanted to try them, but they seem awful when you can just chain a good production line normally.
@XDee Would a combiner work like when the oil in combiner technically activate constantly the sink and not just the oil.
@@Milenos whoa! Now I wish there was a "creative/test" mode to try something like this out without having to sacrifice a run just to see
Before, humans have teleported bread.
Today, humans has once again marked history by teleporting pizza.
This truly is a moment in humanity.
I've been hoping for dumbwaiter shenanigans :)
Me too, I've never been able to use it since I've only played solo up to this point
Anyone else yelling “Do the dishes!” Lmfao
fun seeing the meter for the line outside
I have done nothing, but teleport pizza for the last 3 days

It could be fun for an upgrade card (downgrade) to make it so that you get 8 slices per pizza but customers can order 1,2 or 3 😅

Word. Like everything is similar we're here for the fun banter between everyone
I wanna see the first half of this
Probably can watch the vod on twitch in that case.
Yeah twitch vod from 3 days ago from time of this comment (around the 4 hr 45 min mark for this exact run)
I'm panicking so I forget to research or save pizza... making three next day panic worse.
Question, you should teleport bread.
Dumb Plate vs Dombwaiter! 🤣🤣🤣

That's not just your ocd. It's definitely more efficient that way. Don't worry, it bothers many of us :P
31:30 - Doesn't look "all manual" to me. You've got the prep thing that make the tomato sauce for you.
Why don't you two use another wash basin instead of a dish rack? They both do the same thing except you can wash with a wash basin and you had one but didn't buy it and kept the dish rack. I can never tell who is who in this game
Look at the bottom
Yo thanks

Haha
Don't know why but GNG just pisses me off with his voice and mannerisms.
how do you get the blueprints to spawn like that outside for me its always random locations inside
Its a setting
