Three of my favourite mechanisms mixed with one of my favourite historical themes, plus that design and publishing pedigree..! Your playthrough solidified that this was an instant backing for me. Thanks so much and great video as always from the both of you 😎
Awesome Naveen. At 1:13:00 you busted the game! You just showed the designers that they need numbers higher than 45! Incredible flight! You played this game very intelligently.
Not usually the biggest fan of push your luck, but I like how it’s implemented here. As someone who studied innovation for my PhD, I think they have implemented it brilliantly - innovation is absolutely a process of trial and error and the whole idea of going on a flight because you want to find out what your design problems are so you can resolve them is just brilliant. I think Monique could possibly have got the win if she’d intentionally set out to find her major problems a bit sooner rather than just going for personal records, but it was a really exciting game! Definitely has you on the edge of the seat as the flight decks are being played. Great playthrough!
Theme got me on this one. My family is from NC and we used to visit Kitty Hawk on our trips to the beach at Outer Banks. I love the mechanics too! I think we have to get it. 😅
Just rewatched this great play through! We finally got it off our Shelf of Opportunity and played 4 games back to back! My boys really love how the Flight action is executed. I also really like all the theming with the skill, tech and friend cards teaching us science and history! It’s a great way to also understand iterative designing. ❤ ✈️
Thank you so much for making these playthroughs. These always make it so much easier learning a game and make me decide if I want to buy it or not. Besides that they are so relaxing to watch. You're truly my favorite boardgame relate channel 😇
Ben Rosset is an amazing designer and a really cool person! Met him at a convention where we played a design of his, Brewcrafters. Still one of my favorite games.
I'd already backed the game after watching Rahdo's playthrough, but this was good good to actually properly watch the interaction between players and to see the game through to its conclusion. Great playthrough and just reinforces my decision to back this. I love historical themes and one of my relatively recent KS games to arrive was Tinners Trail and I also backed Through Ice & Snow. This totally ticks all the boxes where the mechanics of the game really complement the theme. Nothing says push your luck more than being one of the first to test the power of flight!
Wow, the theme is awesome and it blends perfectly with the mechanics. One can see from your reactions that you are thrilled to pull every card in fear of hitting that last malfunctioning that would crash your plane! Fantastic review for a great game, thanks! Also, is all this "tapping/untapping" skills a reference to some other game maybe?;)
Oh my! Push your luck deck building? I can't imagine how it works (just started watching :D) but it sounds ingenious and I love games that try to introduce new things XD
Darn it. I was swearing of crowdfunding for the time being, and I wasn't a fan of the designers previous games, but this is so smooth and looks so fun.... arrgh, sorry wallet.
Monique, it was bugging me how you didn’t do the skills in the other order-the skill you always took first has you reshuffle, which is great if you know the top card in your deck is a problem!
I was sent here by the QR code on the box. The first thing they say is they've set it up for two players. Is there a video for more than two players. Most games are quite different at two, and they didn't say that this play would show how to play more than two.
This looks fun, but maybe suffers from the "the rich get richer" problem push your luck games tend to have. Altho having a succesfull flight in itself doesnt seem to do anything unless you have a character like Monique or pull Experience cards. Also, in the final flight of Naveen, was there any reason for him to stop? I guess a succesfull decent scores 3 more than a crash, but on average it might just be better to keep pushing. What happens is you crash before you decent?
It looks like a lot of fun. It’s push your luck first, deck building second to me, accessible and entertaining. I just don’t like the board in its current state. The cards have better artwork than that city in the middle.
Board artwork is still very much in-progress. It's taken a lot of graphic design and layout work to get the UI / gameplay where we want it, so art is now coming together for that. The direction is 1904 Worlds Fair
@@steveschlepphorst I’m on board with the direction it’s going: it looks fun, festive, welcoming. I do think the cards look very nice at this current state. As far as feedbacks go that would matter at this stage, the board was the only thing worth mentioning. The game is promising.

We just got our kickstarter, This is a great game! thank You for the Playthrough!

I'm expecting to have this delivered this week. I can't wait to get it. Nice playthrough. Thanks.

I like how Naveen is usually able to find theme in the mechanics!
Such a great play through, felt every moment as intensely as you both did lol. Amazing work, always happy to watch your videos!

Nice video! This looks like a good game. I like how the theme is incorporated in it, like it makes sense.
Super video! Great job 👏👏
Thank you very much!
I do enjoy a push your luck game, always a bit of fun, including the fails... I just backed the project, thanks to your teach and playthrough.
Nice to see you in glorious 4k :)
There are some really interesting ideas in this game. I think being at a lower price point compared to most KS games will help a lot.
That's true, definitely helps with accessibility. Thanks for watching!

Thank you all this one looks cool
At 22:07 and at 37:22 you removed a friend card for Gustav. The rules say he takes Technology cards over Friend cards.

Looking like that Rockety game from Wallace you guys played a couple of months ago.
Yeah, true! Similar mechanics - deckbuilding, push-your-luck.
This was really helpful. We are backing this one because it reminds us of El Dorado a little bit but with a very cool historical theme. :)
What a neat reference! Reiner Knizia, right? Glad you find the video helpful. Thanks for watching!
@@BeforeYouPlay Thank you!
I asked and it's going to have one of my favorite pilots, Bessie Coleman. :)
I saw you were doing a pIaythrough when I stumbled over the campaign, allways interested in your opinions. So thanks for an informative Video.

There's already several other push your luck deck builders out there, i.e. Mystic Vale.
@@damaddestgamer oh right! I completely forgot about that one.
And living forest too
@@ninjayanyan living forest is a deck building game!? I will definitely check it out! Thx :D
Just started but push your luck deckbuilding reminds me of rocketmen by Martin Wallace!
Yeah, you're absolutely right!
Love the theme and the game play. Wish there was some player interaction though. Would probably be a fun solo play game.
Maybe the experience card need to be redesign a bit : you people keep forgetting the +1, so maybe put a 1 next to or inside the thumb symbol?
Agreed, add the +1 right into the top symbol
I was thinking the same thing.

This looks interesting, but as I don't have anything to do with crowdfunding, I'll just have to hope it makes it to retail next year.

Gustav got "one last flight", so wouldnt he have moved to 24? not that it would have made a difference.
Yes, you're probably right! haha we ignored Gustave's final moments there
LET'S GO NAVEEN!!! 🙌
at the 34min mark, seem better if Monique just spent 2 time instead, after which go to fly or repair.

Where did you get the coins that you used? I know the CE version comes with some but would rather just get generic to use with multiple games.

hi
Does they game come with metal coins 🪙?
The Collector's Edition does.
