My version of this deck was a tribute to my favorite DnD character I’ve ever played. He was a Minotaur Barbarian. I added creatures and spells that honored my party members. It reminds me of those good times.
Return from extinction might be the fastest card to go from really good to obsolete. They printed Raise the draugr. Same text, but instantspeed. You COULD run both, but there is no reason to only run Return from extinction.
When I started playing Magic, my first casual Modern-Brew was minotaurs tribal and I still love it. Maybe I will turn it into Commander with Sethron, this deck looks really straight forward, but still a lot of fun.
I was really excited when I first saw the thumb nail. I have a Neheb, the Worthy Minotaur Tribal deck and I wanted to get some ideas. I was disappointed that it wasn't structured the same way his other videos on deck techs were because he usually goes in depth with most of the cards he'd want in it. I do know you can take Minotaurs in some many different directions and some are only good when you play that one style so I totally understand why it is a more general build with the "good all-arounders" than a more detailed build. I wanted to add Sethron as well as the Bellowing War Cry to my 99, maybe even replacing Neheb but I have to basically redesign the deck since I did have a lot of Discard elements to help get the power boost from Neheb. Kaldhem does have a lot of new toys for I could use as well.
Oh wow, I literally opened a Jumpstart Minotaurs pack yesterday and was super excited... now I can be even more so! EDIT: Loving the deck, it feels very powerful! I've just realised Raise the Draugr from Kaldheim is the same as Return from Extinction but at instant speed, so even better!
With a relaxation on the budget, Sethron can be actually quite powerful. Adding in Cloudstone Curio can net you infinite minotaurs with Ragemonger and the 1 mana black changeling or the first Minotaur named in this video, then just activate Sethron for haste and the win

But I was dead wrong personally I think Neheb is a little better because the first strike is quite powerful and the hurloon general costs a lot of mana. I hope they keep printing Minotaur tribal they have been in the game form the start they deserve it.
Deathbellow War Cry is a huge play in the deck by the way. Always get Neheb, petrifier, warcaller, and rageblood every time. You get 4 tokens, your minotaurs get +1/+1 and trample, deathtouch, first strike, Haste, +2/+0 if you have one or less cards in hand, and +2/+0 when attacking. Giving all your minotaurs a great combination of effects, up 5 extra power each and bringing in 4 tokens in top of that. With Sethron on the field, and one token minotuar, you go from 6 power to at least 62 power with first strike, deathtouch, trample, haste and if you have 3 mana left over you can give them all +1/+0 and give them menace with Sethron. If you can't win then you can wipe some fields relatively safely since your minotuars kill, almost, anything that blocks them.
Hm... I have a Sethron deck as well but with a few differences. I have a Didgeridoo and few different taurs, aside from a few demons for haymaking. This deck game me something to think about though. Thx Mitch.
The list looks super great, and reminds me of when I first started playing, and I made a minotaur deck as best I could with what I had. Only change I know I'll have to make is putting in Mogis God Of Slaughter. He really should be a minotaur, but even without being a minotaur I think he's good flavor, and will still put work in.
fun minotaur combo: deathbellow war cry plus conspiracy (enchantment) lets you get 4 of literally whatever creature you want. Only ever pulled it off once and it obviously won.
Dang it, Mitch! Of course you release a Sethron episode a week after I build him! That said, you've got a lot of the budget highlights in here but you missed a big one: Oracle of Bones. You get a 5/3 hasted minotaur or you get a 3/1 and get to cast something like DBWC for free! Also, my build's 2/3 tribal and 1/3 group slug, so I'll add that mixing in GS works well for budget
I was really disappointed kaldhiem didn't feature minotaurs, really wanted another wave to come out to push me into this deck, but I just don't think it really has enough gas
Best card in the deck honestly. Love Ragemonger, he makes my minotuars free, but getting out first strike, trample, deathtouch, haste, and an extra 3 to 5 power per minotuar on top of 4 2/3 tokens is too good.
@@kurtishendrix there are minotaurs on each of the 5 colors actually. Plus, they've done similar things before like with Zaxara. Zaxara sultai when there are no mono black and blue hydras.
I miss his old style deck techs. From like 1and a half years ago. Pre covid. I dont much like watching Commander Quarters videos anymore. Once in a while I like them, but I dont watch every single one like I used to. :(

I made a Sethron deck and although it is abit pricey, Yuan Shao the indecisive is incredible in a Sethron deck. He makes all your minotaurs unblockable once sethron gives them menace. I use him as my surprise finisher in my deck.
Love the Merciless Javelineer. I have a German version of it & I can't resist trying and failing to pronounce "Gnadenlose Speerschleudererin" every time I play it.
Raise the Draugr (from Kaldheim) is strictly better than Return From Extinction. That should be included in place of the Return. (It's an instant with the same effect & MC).
I have looked through the (upgraded) decklist and the value section and I happened to not see my personal golden pick for my version; Cold Storage. And the golden picks for the upgraded version are Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Cloudstone Curio
Thanks! I'm a big fan of minotaurs and had a Sethron deck list for a while, but never got around to building it. No non-basic lands to highlight though? No reasonable upgrade segment? I don't actually know if you do the latter anymore, I guess you don't really appreciate something unless you want it and it's not there.
Maze of ith and maze of skophos are nice for flavor, he showed that one land that is also a minotaur(2 sided). Forgotten Cave fits the theme, witch's cottage is nice.
After watching a bunch of the new format videos, I think I like it, but not 100%. I miss having the prices of cards in the videos, and I miss having you go over the reasonable upgrades to the deck. But otherwise, this new format for videos seems a lot smoother.
Has Mitch been told by WOTC to not include certain cards (and prices) in his deck techs because when he does the market price of those cards gets driven up....
Dreamshaper Shaman might not be the best pick for this, it seems like you're going for aggro and Dreamshaper is better if your permanents have a high average cmc, so it won't be as good if your token is traded for a 2/1 Gnarled Scarhide.
Just happened to see this after my friends segested we all do a non meta triabl deck (not sure if this is a meta at this point in time or not (dont think it is) but thought the thought of them seemed look and saw this video but my question is the didgeridoo a card I should add to my deck or is that card not worth since there isn't any cards that are worth it for.
Your commander's colors include any mana symbol used in its oracle text. This also means any card in your commander deck must only include up to those colors in their oracle text as well. So the ability Sethron has for 2B/R means your commander and deck have a black/red color identity.

They're both excellent lands too if you're constantly swinging out with Minotaurs leaving yourself open. Good protection.

It's great. When I have that out with Urza's Incubator you can use a 3 mana minotaur as a (R): create a 2/3 minotaur activated ability (sorcery speed)

When they spoiled Sethron two years ago (?), I went on and bought Digiridoo and the other pricy cards then cause I knew I was gonna want this deck.
I will be building this one. I also own Urza's incubator, herald's horn and metallic mimic so those are going in the deck as well.
