i have been playing the sims since 2017 and this is my first challenge ever 😭😭😭 wish me luck

I started planning my first legacy when I saw the stream. I just started because I couldn't wait to do it but I've been working on building all the homes for the past few months. I'm super excited as most of my gameplay is based around families

Yep am so excited since the infants are coming! Am gonna try this challenge right away but am gonna make the generation longer and the life is shorter 😈
An easier way to get the 64x64 lot is to just:
1. Move into an empty lot
2. Use your phone to move household
3. Choose the new lot
4. Choose to move in+demolish all
5. Congrats you now have a massive lot with less hassle than the manage world's version

can't you just use the freerealestate cheat? Wouldn't it make it easier and faster?

an added challenge i gave my founder was that (if you have the uni pack) she couldnt get a job until she had graduated university. so for 3 weeks in game she had to scavenge for things and breed frogs just to get a little box house she could live in until she got her diploma and a very high paying job. it pays off in the end!

The main rule I break is that I move the family every generation or so. I tend to play one save file and there are so many amazing worlds and lots I can’t limit myself to one. I also like to build so once the family has money I build a new house or do a major overhaul every generation. 🎉
it’s so unfortunate that moving resets your generation streak. I’m doing a generational challenge that has goals for 50 gens and I doubt I’ll even get that far, but if I DID play my founder’s bloodline through 100 generations, I’d feel like I’d deserve to get the legendary legacy achievement. but you can only get it if you don’t move out of the lot your founder started on. I’m sorry but who is wanting to play for 100 generations on the same lot lol, wish they had a way of continuing to track the streak even if your sims move
Usually I just choose an aspiration based solely on the bonus trait and then I change the aspiration once out of cas because the trait doesnt go away.
I honestly just play a non-challenge legacy. Mostly start with a married pair, or couple, or single sim. Just idylic living not tied to any rules

Hi! I hope you, Pinstar and the the boys are doing well! I'm 5 generations into a Sims 4 Legacy right now, but I'm not playing by super strict rules. Honestly, just getting that far is an accomplishment for me since my Sims 2 Legacies always blew up around Generation 3. 😅

I'm with you, I tend to not do strict rules and just try to play out a story of some sort instead.
5:24 You can also just press the button right above it to just move the sims out and put them in the new lot. It's a lot easier and faster if you already have the lot ready.
Adding succession laws to the family description - GENIUS!
I actually like the aspiration that comes with the Star Wars pack because it gives the Prepared Voyager trait that replenishes needs a bit when travelling between any lots. That gives a huge leg up in any challenge where you don't have any way to fill your basic needs early on.

If you go to the icon next to the first sim when you select a house you can also write the sectionsion laws there as well

I always like to use the lot by the lounge in brindleton bay on the bottom left because you kinda have a good, large space that isn’t too big, and you kinda aren’t locked into a certain build style when trying to build a house, because that might annoy people if their house is different form the rest of the neighborhood (me) so I think that is a great spot to build in.😊
I tried a legacy challenge once but got bored with the restriction that I must stay on the same lot for 10 generations. I just like moving my sims too much.

Love the Legacy Challenge! Have been playing them since Pinstar initiated it for the Sims 2. Love the beginning of the challenge so much that I have yet to actually complete one, lol. Have created an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of all points that I print and highlight as I go. Just started another new one.😂

Im not a fan of the $1800 limit combined with the completely barren lot. It doesnt make much sense to me and feels more like a rags to riches-legacy than a true to life family-legacy. It makes sense, if youre moving into a starter home, to have such limited funds, but having your founder essentially be homeless, or "camping" on their newly acquired land just doesnt _quite_ feel like an accurate narrative.
I like the idea; for the founder to move into a small starter house on a smaller lot, begin skill-building, make friends in the neighborhood, find a job, start dating until they find the right Sim, and shortly after they get married (once theyve had a week or two to build a bit of income), thats when theyll purchase a new (large size) lot, and start building a small family home, which will grow in size over the years as the family gets bigger and new generations become the matriarchs/patriarchs of the family.
I like the story element of it that the founding couple are building their new lives together, it kinda fits with the idea of building a family legacy that you would only start building that legacy when you start building the family, so while the original Sim is still single, I see that as a kind of story-prep.
I like the idea mentioned by another commenter, that they put their starter Sim through University first (if you have that pack), because it provides another path of opportunity regarding who your Sim meets & befriends, who they become, and who they ultimately marry.
I agree the rags-to-riches vibe I don't think suits the challenge! I like your idea of just starting in a basic home and going from there!
I'm going to start my first legacy play through when the new life and death expansion comes out at the end of this month!

Thank you! I don't think I'll be doing a lot of Let's Play style series due to lack of time and things going on IRL that are out of my control, but I definitely want to post the occasional video. Most likely more guides like this, or reviews/reactions/list style videos that I can post once in a while.

Potion Permit is fun, but a bit too grindy imo. There gets to a point where every day is more or less the same because you either don't have enough materials or money to get to the next area.
For my legacy aspirations I dont fuss too much over it as i switch them around throughout the game to earn more satisfaction points. Itll be a hot second before i have a kid so theres other things i can work on
I've played Pinstar's Legacy for TS4 twice. So fun! Thank you for the tutorial. Does this mean you and will updating the treat randomizer? I (and surely many other simmers) would really love an update to your wonderful trait randomizer!

When you start a legacy challenge,can you use a house of the library for your sim?Is that allowed???
Yes you can!
I did something like this, but made the dad immortal because I got super attached to him lol
I cheat and use tons of mods because I do it for storytelling:)
I recommend giving them the “successful lineage” trait too

I have a question if anyone can help me out, Ive never played the sims ever even though ive been wanting to play for a while, so im thinking about fixing up my old laptop so i can download it and play. Ive watched lots of sims 4 legacy challenges and I really want to try it out, but do you need to download any certain packs to be able to do the legacy challenge? Or can you just do it without any extra packs? If you do need to download any packs, can you recommend the ones i should download or that would make my gameplay more interesting or fun. Thank you 💘
You don't need to download any packs. You can do the challenge with just the base game if you want to! If you really want to get some packs then Seasons and Parenthood would be the two I'd recommend the most as they add a lot to the challenge.

Is there rules for someone who kinda wants to do one but doesn't build? I often just use gallery houses
You totally don't have to build your own house. You can use gallery houses if you want to!
One time I just did a story mode sim and then it turned into a save then it turned into a 2rd gen then a 3rd then a 4th then a 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th and I'm on the 12th gen rn😅😂
Another thing you could’ve done is guarding the cheap werewolf bed and the werewolf push so they can actually have children and you can get the cheapest fridge cheapest toilet and shower and then you’ll be able to afford that woo hoo push and still have 305 simoleons left even with the easel

I'm pretty sure you can't do a roof house in the Sims 2, but it's been a while since I've played it so I'm not positive.

Hi, I have 2 questions: Can I pick any lot traits/challenges or would that be considered cheating? Also, am I able to pick any occult sim? I am new at playing Sims; how do I get the Legacy Challenge,, please? is this a kit? please, somebody, help
It's not a kit! Basically you make a new save file and make 1 sim. The way the legacy challenge works is that you have to stay in one lot for 10 generations and you start with either 1800 or 0 simoleons. I recommend picking a location you really like and is fairly big since you'll be there for long!
Can i make my sim a famous person with the road to fame mod or no?
Is there an extreme version? Or rules for sims 3? I'm waiting for the big baby update to really dive into legacy challenges
I plan on making one for the extreme version as well as the Sims 3, I just haven't had a chance to make them yet. Hopefully after the holidays!

It's not a scenario and it's not officially in the game. The Legacy Challenge is a player made challenge that we've been running since Sims 2. You can find all of the rules for it at simslegacychallenge.com/the-sims-4-legacy-challenge-rules/

There’s no in-game setting, it’s just how you decide which sim carries on the legacy.

We usually suggest normal.
I wanted to ask, does the sims system know that you are doing the legacy challenge? Because i made one mistake (i moved my spouse in and he had a bit of money from his old house, it was a while ago now) and i don’t want my legacy challenge to be disqualified lol

Can you play the legacy challenge without packs?
Absolutely! It's completely doable with just the base game.
of course. The legacy challenge for sims 4 was adapted as soon as the base game was released, pretty much.
I think there was a rule that you had to start in winter.

For a challenge. It's right there in the name. 😃 A Legacy isn't everybody's cup of tea, but sometimes gameplay is more fun if you have rules you are trying to stick to.
