This game made gems and wumpa fruit completely worthless. Originally the idea of gems is that you get ONE for smashing all the boxes in a level. Now you get 4 for doing the same thing. Technically you get 3 of them for collecting wumpa fruit, but you'll never have to go out of your way for fruit. Just get the boxes, and the wumpa that comes with them. This WOULD have been fine if the clear gems functioned as a sort of currency where you collect gems and spend them on skins of your choosing. BUT since all the skins are linked to specific levels, there is factually NO REASON AT ALL to reward more than two clear gems per level. (The second coming from the death counter) Wumpa is even more useless than that now. Before, it served to give you extra lives. But now, because of the god damn death counter, they instead serve to reward you clear gems, which I just explained was objectively pointless. This game literally devalues your childhood treasures. What's even more fucked up is that it counts your failures, instead of your blessings. Forcing you to focus on your pointless deaths, rather than valuing your life. This game is, no joke nor exageration, a MOCKERY of the original trilogy, without even mentioning the scummy practices of n.verted mode, janky controls, perfect relics, and obscenely hidden boxes.

Yeah to take the everlasting piss out of those dumbass journalists who never play anything like Crash, let alone respect for old games, bunch of filthy casuals they are, sometimes i think this whole Crash is Dark Souls thing has gone too far and somethings of Crash 4 are way too difficult for me to really sink my teeth into at the moment, some aren't so bad and can be fun to take full advantage of your moveset to accomplish all, but other times it's exhausting, but yeah i am going to be playing Crash 4 for a while despite everything.
that's funny because I thought it was nearly terrible. It just feels like a rehash of N. Trophy in 3, he stays in the same spot through whole thing, the music doesn't really make an impact, it's very short, and it doesn't really get interesting until the last time before you hit him and then it's over. I mean the chase from the doomwagon right before it felt like a better boss, they should have worked from that and had you try to attack from on top of a similar vehicle or something like it's MM: fury road. N Gin is all about vehicles, I mean it's in the name.
@@gamerguy425 i mean its a crash bandicoot game it made since for that boss fight to be like that, too most children and 12 year olds they probably died a few times before they got it right. I think we should've faced off against Oxide at the end of the space area, then the two Tropys at the end of the future levels, and then finally Cortex at the end of the game, but that's just me.
You summed up my feelings entirely, Crash Bandicoot has returned and hopefully somewhat permanently this time! maybe we'll get a 9 year long gap instead of 12!!
As someone who never played any of the Crash games (to their entirety), I finally get it now. This game is excellence in platforming, and now I have to play the original trilogy. Even if I already have the N. Sane Trilogy, I feel like I need to play the PS1 originals for solidarity
Definitely try out the original PS1 trilogy. There's no question the first game is a little rough but it's still a nice experience in and of itself and as you venture into Crash 2 and Crash 3 you'll see how the game (in terms of control) got better.
I love this game, but you’re right about N. Tropy’s wasted potential as a villain. I wish Dr. Cortex had just been the main villain though the entire game and that that he and Tropy had just split up as soon as the first time rift opened. Then at the end we could have had the two N. Tropy’s meeting each other or something. I really hope that Tropy takes the centre stage as the final boss in a future game. He is much more threatening than Cortex.
@@ShadwSonic Sounds similar to a scrapped Twinsanity sequel idea that the devs had of the other scientists (Brio, N.Gin, N. Trance and N. Tropy )getting tired of Cortex's failures, throw him out and decide to kill Crash themselves
Great review, completely agree with you on N Verted mode, the ones that actually change up the gameplay like the sonar light one and paint one are so much fun, but the ones that are just a visual change are really boring. Also agree with you on the Tropys being wasted, I wouldn't have minded the story playing out like it did if the boss fight was more climactic to match, but it wasn't. It felt like you were suppose to fight them with all the different characters like the final boss in Twinsanity.
@@anotherhappylanding4746 That is definitely what I thought, I even mentioned it to my bf who was with me. The video seems to imply they are all going to fight together and then suddenly they are gone. There's also another moment, I can't remember which one, where it's implied Crash and Coco are going to do something together, and then the game starts and it's just the character you picked. It definitely feels like those cutscenes were made with something else in mind.
I’m surprised Jak hasn’t noticed the Spyro and Skylanders Easter Eggs in this game! (Specifically the Spyro Pool Floaty, and the Eruptor Parade Balloon) Or at least they weren’t directly mentioned if he did notice them.
Theres a lot i like about this game. But as a completionist i think some levels have wayyyyyy too many boxes and secrets. In crash 1-3 the average box count was in the 20-60s In crash 4, you routinely see levels with 2-300 boxes. Makes it a bit of a chore. Not to mention the n. Sane relics, n. Verted levels, and crystal merely based on how many wumpa you collect. Just seems like they thought more was better.
Just Finnished the game, and I have the same thoughts, the game sure gave us some good information of what actually happened back in crash 3, and I am well sure of spyro 4 in 2021 hopefully!

When the Alternate Tawna was revealed, I speculated that if Crash and Coco hadn't been killed in her universe, it could've been possible that instead, Cortex was successful in brainwashing Crash and Coco, and they were the villians there.
I'm so glad I avoided all leaks and spoilers, becuase THAT character that you said was our first leaked glimpse of this game... was a total surprise to me! Shame about what happened there but hey, still good.
Difficulty aside, one of the best parts of this game is unlocking those awesome skins for both Crash and Coco. By the time you reach the ice section, the gems you need for the levels skin increases past 6, meaning you must conquer the inverted levels as well. Of course, the last 6 levels may seem impossible to get even 10 of the 12 gems (with 2 levels in Cortex Castle requiring ALL 12...) But, that effort is like a wearable trophy the devs give you for conquering the level. They want to give you a fair reward for all of your hard work, and at one point I might just challenge myself to complete the set...
Honestly the skins are one of the best parts of the game. There's a lot of detail and variety, and something about the player's character being in a different outfit makes the levels worth replaying in and of itself.
Been absolutely dying for this review Jak! You’ve always been my go to Crash guy ever since finding your Twinsanity video years ago. Top class video mate
Yayy!! 😁 I've been really looking forward to your verdict on this game Jak. It's easily the hardest Crash Bandicoot game I've played, without a shadow of a doubt 😛 Hope you're keeping safe and thanks for more amazing content ❤ Love the amazing thumbnail for this video.
This is not the best Crash game, it is overly ambitious and animal riding sections like the alien control like ass. Warped and Cortex Strikes Back are better. This is still a great sequel which we deserved after so many years and I'm glad we got it!
The additional challenge this game brings is a welcome change of pace for the series, much like switching antagonists, more playable characters and the new quantum masks are elements that bring a fresh twist on the established Crash Bandicoot formula, and I have a feeling the next game after is going to be wild. Also, with Tawna, the booty's always calling, when nobody else does...Sorry, just putting it out there.
True, i do hope that Alt Tawna gets her own Adventure, maybe a story DLC episode starring her with new abilities or a side game perhaps with her thing being a Sudo Tomb Raider with beat em up elements with a pulp action adventure style to boot like say Indiana Jones and stuff like that, possibly including other characters from throughout the series in something like that, I could easily see Hasty being used since he's a pilot after all and flying Tawna around different locales in a Globe Trotting kinda thing.
After so much hype this game almost became the best in the franchkse, but then it went down the same rocky road as Sonic Unleashed and disappoint me. The purple gem was cut for no reason and with all the different dimensions, there could have been more Crash villains showing up, but no, the potential was wasted. The N Sanely Perfect Relics also provide such an unnecessary spike in difficulty. I usually like Crash, but after this one it's going to be a long time before I willingly get hyped up for a game again.
This is the first Crash game to... 1) have more than 5 worlds (6 if you count Warped and Wrath of Cortex's special worlds) 2) Have Dingodile and Tawna playable 3) VHS tapes as collectables 4) Being able to Wall Run 5) To have cuss words 6) Where Aku Aku spin around you kinda like CTR's invincibility 7) Introduce a mirror mode 8) To debut the fire crate, red ring crate, and gold wumpa crate 9) Louise, Female N Tropy, and quantum masks makes their debut 10) Make wumpa fruit part of 100% completion (Unless you count unlocking portals in Crash Purple)
I love this game without a doubt, but what gets me though, is that they barely did anything with the multiverse concept. There was a completely HUGE wasted opportunity to delve deeper into the multiverse and see other iterations of crash and friends. We should've seen a twinsanity version and titans version of the characters like something from spiderman no way home. More narrative is also something we could've used more of. Also I agree that the "last boss" fight with the N. Trophys was dogshit, and was horribly mishandled. It could've been so much better. Lastly, the music wasn't all that great. Aside from a couple of tracks, why is the music emphasis so much on dull atmosphere? Barely any tracks were a bop to listen to and that is CRIMINAL in a Crash game. I'd say a good 7.5 out of 10 is deserving.
Hey, Jak. I want to thank you for the content you produce. I'm not doing okay right now, but I'm watching one of your older videos; and it's putting me in a better mood. I don't know how often you get messages like this, but I want you to know that I genuinely appreciate your efforts. Thanks again.
I really think the grind just ruins this game. I’ve 100% completed it but only got half the platinum relics and half the N sanely perfect relics. But it’s just such a pain in the ass that I don’t want to bother. The other Crash Bandicoot games were never this grindy and I’ve fully completed them countless times but I will never replay Crash 4 again.
Good review, and while i have a lot of fun with Crash 4, i simply cant say that is the best Crash game, especially for some big flaws with the level design that have some cheap difficult spikes, box placements and the simplicity vs complexity that makes the trilogy better in some points.... CTR and Warped are still the peak of the series for me.
After seeing your video on this game it makes me want to go back to N. Sane Trilogy replay the trilogy then play Crash 4. Great video Jak and here’s to Crash’s bright future!
Imagine living under the hellish rule of the Australian government and on top of all their horrific laws you also have to look at that massive ugly rating logo on the cover of your games! Idk how everyone in that hell hole hasn’t moved to a different country!
I played the 2 and 3 and I just got done playing this one. Shocking how challenging it was, I originally was gonna do a completions run like I did on 2 but after a few levels I knew that wasn’t gonna happen lol
I actually got the game and I'm not planning on 106 percenting this game, instead I plan on playing all of the levels including the flashback levels so I can get more out of this game
I've been waiting to hear your thoughts about this game! I truly admire the passion you put into making all your videos Jak. Can't wait for another review on CTR! Have an amazing week bro
I agree with everything in this video, but as for the characters, I just wished they made more bonding cutscenes and maybe even a boss battle were you have to play with all of them. It would've made it just a bit better storywise, and it would made Tawna's arc, about her being 'soloing' everything, much better.
The Tropy battle should have been the one that where all the characters are playable. All the characters show up in the cutscenes before and after the battle.
Yeah, if I had an entire straight year to waste, I still doubt I'd ever be able to platinum this game, the later stages took me over 30 deaths to complete each, when I started the game I thought I'd have a chance if I just kept reloading the level, that stopped about 30% into the game, this game's difficulty is brutal, I don't even want to imagine trying to complete the time trials for them, even barring the developer times.
I love Crash 3 and would like to try Crash 4 but I was really worried by watching the gameplay trailers because the stages look like were too much and almost like a puzzle plataformer that you have to find the perfect way to traverse it or you just can't proceed. By watching the review and hearing that it Stormy Ascent all over the place and that they threw away some simple level designs and pushed everything up to 11 on the difficult right at the beginning and by the end the it definitely becomes a puzzle plataformer where you have to constantly switch masks and activate or deactivate it's power in the middle of the run and traverse a long part of the level doing it....man this feels stressful and not the kind of experience I was expecting nor looking forward. I'll probably wait for a deep sale to grab it eventually but I'm pretty sure I won't enjoy it as much as I did Crash 3.
You are right the difficulty is too high its harder than crash 1 no contest and boxes are so well hidden here in every level that' its impossible to find them all without a online walkthrough and if that wasn't bad enough the levels drag on and costumes are only unlocked by finding hidden gems and not dying challenge some enimies you can't even kill this game is for die hard crash fans and for those who love hard platformers.
@@jam9852 dang :( Yeap when I saw 500 boxes on the review I was like maaaannn this level must be hugeeeeee! That shit probably gets old quick and bring all sort of anxieties and a bad feeling that the level is taking forever and any mistake could cost 10min of getting throughout the same obstacles again 'cause the checkpoint was really far behind. By watching the gameplays, some of the level designs remind me of those insane levels people build on Mario Maker where you must be absolutely perfect to beat it and that's not something I like! I really like plataformers but once they pull this shit it starts to feeling more like a rhythm game than a plataformer, you have to memorize your inputs and repeat them precisely and the right time for 5min straight... that's absolutely not what I want on my plataformers.
@@andremalerba5281 I agree and this hurts to be this honest with a franchise I've supported since it first started crash is my favourite platformer of all time and I grew up with the originals. 500 boxes? I didn't know they added that much I'm at 35% anyway if they add a easier mode in a patch with less than 248 boxes to get I say pick it up but until then either avoid or wait for a price drop.

Thank god finally someone actually says something logical about the story. It definitely isn't that good for the reasons Jak talks about here. And tbh to me at least it was a letdown to see how the story went, even though the final twist in the end was really clever.
Fantastic review as always. I'll be skipping it so due to difficulty. I'm sure I could do it but I dont want to. Gone are the days I put myself through that for a game
Getting through the main game is nothing achievable, it's mostly the additional collectables. I'd suggest give it a go because it is so much fun ignoring the 100% completion items and just exploring the levels.
@@SquareEyedJak I would but I didn't enjoy the trilogy when that came out after the half way mark, just found it annoying when I kept dying. Maybe when it's a tenner in a few months I might get it.
Spectacular review of a phenomenal game! I kind of have to agree with you on the N.Tropy part and a couple other nitpicks too as they could've been so much more fleshed out. But in the end however, it came out as the marvelous game all have us have been waiting for until now.
>has a playable cortex >has a character with a grappling hook why do i feel like this is activision trying to test the waters for a twinsanity-esque game?
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time sucks. It's not as good as Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. In Warped, there were power-ups that you would get after defeating all of the in-game boss level characters. The only power-up that made a return in It's About Time was the double-jump and now it is a permanent move throughout the game without having to achieve it after defeating an in-game boss character. The power-ups from Warped that did not make a return in It's About Time were the super-charged body slam, the death tornado, the fruit bazooka and the speed sneakers. Toys for Bob sucks. They are not as good as Naughty Dog. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time lacks the Naughty Dog engine. Same goes for the remakes of Crash 1, 2 and 3 collectively known as the N. Sane Trilogy. The remakes of Crash 1, 2 and 3 lack the Naughty Dog engine. The Crash Bandicoot series belongs in the PlayStation 1 era.
So the game sucks because there is no power ups? The power ups makes the game too easy. And warped is already an easy game. In warped the double jump, tornado spin makes platforming way too easy. Then the bazooka on top makes it easy to get boxes in places where you have to platform and destroying enemies. This is my fav Crash game. If I were to complain it would be about something else like the hidden boxes, aiming Cortex gun in 3d, the bears controls etc.
For the N.trophy boss battle I would've made it where you play as all the characters like the female N.trophy you play as Tawna and Dingodile and for our N.trophy you play as Crash, Coco, And Cortex.
I feel like this game capitalises too much on the nostalgia of the original 3 games, but it's great to see a brand new Crash console game for the first time in so many years that isn't a remake.
Honestly I'm still in the middle of playing the game and haven't beaten it yet and by the looks of it, it's going to be awhile what with personal life things and whatnot but anyway, I was really trying to hold off on spoiling myself with this game but as soon as you uploaded this review I was like... "Fuck it..." So I bit the bullet and watched. I'm sure that the experience of playing it will still be as rewarding even if I get spoilers. Anyway this was a great review but I wasn't expecting anything less from one of the top earlier contributors to the Crash Bandicoot series. Honestly I'm pretty mixed so far. I agree 110% that the Art Direction of this game is phenomenal. Cartoony, vivid colors, and full of expression, it's just.. I can't really think of the right word to use to describe how much i love the art style and direction in this game. The best thing about it is that it does feel like an honest to God true progression of the original art style from the original Naughty Dog Trilogy. I especially love Crash's new design. It's built upon the original model but modernized in a tasteful way that still manages to look adorable + cool and not jarring at all, just AMAZING. The only design I'm a little "eh" with was Tawna's, not really digging the hair and I would've preferred 1, they gave her a more Lara Croft -esq type of look as a neat throwback to the 90s and 2, they just made this the REAL Tawna, not an alternate dimension version. I mean hey, what's so bad about Tawna spending all her time away training and going on adventures? That would've been so cool in my opinion. Now the thing that I'm pretty mixed with is the difficulty. I'm just gonna be honest, I was never one of those Crash players who was truly invested in the time trials and speedrunning and all that jazz, I was just someone who was more of a casual Crash player who liked when the difficulty was more in the middle as well as taking in the world design, music, and what little story there was. So really, I'm very shaky with the difficulty spikes throughout this game and I know, I know. "Get Gud" and all that. I'm not gonna sit here and say that the game is shit because it can be brutal at a lot of points. However for someone who is more of a casual fan of the games and is content with a game so long as it's not piss easy, I'm not gonna pretend like I love super hard games because that isn't true at all. In short, I'm not really digging the difficulty spikes and the sad thing is I could forgive them if the later levels weren't so long but unfortunately they are and it sucks saying that because again, I love the art of this game. I can't really comment on the story since I'm not that far in yet but I will say that I do appreciate that they really went the extra mile to make the story more engaging than it ever was in the original trilogy. Anyway despite the unforgiving difficulty, I can tell this game was a labor of love to the classic fans and I knew that the hardcore fans were especially gonna love the difficulty of the game and for that, I don't fault Toys for Bob doing that. But for me, the game is artistic masterpiece, a true Picasso of modern day, next-gen Cartoon style for video games that I think present the absolute extent of where we can go with this art style in video games and I LOVE it. The gameplay functions and works near perfect, feels natural to control Crash and the other characters. All this said, I'm looking forward to Toys for Bob making another Crash game. I think that for once, Crash Bandicoot is in good, capable hands who know and understand what Crash is about which is a blessing after Crash's dark age. Amazing review Jak, never disappoint!
He probably said the controls are better here because they are way easier to control since the characters jump super high, don't drop as quick, you can double jump when falling and you can land on the edge of platforms with the edge of the character's toe nails.
I haven't played the game in a few days but goddamn I went through and did the last 3 worlds and beat the game at 5am just to tune into this review. Pretty much summed up my opinion on the game. Although honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of the death route half of the side characters levels. Was real annoying and tedious to do half of the same level I already played again. The combining of different mask abilities was something I was hoping they'd do for a good chunk of levels too. That final gauntlet got me to 81 deaths but goddamn I had fun. Great review as always! ✌
Crash 4: *Is difficult, slows down in the second half, etc.* Me: Still better than weird redesigns and recharacterizations (Coco got treated poorly at points between Wrath and MoM), Wrath of Cortex, Crash Tag Team. In short, it doesn't bother me.
Just a noob fuckup on the programmers' end that the whole level gets thrown out of RAM and has to reload in every time you restart a level. I bet they just gave the button the same programming as the exit to map button except just loading the same level over again. Shouldn't even cost a calorie for them to fix this and just copy paste the code from dying without checkpoint on to "restart".
Alright, thanks for doing this review, Square Eyed Jak! Can you please do Crash Bandicoot 4 Levels Ranked, please? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them. They were loads of fun
I still think despite being Crunch Time on steroids for the last Cortex boss, I think the final Crunch boss was better handled. At least that boss actually PUNISHED you for fucking up.
I really hope one day, Spyro gets this well treated like Crash. I could really use a new Spyro Game. Even if they remake Enter the Dragonfly from the ground up.
The designs for these characters are much more what I'd imagine they'd be when making the original designs for modern hardware. I don't know how they do it but Toys For Bob have made some of the best designs, visuals and animations I've seen in years, between Crash 4 and Spyro Reignited they're really putting some Triple A games on the spot lately. Also I know I'm a week late to this video, I've been avoiding spoilers while regaining enough sanity to get all the gems. The difficulty becomes mentally draining for me.
Glad that we got a sequel that most fans are able to enjoy. Wrath of Cortex was such a mixed bag which I personally enjoyed as a kid, but can see the flaws and sigh at as an adult. But the most important thing is that a game is enjoyable, which it was for some people :]

I know I could easily beat it but I know it probably took me a few tries as a kid. Your looking too far into it.

@@DukesFinalBoss and all your friends are here to celebrate, "sees Polar holding a bat ready to beat down the Bandicoot" . 😂😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes Twinsanity! 😅
I think we should've faced off against Oxide at the end of the space area, then the two Tropys at the end of the future levels, and then finally Cortex at the end of the game, but that's just me.
That would've been interesting. :) Or Oxide could've been a mini-boss before the Tropys in the space levels.
I cant help but feel they didnt have enough development time to include him and a few other boss fights. And cutscenes.
@@BIIIIIGMAN Makes sense.
Or at least set him up wanting to invade earth to turn it into a parking lot.
The PS1 versions are better than the remake, only the first game has weird movement and bad save system, and 3 also has momentum for some reason
Perhaps we go with the logical extreme, where the entire boss roster is a Council of Tropy?
@@ShadwSonic heck yeah why not. 😄
@Why Hello It Is I Dr. N. Tropy hehe.
@@ShadwSonic But only one N. Tropy is the N. Tropyest N. Tropy there is.
@@ShadwSonic Sounds similar to a scrapped Twinsanity sequel idea that the devs had of the other scientists (Brio, N.Gin, N. Trance and N. Tropy )getting tired of Cortex's failures, throw him out and decide to kill Crash themselves
Lani Loli being voiced by Richard Horvitz (Zim's VA) just suits him so well: zany, annoying and really funny.
and may i remind you that he also played Kaos in the Skylanders franchise (i know him primarily for that).
He also voiced Billy from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
Raz from Psychonauts
Considering that Lani was billy and that Aku was grim...
Wtf is zims VA
Great review, completely agree with you on N Verted mode, the ones that actually change up the gameplay like the sonar light one and paint one are so much fun, but the ones that are just a visual change are really boring. Also agree with you on the Tropys being wasted, I wouldn't have minded the story playing out like it did if the boss fight was more climactic to match, but it wasn't. It felt like you were suppose to fight them with all the different characters like the final boss in Twinsanity.
Oh my god YES! I hadn't thought about a multiple character battle. THAT is what this game needed holy fuck 😲

Excellent review, and I'm so glad you give proper scores. No funny business handing out 10s all over the place, devaluing it.
I’m surprised Jak hasn’t noticed the Spyro and Skylanders Easter Eggs in this game! (Specifically the Spyro Pool Floaty, and the Eruptor Parade Balloon) Or at least they weren’t directly mentioned if he did notice them.
Am I only the one who wants a spinoff game of Dingodile and Tawna.
That would be so dope
I want a Tomb Raider-esque spinoff of Alt Tawna.
Theres a lot i like about this game. But as a completionist i think some levels have wayyyyyy too many boxes and secrets.
In crash 1-3 the average box count was in the 20-60s
In crash 4, you routinely see levels with 2-300 boxes.
But if we do get Spyro 4 next year, wonder who is developing it

I'm so glad I avoided all leaks and spoilers, becuase THAT character that you said was our first leaked glimpse of this game... was a total surprise to me! Shame about what happened there but hey, still good.
The fact you can play as Dingodile (my personal favorite Crash character) in this game makes it officially the best Crash title.
An 8 to Square Eyed Jak is a 10 to anyone else.
This game turned out very well cause it was also co-developed by heavy iron studios. The same developers who made BFBB.
A lot of Credit should still be given to toys for bob who lead the development and did a fantastic job

Yayy!! 😁 I've been really looking forward to your verdict on this game Jak. It's easily the hardest Crash Bandicoot game I've played, without a shadow of a doubt 😛 Hope you're keeping safe and thanks for more amazing content ❤ Love the amazing thumbnail for this video.
Was anyone else hoping for an Oxide boss fight after he showed up?
Yeah i was at least expecting something, makes me wonder if they cut stuff due to time....
Always wanted to see Oxide as a boss in a platforming Crash game!
This is not the best Crash game, it is overly ambitious and animal riding sections like the alien control like ass. Warped and Cortex Strikes Back are better. This is still a great sequel which we deserved after so many years and I'm glad we got it!
Finally, the only review that matters when it comes to Crash 4!!
Too bad the new Tawna design has to be so revolting. Ridiculous.
This is the first Crash game to...
1) have more than 5 worlds (6 if you count Warped and Wrath of Cortex's special worlds)
2) Have Dingodile and Tawna playable
3) VHS tapes as collectables
4) Being able to Wall Run
5) To have cuss words
6) Where Aku Aku spin around you kinda like CTR's invincibility
7) Introduce a mirror mode
8) To debut the fire crate, red ring crate, and gold wumpa crate
9) Louise, Female N Tropy, and quantum masks makes their debut
10) Make wumpa fruit part of 100% completion (Unless you count unlocking portals in Crash Purple)
Wall Running was already in Crash of the Titans.
I just wish N. Tropy weren't a bit wasted and we could've see more interactions between characters
27:14 I actually really enjoyed that platforming through the air segment, thought it was really cool and really fun.
I want to see if they make a new spyro game like this, that would be awesome.

@@SquareEyedJak Thanks, man. I appreciate that. Also, I'm really enjoying Hawktober O2 so far. Keep up the amazing work.
I gotta say, i completely disagree with you on the N. Verted filters. I actually find them quite cool and visually pretty to look at.
I wonder if they will surprise us with micro transactions

Jack:this is the best crash bandicoot game!
Also him:gives the game a lower score than the original ctr.
Love you Jak, great review as always. But what. The. Fuck. Will a 10/10 take!
Great review mate. I'm still yet to finish but this review has me excited to finish it :)
@@jam9852 dang :(
Yeap when I saw 500 boxes on the review I was like maaaannn this level must be hugeeeeee!
It’s so sad how SomecallmeJohnny released his Crash 4 video 2 hours prior and has 11X the number of views. Your channel is so much better and will get to that level someday.
Thank you! This video should still perform well for my channel regardless, best way to help it grow is share it around. 😊
I love how Jak is growing into his personality, he is so much more laid-back and cheeky than before!
Spectacular review of a phenomenal game!
I kind of have to agree with you on the N.Tropy part and a couple other nitpicks too as they could've been so much more fleshed out.
But in the end however, it came out as the marvelous game all have us have been waiting for until now.
>has a playable cortex
>has a character with a grappling hook
why do i feel like this is activision trying to test the waters for a twinsanity-esque game?
I feel like they should have added a gem for beating the bosses without dying or maybe even a skin, best of both worlds
Too bad its being launched at the end of the ps4 cycle.
the best crash game... 8/10.
wut?
The game is more of a 8.5/10 for me but it sounds about right.
This is by far my 2nd favourite game of 2020
For the N.trophy boss battle I would've made it where you play as all the characters like the female N.trophy you play as Tawna and Dingodile and for our N.trophy you play as Crash, Coco, And Cortex.
Awesome review Jak.
To be fair this is the best of the 4 games
controls are better in the n sane trilogy, sad to see that squared eye shrek now has to shill everything activision sends him.
He probably said the controls are better here because they are way easier to control since the characters jump super high, don't drop as quick, you can double jump when falling and you can land on the edge of platforms with the edge of the character's toe nails.
Should've been could crash mania
I haven't played the game in a few days but goddamn I went through and did the last 3 worlds and beat the game at 5am just to tune into this review. Pretty much summed up my opinion on the game.
Although honestly I wasn't the biggest fan of the death route half of the side characters levels. Was real annoying and tedious to do half of the same level I already played again. The combining of different mask abilities was something I was hoping they'd do for a good chunk of levels too. That final gauntlet got me to 81 deaths but goddamn I had fun.
Great review as always! ✌
Spyro game next 👀?????!!!
Jak, why do you talk so slowly?
How can it be better than team racing and have a lower rating than it? Come on man it's a 9
It's not better than the original CTR though
The level to level map progression is way more outdated than the Warp room system lol.
Agree. Also, the color gems dont figure in the menu if you dont obtain it...
PD: Hi again! :)
The 3 life gem is ridiculous.
It's been like 3 months since I've been interested in a SEJ video (specifically the Spongebob video)
this is a great video 👍
I love your Vids Jack you are Great!
Crash 4: *Is difficult, slows down in the second half, etc.*
Me: Still better than weird redesigns and recharacterizations (Coco got treated poorly at points between Wrath and MoM), Wrath of Cortex, Crash Tag Team.
Sad that I cant watch it cos of the spoilers but yeah I liked
