- The Banter Brothers, Andrew Harding and Matt Hince kick things off with a visit to the cruel mistress of fly fishing, Lake Otamangakau. The lake lives up to its reputation for big, wily trout but with some good old-fashioned hard work and persistence the boys both land enormous trout.
Lake Otamangakau provides wilderness fishing to the southwest of Lake Taupo. It is set is high in moorland with Mount Tongariro in the background. It has a stark, barren beauty and sense of isolation. The weather can be bleak and cold, or baking hot.
The lake is regarded as a trophy fishery with rainbow trout commonly exceeding 10lbs. The best fishing is early in the season when the fish will push up into very shallow water chasing bullies. It’s heart racing action for the angler as they sight cast to trophy wild fish in ankle deep water, but once hooked, the angler then faces an even greater challenge to keep the fish away from the extensive weedbeds. - Спорт
New Zealand fishing videos are never enough, I want more!!
Plenty more to come over the next few months
Nice work (as always) by all concerned. NZ lakes are so under fished, underestimated and underrated.

Another great episode boys 👌
Thanks mate, hope you are doing well
Great work, god there's too much to do, when we've been in Turangi we've explored the Waiotaka and Tongariro pretty well and next trip we might only just get started on the other tributaries, and then there's this lake to do as well, although a good problem to have, haha.
Great problem to have !! The Big O one of the best trophy lakes in NZ. They are not easy but worth the effort
@@GinClearMedia Yes and it's floating lines with green and black natural looking weighted streamers is it? That's what usually works for me in weedy shallow lakes, I just put the cast out and strip instantly.
@@WisdomWealthMotivation the fellas prefer an unweighted (or slightly weighted with copper wire) green damsel nymph that water is pretty shallow in parts
