Thanks Henk
Back on the road, BRILLANT 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
Back at it!
Rewatching the St Tropez adventures a 3rd time. Never gets old. You two are a hoot. Am grateful you can bring joy to us.
Thanks so much! Please share the videos with anyone you think might enjoy.
Mister Me, Mister Boo, Halloween & Elton..well the wild boar family were grazing nicely & you got a great photo of them..I wouldn't have liked to have been only a few feet away though as me thinks the biv guy would have seen you off!! 😂 so this is how the other half live with big yachts & boats & 2nd homes...but are they happy?? Well you could give it a go i suppose 😛 good to see more of Eltons friends out & about
.Mister Boo cracks me up with the facial expressions 🤣 another excellent vlog by you both..stay well & of course stay charged 👌 👍
Thanks David. We loved the boars. I’m always amazed how many yachts are moored in the scores of marinas down here. Certainly tens of thousands possibly many more
What a fabulous surprise
It was
I just love you guys so much! Thank you!
thanks for watching
Thank you guys it like to take me on tour.😘🥰😍🙏🏻🌷👵🏻❤️🇹🇭
Any time!
Another interesting video, the island you are thinking about in Venice is Marano been to Venice twice amazing place but too busy.
Port Grimaut reminds me a bit of Portmerion the Italianated village in North Wales very near to me, have you been there it was where the Prisoner was filmed.
Never been Raymond but am now intrigued..
Another enjoyable drive!
Thanks again!
Dear Tim and Richard enjoyed your blog best wishes David and Luba
Thanks guys!
Beautiful part of the world thanks.
Thanks
Hi Guys. To me it looked like Venice mixed with Portmeirion in Wales where the T.V series The Prisoner was filmed.
What a gorgeous place to look around but like you said it is probably heaving in the summer
Yes It’s fascinating. It’s beautifully done but strange
didn't know about Grimaud, what a beautiful place but not the same as Venice of course, calm place during the winter but I imagine in the summer...
thank you so much for another lovely episode of this series Tim.
Thanks. It was a real surprise to us and when I came to edit it I was surprised by how it looked
You are very brave guys I would be terrified driving that car!
Another really fascinating episode. Thanks! When you were in the beach car park and offered Mr Boo some behavioural advice 🐶 I almost dropped my tea! Well done to Mr Boo for spotting the boar family, and to Halloween for keeping her head down and not confusing them with cats (could have quickly become rather nasty and I'm not sure Elton would have survived). The tour of Port Grimaud was really wonderful and I hope you might take us there again one day. Thanks so much!
I’d never give Mr Boo advice!;
Wot did you do before Elton bet you e joy the freedom I have a mokka electric love it and your vids .
Thanks I rode an electric bike and was thinner!
Went to port grimaud in the mid 80s. Relatively recent development then its grown into itself. Takes it's name from the village further inland. Remember pay at pump back then at geant casino petrol station
Pay at pump!
Only discovered your channel today ( I mainly follow motorhome and van life channels but have gorged on yours today. Thank you for the content and the great commentary and entertainment. We went to Port Grimaud in 2003 and stayed in the campsite at the back of Port Grimaud, you should check out the campsite it is equally strange, it has a whole Egyptian theme, the kids called it Port Grim, but we all loved it.
Glad you are enjoying! And that sounds like it’s right up our ooh jarka pivi! I wonder if it’s still Egyptian?
Another fab video 💜
Thanks Em
This reminded me a little of Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria. x
Not been there
I love seeing the wild boar family! The babies are adorable. I just cooked a pork roast a little while ago and it’s cooling in the fridge to go in the freezer. Now I’m feeling guilty. Driving along the coast line is just gorgeous! Port Grimaud looks like a fun place for a visit. It’s quite pretty, and it would be lovely to have my boat just a few feet from my door. Tim, just before you said something about Disney I was thinking the same thing. It reminds me of something I might see at Disney World. Disney World’s version of Venice. Just a lot classier classier. Thanks for the trip! Love from Vermont
The coastline is lovely Rebekah and the Boars were amazing.
I demand that the pork gets a decent burial! 😂😂😂😂🐽
Great video! One day see if Elton wants to go to Grimaud Village ...
The car or..
it's always such a pleasure to follow you (I was in the white car!) in your trips and catching up when you missed an episode is a sure way to spend some great time :)
(what a pity, no gendarme in St Tropez ! )
Thanks!
Great video, Port Grimaud was stunning. Defo on my list to visit
Definitely go it’s unique and the detailing is amazing
Cool video and never seen this par of St Tropez.
Me neither. Thanks Tore
Another great video guys :) Tim, Murano is the place near Venice where they do the glass and yes it does have the same feel about it :)
That’s it!
I remember there were certain views of Buildings that reminded me of the British Kids TV Programme 'Balamory'. Very Good and Entertaining Episode. You must remember to wear your hat.
jamie, good to remind him about the hat, and can i add to always wear some anti-sun cream?
Thanks Jamie. This was shot in November I’m very hatted now!
Hmm, I dont know if Halloween would be happy at Port Grimaud. But if you have a boat, and the money, it might be convenient. That wild boar looked like she wanted to sample some "Ami."
S/He was a whopper
Love the videos lads keep up the great work 👍
Thanks David
Lovely video to watch on a cold Welsh February night. Went there in the summer reminded me of somthing out of the cult show 'The Prisoner' just needed a few Mini Moke's. Hope your health scare is behind you and you are keeping well.
Thanks Paul. Love mini mokes
Nice video again boys, I went to port Grimauld in the olden days (70s I think it was) and my dad’s mate was thinking about buying one of the apartments but wasn’t sure he’d get his money back if he had to sell it. Oooops
Yes he’d probably have done ok!
Alright boys.
I've been there a few times and would have thought you would have been there before now!
There's a few boars here need culled.
Keep it up.
Never bin!
Great video, first!!
Thanks and you win!
Hey Guys
Great, as always. Reminds me more of Portmeirion sur mer…… or a Florida version of it!
Mike
Indeed. Thanks Mike
That was such a bonus seeing the boar with her youngsters, sometimes, I believe called humbugs because of their stripy coats. Port Grimaud - interesting - but not sure I'd want to stay there. Thanks for showing us around 😊. Very pleased Halloween kept a low profile 🐗!
Humbugs. They are so cute aren’t they!? Grimaud is really fascinating. I still don’t know what I think about it!
Cool thanks, I noticed some of the street lighting so it must be great in the evening at night to walk around and have a meal. Really impressed at how you can do a long trip in your Elton…Laurie NZ.
Thanks Laurie. Yes it was quite a drive back!
There is also a Very nice beach in Port grimaud. Also old Grimaud Village is worth the visit.
Yes we wanted to visit the old village but just didn’t have time
Never been there. Will add to my list - for a winter visit.
Definitely worth it
Reminds me of Portmerion in North Wales Tim...slightly strange slightly artificial.
Yup
Liked the wild boar shots and Port G looks lovely. FYI Eric Box funeral director is still there but, regrettably Caddy's Ices and Stringers junk (sorry, secondhand) shop isn't. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Gordon. Caddy’s was a marvel!
Another reason to go to this area of france …in April maybe ? Thanks for very enjoyable video as usual.
April/ early May and Sept/oct would be my tips
Hi Guys, I’m enjoying your journey along the coast to St Tropez, I remember Port Grimaud being built about the time those unusual apartments at Marina Baie des Anges were also being built, shouldn’t admit to this ha ha. Yes they do play boules in that square and though it gets busy in the summer, the style of the place means it remains very laid back and relaxing. We were staying in Saint Raphael last September but didn’t get chance to visit St Trop. My husband Philippe had a business in Fréjus a good few years ago so it was a walk down memory lane for him. We have a restaurant near Gueret (Massif Central) so I love to see the restaurants you visit and the food. Hope you are soon fit and well again, keep up the good work and “keep charged” lol. Best wishes, John & Philippe.
Thanks Guys. Shame it’s not a bit nearer we could have popped over for lunch!
@@MeandMonAmi Would love to meet you both & Halloween (we have three Chihuahua dogs) also I'm from T' north so lots to talk about lol. Next time we get down your way we must meet up.
I went there in the mid 80s and really didn't notice it was purpose built.
I can see how that could happen
I could see you guys living there with a view of the Mediterranean and enjoying the Venice affectation. Don’t know about the summer tourists and I’m struck by the fact no French celebrity has visited Port Grimaud like Brigitte Bardot made Buzios in Brazil famous as a world renowned getaway in the 1960s! A treasure shall we say, hidden in plain sight on the French Riviera.
I dont think I could live there but could see how a holiday there could work
You had r box we had, Robbin banks :) he was a lawyer here in oban
Lol!
Really interesting.I remember driving along that road when we drove to visit St. Tropez but never stopped off at Port Grimaud. Not sure what to make of it. Very obviously created but lacks something compared to 'trad' France.
Yup, but as far as simulacrums go it’s really well done.
we will have to change mr Boo’sname to David Attenborough well donespotting the boars
He was very sharp! I missed them completely!
Port Grimaud was nicer than I thought it would be from looking at the satellite photos and driving past it. Less Disneyland feeling than La Grande Motte area or Cape d'Agde which I have visited before and made me not turn in to Port Grimaud when passing. The traffic situation may have contributed too 😀
Yup I was pleasantly surprised but I think it would be less fun (like Venice) in season
The biggest funeral directors in Blackpool is called Box brothers .
A relative?
😂
I hope you are doing well, no idea whether this video is before or after your operation but I do wish you well! I do love the south of France, especially Nice, cos it's the only place I've been in the South! Mind you, I did have an Auntie in Le Havre, who I visited, but it's not quite the same!
This was shot in November so well before. I’m doing good thanks
Do you wave to other Ami drivers or honk your horn? Do you have a horn? Mr Boo has facial expressions like me... no need for words lol xxx
Sometimes we wave but often yeh drivers are young and too cool to wave at an old fart!
How would it be, if you could convert Elton into a small boat and explore the coast from the seaside in a calm and warm sunset mood! 🌅 🌇
That would be lovely!
Hi Guys, do you have a video how and how much you can pack in an Ami? Can the back be opened. I am mostly a single travler, but i want take maybe somebody to a drive. I do all my shopping in bulk. So, again is there or you know where I can look how much you can pack in an Ami. Thank you guys. Live your videos and I may will follow your route when I'm moving from Thailand in 4 years to Andalusia.🙏💯🤗❤️😍
This weeks video on sunday should be a big help. No boot!
Thank you. I will watch it asap. I still have time to buy the Ami. As long my "Porsche" (electric tricycle) is working. I will not order one. As it didn't make sense to import from France and than being it back to Spain. But i want all the knowledge about the Ami as i can get. I am in love with this little bug 💗🤣🥳
It was nice you played some Fremch pop music. In some other vids you play english and It doesn't work as well as the French music. I discovered Françoise Hardy - (A Vannes - 1977 ) It's not qiute chanson but it's bright and chirpy. And very French. It must be said you do make good xids. All the best.
Problem is there is very limited amount of non copyright protected french music that works!
The Architecture of Port Grimaud reminds me of the TV Series 'The Prisoner' and the Village of Portmeirion (Sorry about all the 'the's in one sentence) . . Almost as expensive as St. Mawes, but with better Weather...
Indeed. I must go Portmeirion some day
There are wild boars here in Hong Kong, too.
in the centre?!
@@MeandMonAmi 🤣🤣🤣
@Me and Mon Ami on Kowloon side. The wild boars occasionally come in and raid rubbish bins.
I think it fell out of favor about 10-15 years ago and now it’s in a comeback . Close to Saint Tropez and it’s beaches make it a decent vacation hub. I’ll do an afternoon, that’s about it .
It’s a very curious parallel world but I get the appeal if you are a yacht person
Thanks again! I much enjoyed the drive along the coast. I guess it's hard to miss the few AMIs out on the open road when all you have a long line of honking cars filled with cursing Frenchmen following close behind. PORT GRIMAUD does seem to have a unique vibe, but what makes a place human? Is it not so much the architectural design but the design and dispensation of the residents?
Perhaps I'm I bit jaded from having been anchored to a Marina filled with wealthy inmates and castaways who's life's purpose had become one of inflecting misery and social relativism on everyone else, it became a bit too dehumanizing and I wonder if PORT GRIMAUD has matured into someplace human place or inhuman?
Not a clue Jack. Out of season 70/80% seemed to me to be shuttered up. I wonder how many people live there?
@@MeandMonAmi I just took a look and some accounts say only 300 people live there but over 1 million visit. I expect Mr. Boo could provide some insights into what happens to those shuttered properties.
Also, it appears there's even more to explore like some of an original village, a beach and history. There's also a lot of port Grimaud listings from less than 100euros to about 1,000 per night. Perhaps someone with one of those shuttered properties might provide a venue to host an episode. looks like plenty of shore power sockets to give Elton a charge on a dock.
The colours of the buildings are similar to the ones found in Portofino ,Italy.
Yup
We're all a bit mad when we are 'in-season! 😂
That’s true! (Especially Halloween!)
@@MeandMonAmi 😂😂❤️
Mr. Boo and Tim what is the name of the song you play in this vlog? I love it.
Give us a clue.. haven’t watched this for a long time..
@@MeandMonAmi The song is Belle Epoque. Thank you for the reply.
Btw is plant based meat popular over there as it is here in NZ. ? Its what I have now plus fish….Laurie. NZ.
Hmm. I don’t think so. Don’t recall seeing it much
Can you please post the name of this song thats playing as you guys were driving. Thanks, great video as usual.
La belle Époque by Devil’s sway
Thank you very much
@@MeandMonAmi it stays in my head the rest of the day. Lol
really enjoying your videos! Can I ask, what is music called that starts your video please?
Thanks Simon. The Elton goes St Tropez theme tune is New York Chase by White Bones
@@MeandMonAmi Thank you!
Great video. What's the song and who sings it?
La Belle Epoque by Devils sway
It seems like it is a little like living on a movie set, the magic isn’t there as it loses its charm a bit. J did like the wild 🐗 boars. Wow
It’s weird because the detailing of cobbles and paving stones etc is so convincing..
You saw more people than I have ever seen in Port Grimaud. Thought Mr Boo might come out with the BooFact that Francois Spoerry designed an electric car back in the day, not as sophisticated as Elton, obvs
Now that is an Amazing fact and mr boo just looked it up!
Hi lads from Spain. Hope you are both well and that Tim's back is doing great. I was thinking that how great it could be to have something similar but smaller to the wartime American DUKW vehicle and be able to just drive off the coast into the sea and pop up onto land when one got to the next interesting village.
That would be amazing not sure they’d be legal though..
Now we know where the idea for Palm Island was pinched from.
Estate agents descriptions will change when the sea levels rise 2 metres !
The French Patrick McGoohan is just round the corner.
I was harrassed by a wild boar in Brittany, at night, whilst in my tent !
And it didn't stop there, . . the French Navy Special Forces were practising their anti-piracy routine using a helicopter over the local bay and used to take delight in hovering over the campsite at night to see which "Man they could blow down" !
Very good observation on the palm island. Very similar layout! As for your experiences in Brittany…
Its was entirely coincidental that I happened to be working for MOD at the time as a civvy ! When out walking one day (In daylight !) on the Crozon peninsular I came across this military helicopter exercising with a French corvette in Douarnenez Bay. They repeated the routine several times,. . .as you might in training. The helicopter was trailling a rope ladder out of the door and on it, about half way down, was a bloke with the full black boiler suit, balaclava, goggles, clutching a sub-machine gun, with another colleague sitting in the helicopter doorway, feet d!angling. Its was balletic. The starting position was with the helicopter, hovering below the level of a headland, out-of-sight of the Corvette, and then the helicopter popped-up above the headland and dived down into the bay in the direction of the corvette with the ladder, together with the service person, still attached , trailling behind in the slipstream . The helicopter came alongside the corvette, without landing the bloke on the ladder, and maintained position for a while, before returning to the start position and repeating. practice makes perfect. It really was "Because the lady loves Milk Tray" type of action. It went on for an hour, before I had to retreat as it started to bucket with rain - the exercise continued !
I got it on video !
Actually, it wasn't that surprising as the French Navy has a base in the next bay up the coast as well as there being a French Fleet Air Arm station nearby - the previous year when I was camping on the south side of the bay, the campsite regularly got buzzed early morning by Mirages, in formation, at low-level, following the. Coast round - a bit disconcerting to open the tent flap in the morning to be greeted by a sudden WHOOSH !
Port Grimaud, it's just Mediterranean style.
The wild boar being road kill, I think it would be AMI kill
Indeed though I have a vague recollection of seeing a facebook post in France and their ami has survived an encounter because the body work is very flexible
Definity not a Boaring trip.
Wild bores everywhere!;
Ia plage
Re a group of cyclists on the road……I believe that it’s called a ‘fkn nuisance” 🤬
Tim. can you remind me of the song and singer at 3.55 ? Please... There was another much used song or refrain that you have repeatedly featured in the earlier episodes - can you give me a couple of titles + performers as I would so like to hear them on Spotify perhaps... sorry to be a bl--dy nuisance but it helps evoke memories of your programmes... thanks, Bill Kerr. @@MeandMonAmi thanks Tim ...really enjoying our Ami ... perfect for running my wife out up & down seafront since she has had her licence retained by police and pending medical assessments.. we both watch you and enjoy ... as well as "Joolz Walks". he's brilliant , though in small doses !
Your memory is playing tricks Tim Eric F box is a funeral directors not a dentist
Yup. I think I put a graphic up. Not much of a joke if he was a dentist!
7:01 I’m happy to enjoy a meal of wild boar. Discuss. You could bring yourself to eat it if it was your garden they tore up 😊 Merci for another entertaining video. 💙🤍❤️
Oh yes they are very destructive
