My favorite part is how they clearly understand the connection that air has to earth, and fire to water. It’s best seen in the intro. Korra bends water, then she bends the opposite, fire. Aang bends air, and then the opposite of air, solid Earth.
Well, Aang had a very steep learning curve to gain a grasp on three elements. He was also a gifted bending student, getting his tatoos at only 12 years old, the youngest until his granddaughter Jinora got hers at 11. As a result, Aang using Toph's techniques is evidence of his wisdom; he learned earthbending from one of the greatest earthbenders ever.
The animator perfectly captured their personalities. Korra being rash and headstrong, but more-so, Aang being defensive/evasiveo and only attacking when necessary right up until he was force into the avatar state. even when korra went all avatar state, he refused to, which is something that Aang would have definitely done.
I want to point out that Korra learns best through kinetic methods of teaching which, in the world of avatar, usually means fighting. Even when she was at her true lowest point and the final confrontation, she still chose and preferred combat. Also, it would be more reasonable if the met some time before the Vaatu and Unalalock debacle, as the could never meet after.
The writing was spot on for the characters: Korra letting that undercurrent of anger grow and turn into a sweeping wave, Aang seeming to honestly take the fight as a chance to teach its just so spot on.
2:07 this moment here where the rock armor is blown off and he just kind of awkwardly gives her that goofy "oh crap" grin when it's all removed is absolutely on point for character accuracy
i love those expressions Aang does, im actually watching avatar the last airbender (3rd season first chapters) and those ggofy moments are SO... Aang. XD
Especially how right after the explosion he tried helping her instead of letting her fall to her death, and then when he was relieved and didn't realize she was still falling it was so on point for him. He was like "Ah, at least your- wait where are you??"
The fact that they really give off the actual characters’ vibe and presence is amazing Like how aang smiled in that scene in the beginning of the video after korra air bended the rocks off of him How korra continuously chose to fire bend more than any other bending (the least was air bending which she found to be the hardest in the actual show) + aang the opposite he fire bended the least How while they were falling aang had that look on his face while looking at korra The fact aang tried to dodge and defend himself and only used attacking to get korra to stop Also how he got into the avatar state ONLY after he was drowning basically he wouldve had the choice to get into the avatar state, but he chose not to and only got into it bc he was in danger
Ok there are some things wrong with this. Korra actually doesn't favour any element aside from the start of the show. Also in season 2 due to the necessity of waterbending this doesn't apply. Korra actually used air a lot. If you pay attention she started to use it really often. I think I saw somewhere (I don't remember where, it happened a long time ago) that she actually uses fire more than the other elements in the start of the show and she ends up using them almost equally at season 4. (Also I know it's books but I think everyone understands what I'm saying). Also Korra's personal growth showed us that she won't kill and that she would do the same for Aang when they were falling. Other than that everything you said is true. Aang was really accurate
OK, there is actually an error in aang's part, which is 'bout his avatar state, you see, the show of his own shows clearly that he actually can't _properly_ choose when to get *in* or *out* the avatar state due to the fact that he refused to let go of katara (his mundaine anchor), yet his mind comes back to the actual aang, and not the avatar, because he learned, by life and his teachers monkes, that fighting is only a worth option when it is to stop a fight that has been already started, and not to hurt other people. The reason why he came into his avatar state when was about to drown was because he so _needed_ to *survive* , which is the original purpose of the avatar state. (that is something i got to know by watching the show by myself, if the information here is wrong i do sincerely apologize.)
@@camillyvitoria3646 but in the last episode he can control it as he gets out of it before taking Ozai's bending and afterwards he goes in and out to waterbend
@@obsessedwithrandomstuffiwatch As i said before, aang gets to learn how to get to stop *himsself* to kill someone due to his strong belief, from his monk life style, that killing is never the answer to end a fight, instead he prefers to *_forgive_* the person, a lesson he tried to teach katara when she went to try to kill her mother's killer on full rage. Also, I didn't say he couldn't get to manage it at all, i said he couldn't do that *_properly_* , since there are some sort of exceptions.
@@obsessedwithrandomstuffiwatch Basically, he gets to be more controled on his avatar state because he has already a strong mind to get to control himself, something simillar to what Tenzin did at the fog of lost souls (idk if the name is correct since i'm not american and didn't watch the show in english-), aang's avatar state behaviour is based on his emotional and mental state, as it comes more clear to see as the show goes by.
Wow...the way you effectively colored their personalities was incredible! Little moments like: -Korra rushing to fight when Aang never answered -Aang stopping to save her only to goof it up -The way their generations utilized earthbending/metalbending So many little nuances you paid such careful attention to. I had to watch it twice!
@@Charlie-hv3dh Look at Aang's earth-armor, a signature move he learned from Toph. Also the Seismic Sense. While Aang can't metalbend, Korra does. The moves Aang did in this video when he entered the Avatar State are the same as it shown on the TV Show. Especially in 3:30 It's masterpiece.

I liked the fire breathing at the end. Was a serious rehash of Aang's battle with Ozai. His expression told of a deeper pain than just Korra being stubborn.
I saw it now after my hundred'th watch. It's exactly what makes aang understand that Korra is fighting only for fight. That growl of fire, which symbolizes Ozai.

Love how they incorporated the canon storyline like Korra going into Avatar state while she’s midair (like with Zaheer) while Aang does so in water. Plus her fire breathing. ❤
"Because you didnt" The cat thing was throwing me off at first. But that line, the delivery, i heard their voices. I felt korras realization. Fucking goosebumps. Great animation aswell, really really great.
I don’t know how something can be so cool, cute, and amazing all at the same time. Their cat designs bring the cute The fight scenes bring the cool But your film-crafting is what brings the amazing! No matter the tools one has at their disposal, it is the one who wields the tools that determines the quality of the thing forged. The ending, the story, is what makes it all worthwhile. A good lesson, just like the show itself. I couldn’t be more happy! This decade needs more meaningful animations. Animations like yours.
I don’t think that’s the case, I think it’s just that the match was going a bit too far when it was meant to be a lesson, not a battle to the death. One of Korra’s main things was her fire breath when she got real intense, not really related to Ozai.
Aang also depicted a violent fire breathing technique when he tapped into the Avatar State whilst fighting Ozai. I don't think that's the reason he stopped.
This is probably the most accurate depiction of a fight between them. Aang using things that korra never learned and korra using things aang never learned. But in the end, both stopping for a draw. Also loved how it really showed aangs passive bending with korras offensive style. 10/10
This comment alone incapsulates everything about this animation. An shows how no one side could just win due to both Aangs and Koreas strengths and weaknesses.
I mean if you really look at both of them korra would probably win Aang is better at airbending and being able to dodge but he can't take a lot of hits he's been knocked out by one or two hits many times but korra is not as good at dodging but she can take a lot of hits and she is better with every other element and since she's the newest Avatar she get strength from the past avatars which includes Aang so if it comes down to it She would win more often but people like Aang better so if anyone talks about who would win in a fight they would say it's a tie or Aang wins
This. This right here, it's perfect. It shows their characters so well, their fighting styles, their personality, etc.. Not to mention the animation looks so good. AND THEY'RE KITTENS!!
When she asked why you stopped, and he answered because you didn’t. It was a good life lesson. There are times when you have to stop and think. Also there are times you have to keep going because there’s no choice. It’s truly a good life lesson, and well worth learning.

It just adds a level of cuteness to it, but the action is so raw and the fight is so balanced and even. The ending too... whoever made this, give them an Oscar or some type of award lol
That was so well done and I love how Aang ultimately gave up at the end because he's not the type of guy who wants to continue a fight or kill, compared to Korra who has to learn when to stop. This was so brilliantly done and animation was just *chef's kiss*.
True but I also feel its because how Korra was using the elements unlike aang who uses the elements in balance while korra bent it to her will. Showing aang how dangerous a avatar without restraint is.
@@ashvinvaidyanathan7239 she did, just not a beggining. Korra changes and grows probably more than any of all characters in both shows with Zuko for a contestant

dude I fucking love it. This animation is top quality and actually shows off the characters very well. They also show their respective strengths and weaknesses. Aang using seismic sense and Korra metal bending.
Can we appricate how when Aang thought Kora was hurt while falling he went to help her despite being in the middle of a fight? How sweet that is, how I wish we could see this mentorship between master and pupil play out.
I like this because whoever made it clearly did their research. this is honestly how I would think a battle between them would go. They move exactly how they move. also how neither of them gets the upper hand in the fight which is something most wouldn't hold back from doing
I really respect the fact they kept the characters' personalities in tact, with Aang largely fighting on the defensive side and Korra being absolutely ruthless. Also loving the nods to each character's personal fighting styles and things they've picked up, like either one's way of armouring up, Aang using the seismic sense and his way of manifesting the avatar state, etc. Mad props
I kinda have a problem with that =/ True, Aang's fighting style was majorly defense, but as soon as he went into the Avatar state (any episode of the series), he'd immediately switch to offense, so I feel like Korra wouldn't be able to get close enough or at least she wouldn't be able to be present in his bending sphere...
@@emiliorodriguez8104 I agree it was the case in the beginning. Nevertheless, even once he mastered the AS, Aang's fighting style was much more of an offense rather than defense (e.g. final Agni kai with Ozai).

I like how their fighting style differs, there are more obvious things about how Korra rushes straight ahead, while Aang avoids a straight on fight. But there are also subtler differences. Aang, being used to fighting in more rural environments without having to keep his bending tight to reduce collateral damage, is more adept at using the environment to his advantage. He will destroy fixtures in the temple, and even the floor itself to defend himself, even throwing Korra through walls. Korra has always had to fight with the surrounding people and property in mind. So she does more straight punches and kicks; things that are less likely to endanger anyone who may happen to be around. Love the attention to detail!
@@matte9076 I mean he wouldn't try to or want to but if he had to he would. He didn't really have to deal with the consequences of destroying property since everyone was just so thankful of him.
As well as this, aang completely avoids the use of water, which is definitely something he would do. Korra uses the water avlible in the temple while aang uses other elements to block this. Korra uses water- it’s her native element- way more than aang does in both shows.
I mean aang is a monk so he’s been built with self control while korra was seen as a prodigy from the start and had little restraint growing up so yeah I think if there was any lesson aang would teach it would be that korra needs to understand the importance of holding back
@@fossilartstudios5878 Not only that, but for any Aang vs Korra argument, It snips in the bud the whole who would be stronger than who in a fight. "Why did you stop?" "Because you didn't." Holy crap, what a way to summarize both of the core conflicts of these characters in their series. Aang and his struggle with his destiny to face the Fire Lord, Kora and her desire to just rush in and fix everything herself even when that won't work.

But aang couldnt do it because he always loved katara. While korra is in more sense for who she is, yes i even love lok but ik the shortcomings, her hot headed self, her rushing to much and her thinking everything she has to do is outright right
One thing I know about Aang, he never goes all out in a battle and never tires to attack first, and always trying to make sure his opponent is never badly wondered in a battle, and the animator captured all that ... this cool 😎
His fighting style doesn't have finishing moves. Instead it's used to incapacitate the opponent with minimal damage. The biggest part of the ending of TLAB was his unwillingness to kill his opponent. While everyone said it was the only way he figured out another way. That was powerful.
@@deviousj5868 Yeah he actually attained more power through restraint. That's a powerful lesson and just one more reason everyone loves Aang. He's not purrfect 😸 but his character is of a higher quality than Korra who is more selfish and independent (to a fault).
@@justaregularguy115 Based on the lore, Korra is far more powerful than Aang due to the fact that she got the powers of all the past Avatars before her, her being a prodigy and being able to master 3 elements at such a young age and being able to use more than 4 elements easily makes her a terrifying enemy...But yeah she needed lesson in restraint. Something we didn't get since the writers didn't include Aang into the story, would've really been better if Aang became her teacher in the Spirit realm instead of freakin Rokku. Also can Korra really not use any bending inside the Spirit Realm? What about her Spirit bending? She learned that special bending during the Spirit arc.
Aang wouldn't care about that. He cares more about if he would harm the people or creatures he love. Self control defines a person and personality like iroh and ozai. Both brothers but one with self control and one who tries to control others. The lesson here is how far are you willing to go before you notice what was done.
It's much better than Netflix's Avatar. I want five seasons and three full-length films with this design. I want a computer game and stickers in this design. This is amazing !!!
Most realistic depiction and ending of the fight ever. Aang would never go so far to the point of harming his friends to such a degree. He’d almost always stop fighting or end it in a draw
Korra has often had to fight people to a standstill to earn peace, it's unsurprising that she'd assume even in training she needed to keep pushing herself. It would be such a relief to finally have a teacher who doesn't want to her to push her limits, but rather to choose her own.
That's a lesson I learned from one sparring match when I was in a college martial arts club, though I knew it before as well. I just regret that I didn't stop the match myself. In my defense, I was a green belt sparring against a 2nd degree black belt. Wasn't used to contact to the head, and I was blacking out when she'd punch me in the face towards the end. She did end it by popping me in the nose and saying that's how hard I was hitting her, which didn't phase me since it felt no different from any of her other hits. It wasn't until months later when we were helping with a self-defense seminar that she took the moment to give her personal story of why she started martial arts. Turned out she'd been abused by a boyfriend. And then that sparring session made sense to all of us. She was upset that I was keeping up with her and not going down. Probably not on a conscious level.
OH. MY. GOD. Amazing. Nothing more to say, you captured their strenghts and spirits perfectly well and they look adorable like this. LOts of love to you
Definitely fits the bill here, Aang stopping because Korra didn't. I find this to be the most true to their character. Korra would definitely turn up and Aang would realize this and cool things off.

I think this is absolutely stunning. It really shows the contrast between korra and aang. They’re both equally as powerful but korra is so much more impulsive while aang knows his limits and has deep compassion for others (he tried to save her when she was falling). Plus it shows their difference in technique as for how she is more offensive with just kicks and punches while aang is more agile and utilizing more different techniques. I love this!!
I disagree with Korra being impulsive, maybe on the first 2 seasons, but by season 3, and even more on her finale she was empathic, kind and tempered. She even refused to fight Kuvira after defeating her and saved her from death
@@MarioChaparroLampard Impulsive: doing things or tending to do things suddenly and without careful thought. I never said she wasn’t kind.

Such a great fighting sequence. Well done
Nice sentiment, but unless you're the author you wouldn't know this
I don’t think that’s the case, I think it’s just that the match was going a bit too far when it was meant to be a lesson, not a battle to the death. One of Korra’s main things was her fire breath when she got real intense, not really related to Ozai.
I also felt the same way, she looked as destructive and mad a the fire lord, she's pure anger

I like how Korra isn't the most comfortable flying with airbending so she uses little fire jets to help stay afloat in the air ;D
Ikr. It's also a common tactic Korra uses. She can be seen fire jetpacking in the show.
She can’t fly ,Zaheer is the only person from both series who can FLY
@@chrisxwavy they meant little tornadoes but around ur body not flying
Ironman 😂😂😂
@@pizzatime2584 either way airbender can’t fly with the tornadoes because there was only 2 people who used flight and it requires skill.
Everything about this is perfect. Their body language, facial expressions, fight choreography, music, setting. This is just incredible

The script is 10/10, the animation, the edit, everything.
Thanks for sharing :)
I love the attention to detail like Aangs scar from Azula and the fact that you see his goofy 12 year old self in some bits
2:39 for anyone looking for it.
And how Korra is on the offensive and Aang is mostly on the defensive! Characterization is AMAZING
He taught her self control, one of the most important skills to master in the show
lol i think alot of her problems grew because she was always conflict seeking
Agreed
Aang is a wise master
yo right tgo
Ye but she was still a brat
Aang and Korra: *fight*
Avatar Kiyoshi: ....I’m so proud....
Nice
It is Kyoshi, not Kiyoshi.

@Bruktawit Tewodros Wtf you don’t now Harry Potter?
Also kyoshi (when aang taught korra self control) : that lil monk i swear to fcking VAATU !!!
No his horse stance needs more work.
OH. MY. GOD.
Oh wow, When Aang prevented her "fall damage" and the moment Aang stopped when he saw so much chaos really portrayed him perfectly.
Man, I'm really impressed! Your work has improved so much over the years!
As a big Avatar fan, I'm so stunned how good you visualized the fight scenes. It could actually be an official Avatar short!
Thanks for making my morning. This was unexpecting!
hello verified person
Now that's the type of Avatar fighting power that I like to see. It was beautifully done and animated. hope to see more videos like these. And besides that the cat look is very nice you guys got talent.

@@MarioChaparroLampard
Impulsive: doing things or tending to do things suddenly and without careful thought.
I never said she wasn’t kind. I was referring to her way of fighting and how she acts sometimes- she just goes with her gut or makes decisions quickly without thinking it through. Someone that purely just chucks elements at someone you can say reacts on impulse.
It’s not that deep
@@MarioChaparroLampard Even if we were looking at it that way, this is clearly season 2 Korra by the hair and having the Avatar State.
I wouldn’t say equally powered. Aang seems to be the far better bender.
@@munkee_man korra had avatar state in season 3 and 4 as well, and had long hair on 3
If this was made shot for shot, by the animators of the show, this would be so majestic!
"I had to BEND some rules..." I see what you did there.
Ah yes, the lost bending art. Continuity-bending.
At the end when I read "Why did you stop?" "Because you didn't" I heard it in Aang's voice and Korra's voice. Because it is so likely that they would say that!!! I absolutely loved the animation. It was amazing to watch as an Avatar fan, because it was soooo good. Way better than the live action! Good Job!
"Why did you stop?"

*!my. emotions!*
I cant believe you captured aang's personality this good. His expressions during the fight were great😂
Holy damn, that ending! The way Aang's face goes from determination to sadness, the whole final dialogue, it's an absolute masterpiece. It's a perfect depiction of Aang's and Korra's personality. Honestly, this is the third time i watch it and it gives me feelings every time. For god's sake, i almost cried this time! The world doesn't deserve an animator like you
We definitely do. It’s people like him that keep hope alive that one day will get something more out of the Avatar Series. Keep do ya thing bro.
I tried closing my eyes and imagining them as their human selves, but whether they're human or cats, this animation is GODLY!!
Agreed
Oh no now I just can't imagine them as humanssss
Indeed
The details with Aang's character here really go to show, he is infinitely kind.
The combat choreography in this video was outstanding. The background music perfectly complemented the action sequences.
When he said "Meow"
I felt that 😔

I connected more with the "mew"
@@cenplays a bit controversial 😕
@@bored5781 I'm not saying "meow" isn't deep, but think of the context of "mew" it is truly profound.

I disagree with your statement. Meow is better than Mew!
*Fite me!*
Aang: “Violence isn’t the answer.”
Korra: “Violence is the Question, and the answer is Y-“
Aang: “No.”
Korra: “But-“
Aang: “No!”
Korra: “You don’t get to tell me “No”! *I’m* the Avatar now, and *I* say what goes!”
Aang: “…If that’s what you truly believe, your successor will spend the rest of their lifetimes making right what you’ve said and done.”
This gave me chills, I can see the scene and hear this dialogue as if it was canon. Love this
Makes you wonder if Korra is actually a firebender. She sounds very hotheaded.
