First off, the sound, Josh created a new matrix using the one in the original video lineage below and with one another source only listed as
"Core Sound Cardiods(FOB)-~D8" (Thanks to the anon taper for this FOB which really filled out the sound here and to josh for making matrix mixes that really just sound great)
Video stuff:
Deinterlaced original video and converted to 1:1 pixel aspect ratio (these are both done because both interlaced video and oblong pixel ratios are not made for modern TVs, they were intended to only be used on CRT displays, which not many of us have been using for the past ~15-20 years... Deinterlaced the original 720x480i 29.97 fps to a PROPER 640x480 at 59.94 fps progressive video using motion vectors and a custom script that we've worked on for years specific to this type of video.
Spatial and Temporal noise reduction applied just enough to not lose any detail/fidelity in the original, color space converted up to match the gamut of modern displays, colors were then regraded and corrected to look proper. (and a lot more vibrant than old tapes will allow)
Few other processes before video was augmented and scaled up to 1440x1080p at 60fps
Fixed some chroma issues and smoothed out some other stuff, added some temporal noise/grain back into the video to keep it from looking too sterile.
Encoded with AV1 encoder ~20mbit/sec. Final file size is just over 15GB with the new matrix (16bit FLAC to PCM)
This one is obviously more of a restoration than a "mind blowing remaster" but that's beside the point. Making each video shine as good as possible is the point.
Approx 20 hours of human time editing, an additional 40+ hours of compute time using RTX 4090 powered machines with 16-core processors (5GHz) and we're here.
All previous lineage we used to put this together is below
All post-production work on this was performed by Josh Davis and Chrsitopher Hazard

Thanks so much,Haz...another crispy treat ❤ I was at this show on crutches haha
I recorded the master tape for this show. KM184's in ORTF config on a Vark audio tbar > 7' Canare L-46E6S cables>HHB Portadat 48khz. Handheld at approx 5'8"/5'9" about 40'-50' from stage dead center. I was going to use an Aerco MP2 mic pre , but decided against it because of the extreme stealth nature of the show. We did not record Bob Dylan. It was a team effort- Mic stand Thomas Cooper, Donald Swanson operated the HHB, plus about 8 friends blocking. There was one other rig in front of us that i noticed. I am flattered you used my source, please keep up the excellent work! Now you can update the "anon" :)
AWESOME!! This is one of the few audio sources i had almost no info on (except what is written!)
Glad you enjoyed the use of it and THANK YOU!!!
@@Hazard4K any eagles concert content?
This is sweet and1999 was a very high year thank you.😎
I saw the 10/30 and 10/31 shows that tour- it was a good time
The fresh new old stock of jams while I eat dinner are just immense ❤️
Thanks again, kind sir
caught more than a few shows this tour. Dylan band was on fire. Steve had left by this point, which was really bummed out. Trucks did ok, but he didn't know the material. Of note, this was homecoming for Penn State, playing Minnesota, on their way to the national championship. Of course they lost, so the mood around campus this night was a bit down from the local standpoint. I think my fav on this tour is Ithaca w/ Jorma guesting as well. Crazy how fast time flys
Thank you annyomous Taper and Christopher and Josh 🙏💥🎸💥🎸🤯🥰💘
You have DEFINITELY mastered the art of remastering!
I was there!
Wow. If this sounds and looks this good on my lil Android BlackBerry ~ I can only imagine on my home equip.
Looks/sounds terrific, Chris!
And I always, (in conjunction), dug this line-up!
Wasn't this like right after Kimock quit mid tour?
yes it was, and to say there was disappointment in the air, would be an understatement. After all the hype on the shows with trey, Steve and Paige, expectations were really high for this tour.
Trucks is obviously a genius but every song being coated in slide guitar gets a bit tiresome after a while
It's like those Dead shows when Hornsby played accordion on EVERY song!! 🙉😫
@@staggerlee4979 exactly, not very subtle is it
@@staggerlee4979 there are max 2 or 3 shows where that is the case, which is when he sat in with the band, around VA, after leaving the band full time. When he was in the band, he'd play the accordion, but not on ever song.
he also didn't know the tunes at all.
