    Do you have male cardiographers where you are? Im finishing my last few classes for my AA degree. Johns Hopkins University offers a 14 month program in my area that i will be pursuing, but i dont see much information in regards to men working in that position.

      Yes they’re are men in this field for sure. I had classmates that are men who are now working in the field. My supervisor is a man. You will be fine and accepted lol.

    Hey! Thank you for sharing. I’m graduating my program in two months and I am studying to take the Adult echo exam now. I’m a mom of two and I really want to find a job that is flexible (I.e 4 day 10 hour shifts or 3 day 12 hour shifts). I know many general ultrasound techs have that schedule but I’m not sure about echo. What times and schedules have you experienced?

    • @Geminitwins247
      @Geminitwins247  10 місяців тому

      As far as I know, if you’re full-time, the shifts tend to be 8 hour shifts at my job, we have 7-330, 730-4, 8-430, 8-5 for example. As far as I know I haven’t heard of echo techs having 3 day or 4 days schedules unless maybe if they were per diem or part time but they would still work 8hr shifts. I have heard of some hospitals having evening shifts though.

    Great video thank you for the information! I have my bachelors in exercise science since I was planning to go to DPT school but once I realized how much it cost, I decided not to go into that field. I interned at a cardiac rehab center and worked with exercise physiologists/nurses and really got interested in the cardiac side of healthcare. What would be the best route for me to take to become a cardiac sonographer with a bachelors in exercise science?

    • @Geminitwins247
      @Geminitwins247  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you!!
      Since you already have a bachelors degree in a health related field You might’ve already taken a lot of the prerequisites. A lot of the programs honestly only require an associate in science so you are actually a little bit better off. I suggest researching which schools in your area have a program for Cardiac Sonography, and then checking out their prerequisites and I’m sure you’ll find that you have the majority of them. Also to get into these type of programs, you are not required to have hours or internship for majority of schools, and the fact that you already work in the healthcare system may make you an even better applicant when applying.

      @@Geminitwins247 okay great! I live in NJ and most of the programs are either certificates or associates, and Rutgers has a bachelors program. For cardiac sonography is a certificate or associates all that is needed/ Will any employers want a bachelors specifically in cardiac sonography? I already took most of the prerequisites that the programs ask for since a lot of my pre reqs were geared towards getting into DPT school.

    • @Geminitwins247

      @@dominicnonnenmacher9260 honestly I don’t think employers look for that. As long as you graduate from an accredited program certificate vs associates doesn’t matter unless your trying to be a manager in the future then maybe

    Thank you very much for this information, I was deciding which degree I should go and I think I truly found the one. is it a lot of walking? or does that depend on the hospital I work at?

    • @Geminitwins247
      @Geminitwins247  8 місяців тому +1

      It definitely depends on the hospital. My job everything is bedside so we have to go to every room to do the echos in patients rooms which has its pros and cons. Most hospitals use transport

    Hi Breanna , hope all is well? Just a thought would you consider travel sonography gigs? What are your thought on their pay and idea of being a nomadic tech?

    • @Geminitwins247

      Good evening,
      As of right now I don’t have any desire to travel. I feel travel is a temporary thing and that eventually those that travel search to find a home base. I work at a place that I’m content at right now.
      I’ve met one travel tech from Florida about 2 years ago. From her perspective, she said travel work is different from when she first started as a tech, because travel companies don’t cover her room and board or transportation (like covering flights) but since they pay more I guess that’s supposed to cover those cost. I knew another tech that tried to only keep jobs within her state so that she didn’t have to worry about room and board but that got tough after a while because travel jobs can only accommodate so much. She now is working a permanent position.

    How is the workload at the hospital? Do you get a lunch break? Are they strict on time with each patient?

    • @Geminitwins247
      @Geminitwins247  Рік тому +1

      Every hospital is different. We have a 30min lunch break but other then that if there is patients in the queue that need to be done then you’re expected to work and do as much as you can. That being said there a days where not every patient can get done. Outpatient facilities have more of a set schedule where hospitals not so much.

    What if I’m not a talkative person ?

    • @Geminitwins247
      @Geminitwins247  8 місяців тому +3

      Honestly, it depends on the person some patients like to talk, then you have the patients that are quiet or that will just fall straight to sleep so it depends on the patient.
