Ah, that's the life. Simple, honest, sunny and with sand between the toes and other places more annoying. Aldi and Lidl seem to be an all-or-nothing kind of stores with the goodies aisle. Not a bad life at all, and far from the misery of UK drab days and hassles.
Excellent episode, I really enjoyed watching your daily routine and how the places that are thought to be the most expensive aren't always the case. With good choices and knowing where to buy cheaper but quality items, you can live within a budget that isn't always so high, Lidl is one of the best places to buy things at a good price and with quality. Here in Portugal, there are many, and they are always one of the best options compared to other more expensive places.
We usually stay just up the road from Chez Felix so we’ll be indulging in their pain bagnat in May. Totally love the gardens on the Promenade du Paillon. Lidl looks a lot better than in the UK ! On the beach in March definitely gets my vote.
As a cheap charly myself, I am a little bit disappointed, that you didn't mention the free water stations at the port and near the airport (and some other spots), where you can fill up your water bottle (with mineral water) for free. Would set you back 0.50 EUR per bottle, so really, dont miss out on this money saving initiative, especially in the summer.
I now have Lidl envy yours is massive compared to mine in Bishop Auckland, although I did get a twirly thing to go on my pressure washer last week.😃Ps. I buy Italian tea from a French company but they fit a coffee machine.
Just want to say that I really enjoy U2 you’re almost like family now my wife and I get up every Sunday morning and spend Sunday with the fillers in Nice .cappuccino and croissants but I must warn you the Dag steals the show i❤Bob Hope used to say never follow a dog 🤣😂🤣

@@MeandMonAmi We were last there in Oct 2022, so if it was remodeled we have something to look forward to, lol. We return later this year and need to know the specific British tea you drink. We will bring you supply. Maybe we can do lunch. My hubby and I have been coming to your neck of the woods since 1983. Keep in mind in would be import to the U.S. but still British. Until they started selling it here, from 1982 until around 2000 I paid my friend in Windsor to send me Tetley tea. Tetley is all I have drunk since my first trip to UK in 1981. Seriously what is your tea preference? Is there any way to send a private message? We will stay 7 nights in your area...probably 3 nights at one hotel and 4 at another. We have stayed pretty much everywhere in the 'French Riviera' but the area feels like home. Merci as always in advance.
I was so happy to see you sitting on the same park bench my husband and I shared just a few months ago while on vacation. We got cappuccino across the street (very close to the places you showed). On a separate note- see if your Asian market sells Silver Swan soy sauce. The owner of my local shop recommended it, and I'll never go back to Kikkoman again!
Oh, and another thought: although I don't own an air fryer, I have read that a lot of people use parchment liners in theirs. Saves on clean and prevents wear and tear on the finish. Just thought I'd mention that, because of your comment about the sponges!
Thanks Tim and Mr Boo.Really enjoyed this week's vlog. We are staying in our apartment at the port for a month this May. Can you confirm where the Troc is located in Nice . I cannot find it in the links below.
Very interesting but I was hoping you might dwell a bit more on the prices so one could compare. You did in Lidl but the prices were much the same as here, escargots excepted! Nowadays when they have French week, there's hardly anything and it's pretty expensive whereas Italian is so massive it lasts 2 weeks. The surprise was to hear that it's free to go on the beach. Where in Nice is that? Always thought it was all privatised and very expensive. The only place we ever found free was Menton and that was going back some years
another great video,Tim and Mr boo,as always,.we're was that emporium shop, would like to visit there, when we come, over on the 3rd of Apr.and if we see you would like to take you both for a drink.
Very interesting video. I can't believe you are swimming in the Med in March. I am intrigued with the gloves and the shoes. Why do you need them? water is still too cold? or Jellyfish? Thanks
It’s still very cold and I like to do 20 minutes at least. Even then I was pretty cold ten minutes after getting out. Up to Xmas I swim without wetsuit but Jan through April it’s hard to do very long
What a difference to your stay in Paris 🤣 Good to see that you still had a few Euros left for a pain bagnat and a bit of shopping... 👍 and see you next weekend
Bonsoir mes amis dEspagne. It's rather a long way for us. Would love to have a decent butcher's, but we have to make do with what a supermarket offers and that ain't a lot. Happy St Paddy's day.
This was wonderful! Question however, it looked like the beach you were on was actual sand, was that in Nice or Villefranche? I've only known the beach in VF to be tiny pebbles?
I can confirm Dewsbury Sports Centre is shut down. There were some gypsies in the car park the other day. The entire place is now full of rubbish. I wish I was in Nice.
We are going to spend some of the winter months is Nice. Can you tell me where the Lidl market you go to is located? Btw, we'd love to take you out for coffee or lunch while we are in nice (January, 2025-April 2025.)
in Britain, the price you see is what you pay, When I went to Florida, the price ($1.99) was not what you paid as they added on local taxes at the checkout. In France, if it says 1.99 euros on the shelf is that price you pay or do they add taxes on at the checkout?
THE CROWDS AND CHEAP SHOPS IN EZE HAVE COMPLETELY PUT ME OFF. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THE COAST. RATHER I SEEK THE SMALL VILLAGES IINSIDE FRANCE OR ITALY WITHOUT THE FRENETIC DESPERATION JUST TO WALK AROUND, ETC.

you sod! now I'm thinking I need to up my milk game for when I bash out cold brew (yes, sous vide) If I may, Aldi uk.at least do a.very good strong "gold" tea, which is on par with what I used to buy from mr waitrose, you may wish to ask someone coming out to purloin some or keep an eye out in case it is duplicated in other countries offerings, ..of course Mr Boo will have to stay outside if he's caught wearing his lidl logo emblazoned tracksuit there'll be hell to pay!

The only place we ever found free was Menton and that was going back some years
Only private beach clubs make you pay for a bed. Most of the riviera is totally free
You pair cheer me up, love it
thanks
Loved it! , A++
Thanks James!
another great video,Tim and Mr boo,as always,.we're was that emporium shop, would like to visit there, when we come, over on the 3rd of Apr.and if we see you would like to take you both for a drink.
It’s called Troc and it’s in the description below the video with map directions, I think..
@@MeandMonAmi thankyou
Very interesting video. I can't believe you are swimming in the Med in March. I am intrigued with the gloves and the shoes. Why do you need them? water is still too cold? or Jellyfish? Thanks
It’s still very cold and I like to do 20 minutes at least. Even then I was pretty cold ten minutes after getting out. Up to Xmas I swim without wetsuit but Jan through April it’s hard to do very long
Great video and totally love the daily insights!
thanks Daniel
Love the grocery shopping video! Please do s shopping trip to the massive pharmacy at Cap3000 mall!
Mr Boo could probably wax lyrical about that for weeks
Is that beach at villefranche? We found the beach at Nice a little bit too rocky for our poor feet 😂
It’s is. It’s much sandier in VF
What a difference to your stay in Paris 🤣
Good to see that you still had a few Euros left for a pain bagnat and a bit of shopping...
👍 and see you next weekend
Indeed. One minute you are drinking the wine the next treading the grape!
@@MeandMonAmi LOL... with the prizes of wine you have shown there will be no need to tread grapes 🤣🤣
Love your new glasses 🤓😎👓
Thanks I can see again ish
Great vlog thanks for sharing
Bonsoir mes amis dEspagne. It's rather a long way for us. Would love to have a decent butcher's, but we have to make do with what a supermarket offers and that ain't a lot. Happy St Paddy's day.
There are still lots of butchers in Nice and we even have one in villefranche. Some a lot more expensive than others of course
...get the merlot from chevalier de fouvert, 5 litre bag...cannot beat that one...lollol...
This was wonderful! Question however, it looked like the beach you were on was actual sand, was that in Nice or Villefranche? I've only known the beach in VF to be tiny pebbles?
That’s Villefranche. It’s mostly sand now at that end
I can confirm Dewsbury Sports Centre is shut down. There were some gypsies in the car park the other day. The entire place is now full of rubbish. I wish I was in Nice.
I saw a video and couldn’t believe the state of the place. So wrong
Another super video, great to see your daily life on the French Riviera. Is your spy camera some of those high tech Ray Ban smart glasses?
Thanks very much and I can’t say!;
Tims got two pairs of new classes...
We are going to spend some of the winter months is Nice. Can you tell me where the Lidl market you go to is located? Btw, we'd love to take you out for coffee or lunch while we are in nice (January, 2025-April 2025.)
There are a number. The one we go to is just behind Nice TNL shopping mall
Hi from sunny Wakefield
hi!
Great vlog today. Tim new glasses? Very nice. 😀
Thankls. Yes after 2.5 years Ive finally upgraded to sight!
Tim, may I say how handsome you are. @@MeandMonAmi
I was in Nice around 1997 or 8 .
The I went just gave me a tiny towel. 😂 😂
No pants?!
in Britain, the price you see is what you pay,
When I went to Florida, the price ($1.99) was not what you paid as they added on local taxes at the checkout.
In France, if it says 1.99 euros on the shelf is that price you pay or do they add taxes on at the checkout?
Yes! The price shown includes Taxes (TVA)..€1.99 =€1.99
@@rubyjools thanks for the info.
Does the Asian supermarket stock Indian groceries and spices? If not, are you aware of any stores in Nice that do? Thank you
It does stock lots of Indian spices. It’s very comprehensive!
off to have a Pepperami to test the theory
It’s the scampi fries that do it!
Yes I prefer the quieter places!
For me at least, the sound , left and right, was transposed. Had to put my headphones on the wrong way round to listen.

Ah yes, but is the coffee labs milk elastic enough for the discerning palate Tim !?
It’s pretty elastic though mine is… well today was..perfect!

If I may, Aldi uk.at least do a.very good strong "gold" tea, which is on par with what I used to buy from mr waitrose, you may wish to ask someone coming out to purloin some or keep an eye out in case it is duplicated in other countries offerings, ..of course Mr Boo will have to stay outside if he's caught wearing his lidl logo emblazoned tracksuit there'll be hell to pay!
