you have to call verizon and have a ticket upgraded to a level 2 to talk to an engineer and have the imei added manually to their database to get around this.
Woah nice job! Just to set expectations for everyone else: You have to get lucky w who helps you, if they don’t have experience doing it they give you a runaround. I haven’t heard of this working until now. Many even at the Apple Store go through this method. How long did that take?
What nobody is discussing, or I can’t find any video on is… When you do this, you LOSE ECG, Apple Pay with your credit cards(only Apple Cash), you lose many of the functions that you get with linking YOUR OWN Apple ID to the phone. BUT… if you link your Apple ID to the phone, it won’t allow you to use the new cellular plan you have for the watch🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽😳🤯🤬
Yes. You need to make a SEPERATE Apple ID for your Standalone watch. You then add that ID for the watch after setting it up to Family Sharing like I displayed in the video. At that point you have all subscriptions shared with your watch ID and should regain functionality.
I recently bought cellular unlocked version of apple watch. I am planning to buy an iPhone from Red pocket which is an MVNO that will use AT&T network but they dont support Apple watch cellular. Will i be able to take a watch line from T-Mobile or AT&T directly and use the cellular (not Bluetooth) on Apple watch?
Oh yea, you should be alright! As long as the watch is unlocked & the cellular model, like you said it was, then when you get the standalone cellular plan from ATT or TMO to have it's own number & data then follow this video. Normally, when you have your watch & phone on the same carrier, you can link them together and have a data line so that the number on your watch is the same but it has connection when you're away from your phone.
Thanks for the video. One question, I'm still confused, i have an e sim but where shoud i connect it to? Because I use Telia on my iphone and Telenor is the esim card so i need to install Telenor esim on my phone end then connect it to the watch?
No, you would install Telenor on the watch since it's the esim. To be clear, the esim line needs to be set as a mobile internet watch line for this to work. If it's a regular voice line, this most likely won't work. Ideal world: The Telenor line is a Standalone Mobile Internet watch line that connects to the IMEI on your watch with your carrier. Then you set that watch up on your phone following my video as a guide. Hopefully that answered your question, feel free to respond here and I'll answer as soon as I can!
I have an Apple Watch 8 and it’s from Verizon. I’m trying to gift it to my gf but she has T-Mobile. Can she pair her iPhone to my watch if I remove the activation lock and remove cellular plans ? Or while I get the same issue you’re having?
You’re welcome! Glad it worked out. As far as apps, you won’t have the same apps as your phone. It’s like starting a new device you have to download the compatible from the App Store as usual if they don’t come over after you do this: With that new Apple ID you made for your watch, you have to family share with your phones Apple ID. You can then give permissions to your watch account to bring things over.
If my granddaughter has her own IPhone on Verizon and I have TMobil can I put a watch on my TMobil account with data for her will it work through her phone?
Short answer is no. But you’d be able to use the watch via Bluetooth when the watch near the phone. If you wanted data to work on T-Mobile the watch would need to have a different number from the Verizon one (T-Mobile Standalone line) since the main phone number is on Verizon that number can’t pair with the T-Mobile data line to use the same number. Let me know if that made sense.
I tried this as I don't use an iPhone as my main phone but wanted the Apple watch Ultra. It does work, but you are severely limited in functionality. Medications, respiratory rate, irregular heart rhythm notifications, ECG, AFib History, Cycle Tracking, Sleep, Wrist Temperature, Blood Oxygen, Walking Steadiness, Audiobooks, Remote, News, and Shortcuts don't work in this standalone mode. Deal breaker for me.
Hi.. in my country no carrier supports my my Watch model A2477 as its a US variant. But carriers support e sim for watches made other regions. Is there anyway i can add a cellular plan to my watch 😢. ??? Pls help me🙏🙏🙏
I’m sorry I’m not sure you can on that watch. It seems like a unique situation you would most likely have to contact a carrier outside of your country and do it all over the phone. Otherwise you can get a watch that’s compatible directly with the carriers in your region. Both of these options are somewhat long shots though so keep level expectations. Sorry for the issues you’re having!
I hope I can help! Couple questions first. Does boost offer cellular plans for watches? Also will it be paired to your number or have a number of its own?
If they’re separate numbers you’ll only get notifications from one or the other. If the watch is paired via Bluetooth to your phone you could potentially get notifications from your phone and your standalone watch number. Did that answer your question?
Yes, you can receive phone iPhone (diff cell #) and get its own standalone number as another phone. Just make sure you your phone is connected to the iPhone one for notifications / app tracking. And when you need to check your other line (I used it for different online accounts that require a cell number and not a VOIP line). Switch over to check messages.
I have spectrum as my provider cell phone. I paired my son’s Apple Watch. How can I pair his watch as standalone. I have another cell # that I can used. But when I paired with my iPhone I couldn’t call him? Thank you
I finally got it to work, I had to do a network reset on my phone 😩, however I should’ve done it the opposite way that I did it. I should’ve added m my actual account as the “added family account to the account I created for the apple watch, so I could have my main account on the watch. Currently I have all of the useless account info connected to watch.
I’m not sure it would’ve allowed you to do that if you were attempting to use your main account as the only account on the watch. So don’t get too upset over that. You can family share from your main account and should be able to use some things from that one
What if you just turn off cellular data or take out the Sim of the Verizon phone and then set it up? Must the iPhone have a cellular plan in order to use it with a watch that has a standalone plan?
I tried that and it still attempted to use Verizon. It detects the last sim on the phone. If you pay for a watch standalone plan you don’t need a phone cellular plan, but, if you use a standalone plan you’ll need to make a separate Apple ID for the watch apart from the phone’s Apple ID that you use to set up the watch. Did that answer your question? Hopefully I didn’t confuse you haha
@@OptionsFinestNot confusing at all 👍🏼 …and you are right. I went through the process last night and had to do exactly this. Now researching what features I’m missing by setting it up as a family member watch. Thanks man.

@@OptionsFinesti tried your method since I have AT&T on my iPhone and I am the organizer/admin of our Family Sharing, and I’m setting up a Apple Watch SE with a Tmobile standalone plan for my son. The watch has its own apple ID separate from the one I’m using on my iPhone. And everytime I go to setup cellular, it still opens up the AT&T portal instead of Tmobile. I’ve been to the Tmobile store and Apple store and they don’t seem to know what to do.
I just got the ultra2 from Verizon with a standalone watch line different number but my IPhone is through spectrum am i gonna have to run gps or is the Verizon watch have its own phone serivce
Yes, your Verizon watch has it's own service if you got your Ultra 2 with a standalone line. Think of the Ultra 2 as a second phone. It has it's own number to allow you to take calls, texts, and use any apps that require data to operate. Let me know how you like the Ultra! I've had the watch for a while now - no complaints.
Awesome the Verizon sales person was trying to tell me I needed to get a Verizon phone an plan as well witch wouldn’t make since if the watch has its own number anyways
Are there prepaid options? If there are, I’d assume it would be a big headache if it doesn’t automatically turn back on when you pay for the service again. Worth a shot but part of me thinks it would require you to do the setup process that I mention in this video all over again
