Adam, I love that you are getting to live the life you love. After meeting you in the parks a couple of times, I know you are the real deal. Keep enjoying every minute!
we have been DVC members since 2012 and have loved every minute. We are west coasters and there are definitely things to consider. The thing we wanted it for was that we knew if we didn't commit to something we would never take the time to take a vacation. since then we have taken a disneyworld vacation almost every year. The great part is not only do you buy to your home resort (ours is kidani village) but if you don't feel like doing that home resort, you can book at other resorts (most times as long as you are not trying for holidays and summer) including at the overseas locations. you can "bank" your points if you are not going to use them for a year so you can upgrade to a nicer room the next if you want. you can also use the points for a cruise, disney adventure (think a small group personal tour guide vacation). Better yet lets say you don't want to even do a disney vacation. you can trade the points into Interval international and stay at thousands of hotels around the world. Really though math wise if you take what it costs to stay a a disney resort (for example its about 450-800 a night at kidani village) x the days and do that even every other year you can get a pretty good idea. we have been 6 times in the last 10 years (2 times we skipped a year so we could get a 3 bedroom villa for a large family gathering) and go about 8 days each time. we would have spent double what we paid for in the rooms had we not done DVC and we still have 30 years to go on the contract. we have also traded some the remainder points in to the exchange (at the time RCI but is not Interval) and have stayed in cali so we could go to disneyland and in washington so we could have a staycation. im always up for more people joining but if you want to check out all that it offers my.dvcdreamitforward.com/LubO2XqbdFbk if you join great they give me a little something for the referral.
Years ago when the DVC first started we went and listened to the spiel-@ that time it couldn't be deeded to anyone else but the person/people who bought it-to our kids-or if there were ever any grandchildren, so we nixed the idea. I agree. (7:50) I think they should make every attraction/show/transportation poster available for purchase. When I was young, I really wanted the WDW Haunted Mansion poster at the MK entrance. We asked but they were not for sale. Apparently, they were sold briefly later on, but I missed the opportunity. Maybe I can own one eventually.
Some years ago I was listening to finance guru Dave Ramsey talk about timeshare. It was shortly after I bought my DVC. He said, in summary, that the only two timeshares worth buying were Marriott and Disney. Those you would get value of use and resale value. I sold mine last year when I gave up on Disney and I got back what I put into it (including yearly dues!).

Each time they became more built up less like tropical islands like the first time I went 1979, then in 1986 then 1998.Go to the island of Kauai if you want to experience the real old Hawaii. One side of the island is sunny other is rainy. CoCo Palms where Elvis filmed was supposed to reopen. I stayed there in Elvis cottage in 1979 before hurricane destroyed it. It was truly beautiful with lots of history. 2020 stalled its rebuilding. It should be on your list of things to see.

Yep they built the timeshare right on top of the old Magic Kingdom Lawn where they used to have weddings, events, and a free water show for park guests and locals. Just like Walt would have wanted it!

I was just at the Disneyland Hotel a few weeks ago for a work conference. I saw the DVC building from my room and wondered what it was and there were a lot of fences up for the construction of the new tower.
Yes, home resort....exactly why people still purchase Boardwalk and Beach Club...that expire in 2042 for home advantage to all the festivals...& walk or boat to DHS and Epcot!!
I got the Villas brochure & button too 2 days ago at the new DVC office in the Disneyland Hotel. He said The Discovery Tower opens Sept.28th & Your weigh in will definitely show you shedded some weight! 👍

I was really tempted to add on points with the VDH until I found out how much Anaheim was going to tax per point to stay there and that made it not worth it for us.
@@TheDailyWoo We just had to make the decision on do we want to purchase at VDH or at the new villas at the Poly and the $2.82/point tax pushed us to the Poly. That said those villas sure look sweet. Hope to some day run into at the parks. Have enjoyed your vlogs for years.

I was in my 40’s when I purchased my dvc ,but wished I’d bought sooner ! The flights to the USA continue to go up and we aren’t getting any younger ,so I’m not sure how much longer we will make the long journey to Florida ! Good for you enjoy it while you can x
I certainly wouldn’t be spending money on future vacations as the economy continues to cool. At this point, any income earned from YT would be saved. As quickly as it appears, it can be cut off. My guess is any income derived on YT will be first retained by YT. Creators will lose in the fine print. The YT gravy train will most definitely end for creators in tough economic times. This basic economic fundamental has always been the way and will never change for artists. Reality is what it is.
Disney Villas at the Discovery Tower could potentially be a hotel inside the park (!) if Disneyland Forward is approved. Could be an all-time "buy low" deal. Congratulations Adam! I'm at the point where All-Stars would be my home resort if I could afford DVC lol. One day...

RIP Disneyland Hotel fountain show. It’s like WDW’s water pageant. It’s not spectacular, but it’s a nice added bonus to the resort.
I also miss the Disneyland Hotel waterfalls that used to be there too. It's a shame they got ripped out.
