  • Another hack of CV1. I couldn't find any videos about it on youtube so I decided to record a full walkthrough (and as usual without losing lives). A short description from romhacking.net:
"Castlevania Retold is--as the name suggest--a retelling of the original NES Castlevania. I wanted to keep the original story intact (Many of the CV games are retellings of the first one, this is no different) but offer new levels and graphics, this is just that. All the levels have the same themes to them they originally had, but with new layouts and enemy placement, I also wanted to keep the classic feel to it, which is why I used mostly graphics from CV2 and 3. There are very few custom graphics in the hack, I'm not good with graphics at all, but I did make a new title screen using the new CV logo (Which Moonchile later enhanced) and enhanced some of the orignal sprits. Any Castlevania fan will probably like this, but until recently I didn't notice it's one downside: It's hard. As I made this hack I pretty much learned how everything in CV's game engine works, the exact timing of enemies and such. So, while I can play through most of it with no problems even my friends who are good at Castlevania die several times on the first level."
I like this hack. Except, maybe, redesign of the first stage all other levels are really nice looking. But a word of caution to those who will try to play it... It is hard as its creator said. And first part of the last stage can sometimes be even cheaper than any of Ninja Gaiden levels.

I wish that someone would make a CV1 hack where the levels are redesigned and retextured with CV3 and CV2 sprites (Like in here) Enemies are from not only different castlevania games but also other Nes games, All the bosses are retextured and different and the music has a mix of CV1, 2 and 3 song choices. Now that would be the best rom hack ever!

Cool hack but I would have liked it more if some of the bosses were changed. Awesome Dracula fight by the way.

Overflow Darkness and Chorus of Mysteries. Both are very good hacks that change more things than just stage layouts.

I don't have time to play this retelling. May I just have the transcript sent?
