I was literally just doing some calculations of Ukraine population and military age men. Minus the annexed regions, minus the recorded outgoing/ingoing border crossings, minus the disabled, minus women, children old men, minus the ones that fled the draft, minus an unknown amount that have gone to Hungary, Belarus and Russia, minus the 1 million that have already been mobilised for some kind of military capacity.... Ukraine could have at most 4 million military age males left and logic dictates that most of the ones less are unwilling, or they would have already volunteered.
There is also a study by Austria that says Ukraine already, currently will never recover demographically from this conflict.

I think both will be forced to mobilize and it won't be just them after that. This conflict has a ripple effect on the rest of the world, and it's not going to be good news if the best we have is hard hitting media coverage from Europe, while getting excuses from their leaders, and Americans arguing over Taylor Swift, instead of stepping up and doing what they've done in the past, and we all know they can do again.

No it's not. Russia relies on Western tech, obviously. The West invented all technology, owns the IP to it all... Russia can only copy what it can and import what it can't- which is still around 50% of the components it uses.
There are aren't any microchip fabs - Russia just cannot do it. China can do some (setup by the West, of course) but not all, especially in nm RF, optics and sub 10 um microchips

One example is an F22 used Pentium 90 which is like 250 NM and larger. To a newer chip of 90nm.

Only two years into the war and Ukraine has shortages of frontline combat troops. You can't force a people to fight if they are not motivated to sacrifice. This is a huge country of 44 million they can easily create many battalions of light infantry and shock the russians with large wave attacks. If you fight on Russian terms and wait for a whole bunch of highly complex and expensive equipment trying to build a highly mechanized army to try to match that of Russia's then you will lose. Amount of equipment that you will never get in any case.

Except it can't because when you break down the demographics and numbers Ukraine has about 4-5 million military age males left, at MOST.
Ukraine is about 35 million subtracting the areas that were annexed and Crimea. The recorded border crossings are at least -10 million. There's millions of unrecorded emigration to Hungary, Belarus and Russia. 3 million disabled Ukrainians who can't fight, 650,000 men who fled drafting, the age demographic of fighting males is about 16% of the end number, - 1 million who were already mobilised.
It's about 4-5 million military age and those who remain are unwilling to fight, if they were they would have volunteered. This is exactly why Ukraine is currently having recruiting issues.

Losses on both sides are (easily) sustainable if there is popular backing - and for Ukraine the war is existential whereas for Russia its a war of choice which can be stopped at any point. It is likely that Russian support will vanish first.
From a equipment viewpoint: Russia started the war after an extensive period (a decade) of heavy investments to upgrade its military capabilities - and they attacked a country with a tiny military which had seen small investment and very limited equipment.
From that starting point Russia went into a "war economy" quickly after the start of war, strongly ramping production - this was not replicated in Ukraine or its allies. Ukraine has now started investigating heavily in military production and its allies are inching in the right direction. In other words, the advantage Russia has in equipment at this point is as large as it will ever get - from here on it will diminish, though the rate is yet to be seen.

Indeed, western economy will obviously have a much longer breath, even if it takes longer to "boot up". And in addition to industrial capacity, it should be noted that we've seen Russia pull more and more old Soviet stuff out of some depot. Those depots will be empty at some point. That the Kremlin resolves to buying North Korean munitions is already a sign.

The initial incursion by Russia was never expected to turn into a full frontal assault. If you look at force deployments, you will see they expected to be welcomed. Those were young conscripts in those first vehicles that got annihilated. It was more of the same they expected when they went in during 2014.
If in 2014 they had gone to Kiev, it would have caused a global panic... hence why it wasn't done.

Russia is increasing the number of its army at a steady pace - 40 to 50k a month. Instead of mobilization recruiting people unwilling to fight they imposed a special tax on Gazprom. They use the money to pay volunteers who sign contracts with the army. They pay about equivalent 3 000 dollars a month or in case of death, the widow is to receive circa 200 000 dollars.
For Russians, especially from remote East regions, it is a strong incentive. They have so many volunteers that they put harsher health requirements for new soldiers.
Time is also favourable for Russians. They have enough time and resources to train and equip new troops very well. Russia's army is getting stronger and stronger.
On the other side, the situation in Ukraine is steadily deteriorating. The West seems to have had enough of sending money and weapons to Ukraine.
Now Ukraine seems to be doomed but if the USA decides to intervene directly it can change the situation.
However, the outcome may be still unfavourable for the West. It may prolong the conflict but Russia will win anyway.
When someone wants to try and predict what will happen in the future should take into account not only what has happened by now on the frontline but also what is happening far away from it.

Very one sided story. Ukraine has been in war with their own citizens in Eastern part more than a decade. Being most corrupted country in Europe, some people just had enough and asked Putin help for their struggle against robbers and criminals. Taking Kiev was fiasco for Putin, but people in Lugansk, Donetks, Zapazorje took their arms and welcomed Russian army to help them after they had struggled themselves to fight since 2014. And Russian parliament agreed with those people decisions to be Russian citizens and their homeland to be part of Russia. And then West woke, that maybe after their fiasco's in Middle East and Afganistan, maybe we could make a quick political victory? Seems, that this has not happened, so the only outcome is to respect local people will and draw new border! Otherwise, we will have next decades of instability, corruptions, etc in the world! And of course, the result is a collapse of European Union.
