forgot to mention: the 2022 Voodoo One (red) and the 2023 Voodoo One (gold) have the exact same barrel - so there won't be any performance increase/dropoff between those 2 versions.

Because I'm a fan of no- knob taper handles like the bonesaber and mini bell knobs on wood bats, in my opinion, it's an improvement if you can tape up the handle. What i would do is tape up the knob, adding resin between the tape layers in order to harden up the tape and bring back some of that weight lost from the knob breaking off

i used the 2019 voodoo one with a broken off-knob in highschool, so i used a rubber place-on knob to replace it for almost 2 years pushing it back on after each time it would slide down

great content again guys. A couple of observations, when you were swinging the knobless voodoo, you were pushing the ball almost every swing. Probably because you weren't able to leverage the bottom hand pressure to whip the head around. I would say, if you had a knobless voodoo it would be great as a training bat to assist you to stop pulling the ball and concentrating on timing and power to go oppo (which is way more beneficial in game situations.) You could also fix the broken knob by maybe using a mtb star nut that goes inside the forks.....
Thoughts about doing another video, but lizard skin and another brand make a rubber taper you can put underneath the bat tape. That would make it easy to make it seem like the bonesaber grip. i would be curious to see the results of that.

Perfect timing for me to see this video. My son has a brand new 2022 Voodoo (ordered and received in Sep) for his freshman college baseball season. The knob broke last week and of course, you literally cannot find a replacement 2022 or 2023 Voodoo One anywhere (33/30) without it being used or for 400.00 or higher. We will be waiting for DeMarini to ship one back well after the season starts. He is a smaller player and this bat is perfect for his hitting type. Why can’t DeMarini fix this issue??!!

So I’m not a new baseball player been playing since I was 5, but haven’t gotten a new bat since like 2020 or 2019 I’ve just been borrowing my friend’s but now that I make my own money I’m gonna get a real nice one, do you think the marucci cat x is the way to go? I’ve heard different things and I’ve heard overall it’s the best bat out right now and just slightly better then the voo doo, let me know if I’m making the right decision. (Please respond😂)

Good Vid Big Will! Great bat with garbage knob and cap. Senior year a new V1 lasted just a few games. New Replacement, lasted just a few games. DeMarini did not give a shit. I home doctored the knob and got a few more games out of it for him. Got a replacement knob from Big Dawg which looked like they molded it in their garage. Knob needed some customization to work..Beyond the average Dad with no tools and limited skills. Big Dawg knob is $69.99 plus about 10 bucks to ship. Based on the quality and the fact that it cost about .25 cents to make...it is a ripp off, but better than paying 400 for a new bat that is going to break. Unfortunately, he can not use it at his college because their bat sponsor is Easton. Big downer for the team, because most would use the Voodoo 1 because it completely smokes the competition. Old Man and Big Fan! Dream Job you got there Will!!

My buddy in college makes his own handles for his that broke. last one he made was made from a base of two poker chips. Was fuckin sick and light as shit

Probably 1 or 2 the Atlas is still pretty hot I think just don’t know how it would compare to the voodoo
Fairly certain on the website they tout it as the best/hottest, but the continued durability issues forced it into 4th(even lower now). I think it would be 4-5th (presently 6th) without the durability issues, because the Atlas still bangs, Select Pwr and Bonesaber 2pc are MONEY, and the CatX just can't stop being amazing. honestly it's kinda deja vu from 2021 with Voodoo One vs The Goods but instead of being number 1+2, they're fighting for 5th since everyone else got better.
I wonder if you could put one of those rubber deals that do over the knob on there and get it secured with some hockey tape.
We took grip and any residue off then epoxy nob back on. Built it up like the bonesaber. Grip back on , works perfect. 3 months into it no problems
This also makes the bat illegal to use in games.
kind of a silly interpretation of the rule. Not doing anything to cheat - just fixing a defective bat.
@@baseballbatbros it’s a direct interpretation of the rules. Bat alteration and defect rules are not just due to performance concerns but safety concerns. Any bat used in game that is not in as-built from factory condition is illegal for use. Period. A knob break is treated as a damaged bat. A removed knob is an altered bat. A knob break and a fake built taper in its place is considered a damaged and altered bat. You can also say it doesn’t fit the bat build requirements as listed in 1-3.1 as it has no knob.
You can also ask Stoneman Douglas HS down in Florida how this exact issue got a crucial hit overturned and almost resulted in them getting knocked out of their state tournament

Its not a performance enhancement like many players with shaved older bbcors which usually are the d1 prospects. The nob will never come off with epoxy as opposed to a small pin through rubber. And building up a grip is not illegal. I can put 3 grips on if I want
Don’t know if this is anything but I have a 2021 voodoo one that is customized that has never broken and I’ve swung it for 3 years, maybe it’s something that with custom bats they take a lot more time with
Last year I had to get my 22 custom sent back after endcap problems. I sent it back and got the 23 voodoo custom. Then my knob is coming loose, so I think it's with all voodoos, but it's common.

How does the bruce bolt bat grip compare to a lizard skin ultra? I often wear through it quickly and was wondering if anyone had a preference.
My 10 year old did not like it. Not as tacky as the Lizard Skins dsp and claimed it was slippery.
anyone else agree that with a better taper and just some getting used to would make the bat feel perfect? i went from swinging the cat 8 with 0 taper to the bonesaber in a about a month no issue.
tape a cap on the end of it for ur palm to rest it helps and is lighter

Voodoos were nobless in 06. Its never been fixed. First thing you do with a new bat. X wrap the knob and braid the grip.

As a HS umpire, assuming I saw that it didn't have a knob, it would be against the rules to use and if you want to take the risk of being ejected from the game and the same happening to your coach, that's up to you. Having a son playing HS baseball, there is no way I'm letting him walk up there with an illegal bat.

I feel like the biggest difference you had between the two was mental. That and you are just simply a knob guy. To a certain sense, just running pine tar on bat that lost the knob would actually make the bat balance slightly more end loaded as you just lost a decent chunk of the handle end but that's cutting hairs.
All in all, your best 10 with both, which knob-less just seemed like balls you kinda autopilot swung without thinking about the knob so much, we're basically identical.
