  • A while ago I made a biltong cabinet ( • DIY Biltong Drying Cab... ). The biltong came out great and we needed something to cut it with. In this video I make a hand operated biltong carver.

    Nice job. I need to make one of these. Question; why is annealing required before drilling the hole through the blade? Does it make the metal more durable around the pivot point or is there another reason?

      It is done to reduce the hardness and make it possible to drill the hole.

      Sure, the cleaver is 32x18 cm and the board is approxiametely 30x15 cm. The rest is fit to size depending on where the hole is drilled.

    Lol. You use the pushing tool on the end of the wood which is the furthest from the saw blade, yet your thumb is right next to it....
