- Arrival at Phnom Penh Airport, Cambodia! We will show you the customs declaration form, immigration card, and the Embassy of Cambodia in Korea.
We finally arrived at Phnom Penh Airport.
This is the moment when my dream of living and working abroad as a digital nomad comes true.
Many people easily receive a visa on arrival at the airport when they come for less than a month.
We came here with the intention of staying there for about a year, so we had to get an E visa that allows long-term residency.
As foreigners, if we received a tourist visa due to a communication error at the Cambodian airport, we might have to cross the border and come back, so after much deliberation, we went directly to the Cambodian embassy in Korea and obtained an E visa in advance.
The embassy informed me that after receiving the E visa, I could enter Cambodia and go to the immigration office within a month to extend the period, and I did not need a work permit. (He even said that 5 times)
But, it wasn’t. ㅠ.ㅠ
Still, I gained valuable experience applying for a visa at the Cambodian embassy in Korea.

3월에 캄보디아 가는데 도착해서 E비자로 신청해도 1년짜리 비자 나오는
건가요...?
저처럼 대사관이나, E비자 신청 사이트에서 미리 신청하고 오시기도 하고, 아니면 E비자를 처음 입국시 공항에서 받으셔서 한달안에 연장을 하시더라구요.
처음 입국하셨다는 전제 하에, E비자를 한달받으셔서, EB비자로 6개월을 연장하시길 추천합니다. 원래 EB비자는 비자와 별도로 워크퍼밋도 추가로 필요한 비자인데요. 첫 6개월은 워크퍼밋이 면제 됩니다. (워크퍼밋은 아직 안해봐서 얼마인지 모르겠어요)
입국 때 공항에서 E비자 신청 1개월줌.
2주쯤 뒤에 여행사에 가서 EB비자 6개월만 연장 신청
(6개월 연장비 160달러 21만원가량, 여행사마다 수수료가 다른 듯 합니다)
-입국 후 2주뒤에 신청해도, 비자는 첫번째 비자 끝나는 다음날부터 계산해서 6개월을 주시더라구요.
그리고나서 7개월차에 비자 만료 2주쯤 남기시고 여행사 가셔서 워크퍼밋과 함께 비자 연장이 필요합니다.
비용이 2가지가 들게 되는거죠.
저는 이렇게 알고 있는데, 우선 저는 1개월받고 6개월 연장해서 7개월을 받은 상태랍니다. 그 이후에는 외국을 나가서 찍고 오든, 워크퍼밋까지 해서 연장하든 결정을 해야할 것 같아요. 아직 결정을 못했습니다~
아..적다가 생각났는데, 예전에 시엠립에서는 단기 관광 비자 외에는 잘 처리를 안 해주려고 해서 한참 실갱이를 한 적이 있습니다. 제가 그 때 관광 비자 연장해서 3개월 있으려고 했었거든요. 정말 너무너무 어렵게 받아서.. 그때 기억때문에 그냥 대사관 가서 미리 EB비자 받고 온것이기도 합니다.
저는 혹시나 장기 체류가 가능한 비자를 처음에 못 받게 될까봐, 실패시 베트남을 찍고 들어오는 루트도 생각해보고서 비용을 저울질했더니, 그냥 한국에서 대사관 다녀오는게 더 싸서 그렇게 했어요.
이 분야의 더 자세한 전문가가 필요하시다면, 네이버에서 "캄보디아 배낭 여행기" 카페에 가입하셔서 활동하고 있는 업체에 문의하시는 것도 추천합니다.
1년 계획하시는 분들의 고민이 무척 크시리라 생각되고, 저도 준비하면서 망설였던 것들, 궁금해했던 때들이 생각나서 길게 아는대로 다 적어보았습니다.

제가 캄보디아 그리고 라오스 배낭여행을 계획하고 있는데 저는 백베킹을 생각중입니다. 취사도구나 침낭등등때문에 베낭의 무게가 좀 나갈것 같은데 캄보디아는 기내수화물과 위탁수화물 무게 기분이 어떻게 되는지 알고 싶습니다. 혹시 자세한 설명 나온 사이트 링크라도 좀 가르켜주시면 안될까요?
