May I ask why you are opening the bucket in length of the truck and when you are unloading grain you are opening the bucket sideways.
The answer to the question is clear in the video :) Since a sticky load does not fall out of the bucket, I have to open the bucket completely and hit it. I cannot do this in the side position because it will protrude beyond the truck bed.

13:05 This dude wants more? These guys have to be getting paid by the weight lmao. Thats crazy to me. It wastes more time to carefully pile more in there when you have 2 empty trucks waiting to be filled. I figured that this would be a team effort type of thing, Not a paid by how many grains of clay that the crane operator decided was enough. The crane operator fills them as quickly as he can without leaving too much room, but not wasting time on meticulously filling every little space. Things run smoother when he can get a truck as filled as he reasonably can and move on to the next waiting truck.

How much maintenance and/or repair do the clamshell buckets need, and do you find them to be reliable with regular inspections? I've seen other channels with similar (but much smaller) Sennebogen cranes who repeatedly have broken welds, pins/bushings and other failures that stop work and cause expensive time lost due to emergency repairs. Does it also depend on the cargo loaded? Those companies primarily handle gravel and crushed rock (roughly 2-5 centimeters), which probably is a lot rougher on the bucket than clay or wheat would be. And, also, thank you for making these videos and explaining your work and industry to us! It helps people like me who have nothing to do with ports and cargo understand how ports and the world work a little better. :)

This looks like heavy material, how do you know how much to load the truck so they are not overweight, or do they unload somewhere else on the dock?

Hello, yes, it is a heavy load. It is forbidden to travel at this weight on the highways, but the trucks go to the factory without leaving the highway.
