    Really easy to work with the Bosch profile. All of my shelves and workpads in the garage are made of scrapped ones from my workplace.

    3 things... 1. Have you thought about a single acrylic panel across the entire back? It would eliminate more places off gased material could escape and simply the build process. 2. Have you made sure to clean all oils off the surface of the tube after touching it? Oil build up can cause uneven heating/cooling of the tube and significantly shorten its life. 3. Are you considering cooling the mirrors? If the unfocused laser produces so much heat, it maybe something worth considering? Maybe heating attached to them?

    Looking forward to seeing this finished and the build guide + BOM and CAD files. I just got my first laser, a K40, and I already know it's not enough for me lol.

      For years I've considered just giving in and getting a K40. But I think I knew that it wouldn't serve my needs.

      @@bytesizedengineering Yeah I sweated it for a long time but it mostly came down to money and space for me. A k40 at least gets me started.

      phillipe romans has a 4 part video on how he made his......one of the best builds i have ever seen on you tube.....part of his design is 3d printed parts files....for free....but i donated to him anyway.....used his belt tensioner files and printed out on my cheap ender 3 printer....works like a champ....guy is smart and solves many problems found in many stock machines people buy online....

      You are absolutely right, I had them in the room with me but they weren't doing any good sitting on the workbench.

      I am 100% loving this build series: But this comment should be pinned as it's not mentioned in the video.
      The intensity of this laser, and weaker lasers can cause immediate vision loss with just momentary exposure if reflected off a surface into the eye.

    I wonder how much torque was on the carts when you moved the rail around by hand at the end. That was quite an angle.

    What are the safety features? What if there is a mechanical disturbance due to an earthquake while operating and one of the mirrors get misaligned and the laser is shot at some other places including the operator??

      There will be panels that enclose the whole frame. Also a lid sensor that prevents the laser from turning on while the lid is open. Also, anyone in the room is required to wear safety glasses rated for this class of laser.

    do you have your design file available yet? i followed further fabs design as well and i like yours way better. im curious you said you built it with nominal sizes and only had to cut once. What sizes did you use? im interested in the dimensions.

    Why are you doing a 3-bounce setup? Couldn't you just put the second 90deg mirror on the Y axis and the bounce/focus assembly on the X axis? It would deliver a lot more power to the cut point (though that doesn't seem to be an issue for a 100w tube).

      You are absolutely right that I'm making one additional bounce compared to traditional setups. I think I addressed this in the first video, but since the laser tube is so long, my options were to have it run parallel to the Y axis and stick out the back of the machine, or have a really long gantry to hold the X axis laser head. I didn't want the laser tube sticking out of the back of the machine (but I could still do this if I wanted) and I didn't want the X axis gantry to span that big of a distance so I opted for one extra bounce. And like you said I'm counting on the fact that this is a 100W laser that the power loss will be negligible.

      @@bytesizedengineering Nope, the power loss across the whole distance and an additional mirror will not be negligable. We have a 100W LaserSaur (48x24" workarea) and the power difference between the shotrest distance and the longest distance is remarkable. If we are at the limit of cutting power at the close corner, then we will not get through the material at the far corner. And thats with 3 mirrors only. Another problem might be, that you shoot from the 3th mirror in direction of the tube. If you don't hit the 4th mirror, you will hit the tube.

    Many Thanks for all of your tips. I've purchased the plans and about 50% finished. Motor axis work well but Cannot get the mechanical limit switches to function. From the plans and video, it looks like they are just plug and play. Is there something that im missing? or do I need to setup in the RD8445. Also for the main power supply: plans show it connect to a 24V power supply, but there is another 24V power supply for the Z axis. Should we split the Main power so it goes to each 24 power supply so the Z axis has power too? plans dont mention it. Since you followed the same build manual...you would know best.. so any help is appreciated. Again thanks again and keep up the great work!

      I'm not sure which plans you bought and are referring to. I haven't released any plans for this. I mentioned that further fabrication has some plans, but I'm not following them. I'm building this as I go. Limit switches need to be setup in the controller. I have a small 24V power supply for the controller and separate large 36V supply for all motors

    Can you cut metal with it or does it need more power than 100w ?

      For cutting metal, you would need to use a water jet, a plasma cutter, or a fiber laser.

      There was a guy selling pre cut steel parts for automotive custom projects. He was utilizing a 4 kilowatt industrial laser system (40 times the power of this laser).
