MANOR LORDS | EP05 - SUPPLY AND DEMAND (Early Access Let's Play - Medieval City Builder)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 кві 2024
- Manor Lords has been my most anticipated city builder since I first stumbled across it in 2020 - the medieval city builder with RTS combat elements, and an economic system that integrates the two closely... what more could I ask for? This series will showcase Manor Lords gameplay while highlighting how to play Manor Lords, providing explanations for various mechanics and gameplay systems. If you like city builders, if you like medieval settings, and if you like tactical battles, I think you might like this series.

EPISODE 6 is OUT NOW - ua-cam.com/video/S6jBuSJqkso/v-deo.html !
You demand more episodes, I supply them. Simple as! If you missed any of the previous episodes, you can find them all here - ua-cam.com/video/f16hXx4JRi4/v-deo.html !
Let me know your thoughts as always, and in the meantime, I've cultivated some plans for the next episode! Enjoy!
add a person to one of your oxen posts ... they prioritize heavy hauling delivery then ... and just do that while the unmanned ones are uhauls for rent ...
Remember Air quality is a thing and that moving people near the dyers shop and tanneries are going to make unhappy people. There was a reason for those old laws.
I'd love to see a place for Guards, like in Kingdom Come Deliverance where they have someone to stop thieves, trouble makers or to break up drunken brawls. I really hope we get to see even more things of ordinary life that just unfolds like seasonal parties and weddings. Just so much potential in this game!
Its so cool seeing this town develop, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Can we please talk about the music in this game? It's amazing for setting the vibe, and you feel like you're a part of the world☺️
It feels like I’m watching the Witcher
It's really good, the serene ambient tracks are my favorite
Maybe the fact that the Baron took out the camp before you is a sign that you should hunt down bandit camps as soon as they appear.
Yep
I was wondering why he waits in the first place? Is there a reason for that other than showing of to the baron? 😀
Mostly waiting because I don't want to slow my economy down right away each time... this time I just waited a little too long, unfortunately!
@@PartyElite That's a pretty mute point since you will have to slow down your economy ether way. So you might as well get rid of them the first chance you get. This way you at least won't risk loosing it to the other lord. Or you know you could just hire mercenaries.
@@PartyElite but does't it realy matter? It will take as long as it takes anyway... thats why I was wondering... speaking of wonder: wonderfull let's play if may say so - left a sub, I really like your like your style: sometimes "quick" and precise and then again slow down and take a minute to enjoy the scenery 🙂(sorry for typos - not my mother language 😀)
Let's go! 60 minute episode, that's what i like to see. Give us more 👍🔥
love watching you play manor lords, i hope this continues. love it!
You need to be making coal its twice as effective then firewood!! Really enjoying the series so far elite
Eggs is eggs... by the dozen! Oh and chickens IRL provide less eggs in winter, so a drop in egg production then is right.
With the great economy you have would it behoove you to import more food variety? Perhaps more weapons/armor? Maybe more clothes variety than shoes?
I think taking out bandit camps is a great source of wealth. I also think you're losing a ton of potential wealth by selling unrefined/cheap/important goods, like planks, instead of using them or refining into more valuable end-products for way more wealth.
loving your series, binged watched it to here, where i could no longer contain myself, lol:
if you turned off [clay] at the storage yard then transporters wouldn't waste time stealing it out from under the nose of the clay tile maker.
also, if you just imported a very few (even 1 at a time) of the oustanding required items for your current troops, the number and quality would increase a lot as they slowly took them from the stores.
The collective noun for eggs is 'clutch'.
Please lord play this series to the end! im enjoying this so far! This game will be a lot of fun.
There was definitely a lot of horsing around in this session but it's now time to hit the barley. Thankfully, due to the tavern, Party has been a barrel of laugh today...
The pun at the end absolutely made my day.😄
The horses are solely used by the trading post I think. If you can't find them they are probably on route to some distant market.
Haven't seen anyone use them yet, but I think the donkeys are the alternative for oxen.
Love the views of the town as it starts to grow, and I also really like the slower, thoughtful playthrough
Manor planning suggestion: since it is close to the main road, in later time "expand" the manor with extension towers as to roleplaying deploying guards through the road (and that can be usefull if the extension goes as far as to reach strategic locations)
It wasn't impatience that costed you. It was hubris.
ETA: Going to a restaurant with you must be literal Hell.
Yeah, I was just thinking: "Party, you're taking a while to clear that camp. You sure the baron's men aren't closer?" And then... Yeah, they were.
I mean, that's just me but knowing miself I'd be like: "Yeah. Baron's men are coming, I better clear that Bandit camp now or I'll forget about it..."
Yeppp - shot myself in the foot there. Gonna pay a price for that!
What i noticed playing the first release was that when you keep the animal population at 20 when you hunt instead of 10, it will replenish faster so you can hunt animals more often. Not sure if it still works like that in this version tho.
maybe that tilted land is a Blessings in disguise, maybe you can place a water well there if the underwater waterway reach that far, or place an ox to help the wood cutters in the area
When you said you're not familiar with that "language group" I was shortly temped, to write a very "well akshually" piece, but than you immeadly correct yourself - damn it :D
having a horde of archers sounds very tempting lol
Goosh this series is SO addicting~ I am LOVING it! This is a beautiful game through and through~ Keep on Keeping On, Party, and thank you very much for doing what you do!
Howdy there Party. LOVING the Gameplay so far..... more than likely will get this myself when the Early Access comes out. Couple of points. Can you put a Market Place on that Steep Hill that you couldn't construct on? Might us up some otherwise Unusable space. Also, Would it be worth prioritising the Manor? Especially to get the Retinue in BEFORE the Raiders hit...... I know it hurts you to slow down the Economy..... but having professionals there might help in the long run.
If you want to add a small hamlet next to the logging camp, you should design it with a defensive layout. It's an outlier from the main town, and in a historic sense, vulnerable to raids and attacks. The houses should form a sort of makeshift-defensive structure, so the inhabitants can barricade up and group up in the middle.
But if you consider it to be part of the original town, no houses should be added there. Dispersing houses is a clear secrity risk, and why should people want to live next to the workpits and tanner's house?
Absolutely loving this series! Keep up the great work!!!
You may want to start working on weapons and armor industry to equip your melee fighters. At least enough for a full company of 36.
You probably already noticed in a later episode, but I noticed here so here I shall comment: your market has no more room for stalls, so you will need a second market sooner rather than later :D
Love the serie. Please continue. I'm especially curious to see you build your lord's manor.
if you pile your collected eggs it's called a clutch ... if you put them in a carton its called a flat ... usually 144 eggs to a flat ... a clutch is just all the collected eggs
"This one time at bandit camp..." 😂
Having the garrison tower attached to the manor seems accurate and reasonable to me: You want your men close by and a good defensive structure to protect your family and yourself in case of an attack.
The Tax offices, when you place them, I also don't think they should be attached to the manor. Close, maybe. Surely inside the defenses. But Not attached. Don't want people coming that close just to pay the taxes. It's the Lord's house, not some shopping mall.
I think you could just drop down some basic walls and towers. Make it more historicly accurate: You start with a simple manor with circular wooden walls around it and as the village grows and the lord becomes more powerful he grows the mannor, adds new things, allows more people to live inside with him and as he needs more space he builds extra walls around the old ones, more towers, more defenses and more buildings. Seems more organic to me.
(Also, remember attaching a road before putting down walls. If i read correctly, you only get gates if the wall gets over the road. Don't want to get trapped inside your manor walls.)
First off, I'll start by saying I love your gameplay. I actually discovered your channel through looking for gameplay of this amazing gem of a creation. Have had it wishlisted since July of 2020! Very excited to play it soon! The main portion of this, though, is as you saw in the castle planner. You can create the outer towers and other buildings to expand your build range, and I would advise expanding your area for a larger wall to make it a proper castle worthy of your lordship. I would caution, though, building towards the hunting ground node, but expanding a bit into the forest wouldn't hurt just to create some space within the castle area. Great gameplay though again man, and excited to see more!
We need more! We DEMAND 10 VIDEOS A DAY! And don't come with excuses like family time or having a live... Don't rub that stuff in our faces.... 😛😀
Love this let's play, it's both relaxing and entertaining!
The snow is beautiful, looks so realistic how it falls.
I like to see people cut through their neighbors gardens, it's something I've done before.
All those families working at the storehouse have stalls, can you keep them assigned but make it so they don't have a stall?
love the small community part, but maybe be kind and give them some carrots? :D
loving the play through but can you perhaps put the speed on 2 or 3 times more often to speed things up a bit. I just find when you are talking to us you could have it on 3 times so things could progress a bit faster. Other than that i love the close ups and battles.
I respectfully disagree. This game's strength is in its slow development, its calm demeanor and it's the one game I have seen recently that allows streamers and UA-camrs to have conversations and long discussions about all kinds of things without missing the game.
0:25 I´m having a blast! Keep it coming. 🙂
im not sure how everyone else feels about this but im sick of watching you play this. i just want to play it for myself. this game looks unreal! cannot wait to get my hands on this! love the videos
This comment was a rollercoaster haha
@@PartyElite haha my apologies. Something I thought would be cool though when you are the "Lord" wandering your settlement,. The citizens would interact with you based on your approval rating. If it was lower, people would sneer at you, or if it were higher, they'd offer you stuff
Really enjoying this play-through. It's a gorgeous game, and the medieval setting and the detail put into bringing it to life is second to none. I'll be diligently watching through each episode you put out.
Also, I don't think it's the end of the world that you lost taking care of that one bandit camp to the Baron, but I do think you oughta consider prioritizing taking them out as soon as they appear on the map in the future. W well maintained economy can take the occasional "hiatus" just fine.
@ 40:24 "What's the collective noun for an egg?" Not a native English speaker (I'm Finnish), but I've heard "a clutch of eggs" being used. Also just "a dozen", or "a box of eggs" for some certain amounts of them.
I wish the NPCs gave you a little recognition as you walk by like a quick little bow or some dialogue like "oh milord, fine day we're having" just to give it a tad more atmosphere
Hi Party, I think you should consider a district style city plan to give each parcel or sector of houses can get enough food and other amenities access. It will be a long term undertaking but it will be really helpful in future and more systematic in the long run
I know I've said this every episode, but this game is so relaxing and soothing
Yeah so easy to just zone out to!
Wondering if I can put 'Manor Lords let's play' on my timesheet 😅
Great series! Absolutely loving it.
It would be interesting if there would be a "Construction company" building that you could get (more advance building) where builder could stuck building material in advance for building and also have a dedicated Ox & crew.
I think after you plan a plot but before you click the mallet, you can adjust how many burgage plots will be built.
40:20
"Lashings of hard-boiled eggs"
In theory, would you be able to build manor walls that encompass the whole village by gradually expanding the walls out?
Because that's awesome.
I saw a video where the Dev is afraid that people are overhyping this game, but this feels like Army Men RTS meets The Sims, using city planing ecconomy with Skyrim visuals. And I'm ALL about that.
The roads around your dyers shop and tannery have a few dead ends, and a few unconnected roads. The dead ends would start being reclaimed by the grass by this time, as they are not really in use. I know you said you're not really going to touch roads, but those dead ends would not be in use at all anymore.
It's also a personal opinion, so I'd understand if you keep it as is...
Edit: Also, I believe a collective noun for eggs is a carton of eggs
Edit 2: Of course you utilized the dead end roads in the next video, sorry. My bad, late to watching the series but commenting on them as if they aren't out yet..
I like to imagine Lord Elite riding around his serfdom, as King Arthur did in Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail.
Follow-up question: How long will it be before you can import coconuts?
More thoughts on this beautiful game - 1/ It would be good if you could specify how many chickens (hens) for laying, and how many for the pot. This could help in starvation scenarios - i.e. the chickens could be culled for meat but with a consequence later for egg production. 2/ Goats are being slaughtered just for hides, but also of course provide a substantial quantity of meat. I think this needs to be accounted for. 3/ I don't see cows, dairy or butter. This was essential for survival in the northern hemisphere. 4/ Do we ever get to see wild game, bears, wolves or the like? This would be great :) It would provide a hazard for the huntmen, loggers and such.
I know this is all alpha release, so just throwing these ideas out to you all to see what you thin. It's mostly minimal mechanics, so should be doable.
No comments other than keep it up! Greetings from the Netherlands
I'm enjoying watching this, as I recently got as far as I could, and nice to see how others tackled the issues I faced.
An observation, followed by a question. You say "Lets go ahead..." and "We can go ahead..." a lot. Is this a cultural thing? or a nervous tick?, Kind of like someone say "You know", or "like" a lot. Interested in your perspective.
Clutch of eggs
can't wait for them to implement cavalry
Another issue with farming is, crop rotation is busted. literally you won't get yields from your crops. disable crop rotation, and manually select or rotate your single crop slot in the menu, going from wheat to farrow to barley to farrow to flax to farrow. or wheat to farrow to wheat again.
but, i saw another video of yours actually, where you suggest taking on bandit camps as soon as they appear, but i saw my first one well before i had an army, and by time i was able to get enough food going to upgrade my houses to get my army going, baron already had like 3 or 4 other regions. so now i'm out of food, 38 population, a decent army i actually held off the raiders, but i cannot take on the baron with his huge group of troops just yet. we'll see how this goes from here, but next time i'm not farming at all because it indeed did hold me back like 6 or 8 families total just to finally get 50-100 wheat after about 5 or 10 years.
The collective noun for eggs is a bunch of eggs. Nothing anyone can say will change that 😅
Charcoal is better than firewood, I think. It's a 2 for 1 for the logs you get instead of 1 for 1 .
This channel needs a "as it were" counter for every upload
I was thinking, is there a game mode where you are on the map by yourself, and every few months enemies enter from outside the map to do a raid and your only job is to fend them off like a Tower Defence game?
You should check if the other Lord claims the bandit camps ... I saw a video about bandit camps being left there as the other lord leaves it unclaimed so you should check that spots again, unless that was changed in-game already
more shoes!
So where has the Lord been living up to now? Do we have a head canon for that?
What happens at the old battlefields? Are there a bunch of skeletons laying around?
Here in Brasil eggs goes by the Dozen...ahahah
I was wondering when waiting till the last moment to get rid of bandits would bite you in the ass. It came sooner then expected. So I hope from now on you will get rid of them the first moment you can.
Why not build storage houses for each separate section of product that's currently filling up the single storgae house?
Please add the extension to the foragers hut, it's driving me insane.
As you progress, do walls around you city become an option?
Is it wise to upgrade houses that are far from market if they are struggling to get basic needs. Or is there no moral penalty if you upgrade and they then lose say one of the goods needed for that upgrade ?
(You also know how else you get influence? Your manor! Not high or very high priority building. Oh well, live and learn to play easier for future playing for him and us! And for the record, egg groups are called "clutches." *Loud groan for "shoe in" pun. Take my pun like and get out!* 😁)
Why doyou want to build house over the stone pit?
That joke at the end…
i feel like the tavern should be where the church currently is, and the church should be up closer to where the manor will be.
Diary of the Party Lord's Architect:
Today we began work on the Lord's manor outside the town. I have recommended that our lord keep the circumference of his walls compact in order to minimize the demands on our timber reserves ahead of winter. He merely laughed and told me that those who lack ambition and drive will never accomplish anything. I have at least managed to get the tax office attached to the central building. Our lord has yet balked at placing roads directly to his estate house, though should he ever care to import horses for his retinue they will be needed. Tomorrow I shall attempt to convince him to place the tower wherein he shall keep his troops as close to the gate as possible. Wish me luck...
You have a whole village with great shoes and the rest of their clothes are rags.
Haha yeah - I've got that on the docket for next session!
Massive fields are a modern mechanised invention. Medieval fields would not be that large, just enough for a couple of families.
And watch out... raiders are due in a few weeks!
For sure! I have to temper my expectations on those farm fields, and prepare myself for the battlefields!
Is it possible to build castles?
I don't understand how you get hides from goats with out also getting meat? Do the goats have zippers? Hopefully they will add that soon. It must be in the plan no?
Milk too, for cheesemaking. Would be weird if that wasn't the plan ultimately
@@houndofculann1793 Agreed 100%
Be sure to upgrade the church soon unless you provoke the wrath of God. :P
How do you get early access??
Brilliant game - I think a nice function for the Lord's 3rd person view could be that before battle he inspects his troops and gives a short motivational speech... like a dozen different speeches would stop the repitition... he could walk up andown the lines orating, and the army gets a motivational boost for a short while. The boost awarded could depend on the Lords prestige boost. What you guys think? At least then there would be a purpose to his presence. You could do the same thing when visiting the market or industries too... repeatable say only once per week.
Can you put a well at you manor?
Is there a reason that you favour the chickens and to a lesser extent the goats over vegetables? I feel that they would all have vegetables growing and then gradually they would get the livestock 🤷🏻♀️
Also I don't get wy you didn't just make the upgraded church. I really tought it was time...
Lots of construction going on, only so many hands to do said construction with. But yeah - probably one of our early next moves
Are you going to do new Planet Zoo now that it's out? Please?
I'm puzzled, why do you keep expanding away from the market instead of building new homes around the church???
Could you please turn the game music down a bit? It’s pretty loud and sometimes it gets even louder suddenly.
With so much local wealth, why not hire some mercenaries so your economy doesn't grind to a halt everytime you need to fight?
Ah mercenaries actually use the Treasury! But yep I was thinking of using them more and more going forward
You're wasting your time on the "orchards", because there is a bug in that right now. The people won't eat them.
bro just play the game... this is taking forever
don't build houses without back gardens. there are no half measures in homesteading. your serfs want to live, build accordingly.
