Johnny Depp can never be given enough credit for the roles he plays. This movie was a prime example of the skill he has in acting. The emotion he can display even without trying is so captivating. We were all born under a lucky star to see him on the big screen.
This is one of the most amazingly wonderful movies ever!!!! Johnny Depp was superb in it, as were Freddie Highmore and Kate Winslet...and this scene gets me every time, and I've watched this movie sooooo many times...and I cry every time at this scene....I really wanted to reach through the screen and hug Peter myself:)
I bawl when Peter asks, "Why did she have to die," because I asked that the day my father died. I'm so thankful to I know he's safe in heaven, my neverland, where he'll never suffer again. Every day I imagine his bright smile and warm arms around me again. Until then daddy I love you with all of my heart, I'll never be sorry for crying for you, you are more than worth it. Have fun, see you later.
I had a wonderful friend die last week I am beyond sad she was 49 and had cancer I have never felt like this well my childhood dog died but this friend is sadder this is so powerful
Taking into account the ending to 'The Champ', i'd say the closing scene in this movie has the most believable portrayal of a child in pain, grieving for a parent. Incredible acting - seeing such sadness in Peter's tear-filled eyes, yet hope thanks to Mr Barrie's beautiful final words.
I love this scene, Freddy and Johnny D were perfect. it is so effecting, You forget how good Deep is at playing straight characters after all those star turns as the almost pantomime Captain Jack This performance and his work in Gilbert Grape were amazing. You can see the sweetness of his soul shining through in both.
I don't know how Johnny Depp got through that last scene without crying his eyes out. I cry every time I watch it. It was one of my dearest Eva's favorite movies too (RIP honey). Freddie and Johnny are both amazing actors.
My wife and I watched this last night. When it was over, I asked her 'Is someone cutting onions?' This really got me. Poor kids. Losing both their dad and mom in such a short period. Although they never mentioned it, I wondered if they had tuberculosis. It seemed too coincidental considering how they died. Regardless, it was heartbreaking. Terrific acting in this.
James reminds me of Jiminy Cricket. The kids calls him Jim. He plays Cricket. He has both a hat and a umbrella with him to that bench and he gives the children and everybody around him advice. Any body else noticed this?
@@Elijah_Wood_Fan Excuse me, but only a person who has absolutely no degree of discernment would equate those two very different roles by Freddie Highmore. They are hardly equivalent. Using your premise for assigning relative merit to the individual performances of any actor, every one of their dramatic roles is the same. That is just an untenable position to take. The plot of "August Rush" is about as formulaic as Hollywood standards go. Think, don't just react emotionally.
I always starts to cry in this ending.... It's so sad, beautiful, and real... It's so fantastic how a movie can touch your heart so much. Johnny's amazing, Freddie's amazing... an amazing film ♥
The most sorrowfully beautiful thing is that this has actually happened in reality. This shows us that all of us have problems, losses and misfortunes. Some of us please our broken hearts with evilness; others with kindness, such as this man, who by living and seeing the pain of this boy along with his brothers, he created neverland and is making us cry to all of us right now. People die, but their creations could be around us forever. With a tear welling up, I thank you, James Matthew Barrie.
Freddie highmore is the best actor ever since he was a little boy he impressed me in charlie and the chocolate factory, he impressed me in finding neverland, he impressed me in the good doctor and i watched him since i was 10 years old
Watched that twice now! Highmore's tears weren't acted, they were real! He was completely into his part! I play theater myself and to cry in front of an audience in a way that it moves them and that it's even credible demands that abilitiy because it's absolutely difficult to do that without feeling ridiculious! That boy deserve's an Oscar for that part more than anyone!
I can't avoid to break down in tears at 1:46 when he asks why she had to die. Breaks my heart just to think of losing my mom someday. Excellent movie! Thanks for sharing!!
This scene just draws me to tears... Cause my grandma passed away when I was 10 years old and I never got the chance to say "I love you Grandma" before she left... Will I see my grandma and love ones again? Oh absolutely! I will see them again 🙂
Amazing scene. When he looks into the camera with those tears in his eyes, I just lose it. Although he is being told to simply believe to see his mom again, yet still I see this "but thats not enough" bit in those fantastic eyes. Loved the film. Brilliant.
I watched this movie last month because David Magee is writing the script for the silver chair and this is one of the films he's worked on. After I finished watching it I thought, " wow, this was awesome, so maybe he might not be so bad after all."
Talk about ripping a persons heart out. Freddie Highmore looks so cute! And the way he asked, "But why did she have to die?" Just wrenching to hear it from a childs mouth:(
Freddie was so emotional in this final scene of Finding Neverland. I loved this movie. Freddie is all grown now and he is currently playing Norman Bates in Bates Motel on A &E, and his acting is as good as when he was this little boy. It is worth tuning in to Bates Motel to see Freddie and Vera Famigia as his mom. Every week the episodes are so good.
I cry EVERYTIME I watch this part....Johnny Depp is an incredible actor, and Freddie Highmore was sooooo perfect for this role, he was sooooo cute and it melts my heart everytime he says "but y did she have to die?" .....I wanted to reach thru the screen and hug him:).... This is a wonderful movie
What I like about this sequence very much is, that Johnny Depp takes a step back and gives the lion share of that sequence to Highmore that he can gleam! A very fine step from an actor like Depp that he gives this little boy here so much room and a phenomenal performance of Highmore!
Best child acting ever.
Oh, my gosh, yes. Tears welling up...
+Max Power Dude that single tear drop how the fuck?
watch bates motel
AMEN to that Max. I agree with you 100%.
Don't forget the Sixth Sense child
Johnny depp and Freddie highmore are the most perfect combination. They were amazing in Charlie and the chocolate factory, wonderful chemistey
Coming from a Scottish person, johnny depps Scottish accent is amazing! - and little Freddie highmore melts my heart everytime!
Lauren McDougall im scottish too and i completely agree
That's nice to hear. I'm sure he worked tirelessly with his dialect coach. Usually Yank actors get crap from native speakers.
@@jordanwaskelis4913 I think RDJ's English accent in Sherlock Holmes is great as well
May I ask u guys? But i m sorry if my question make u mad...
It would be a little bit offensive when we call SCOTTISH people as just BRITISH People?

@@wtvwtv984 do u watch the good doctor with him in it? It's awesome
That kid deserves an Oscar holy shit.
This movie came out in 2004 and the boys name is Freddie Highmore..he was also in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp
Also spiderwick chronicles, which is a film I loved as a kid. He is now the main characters in the TV shows bates motel and the good doctor.
Peter: But why did she have to die?
Sir James: (pause) I don’t know, boy.
reason he wrote the play into a novel i believe . pan didn't want to grow up cuz everyone who grows up has to die.
That's an honest answer as anyone can give
This scene always gets me.. You can really feel the pain... Its so magical... She lives in Neverland now so her dream came true :)

Wow. Freddie Highmore is an even better actor in this movie than he was in "August Rush." And he was 3 years younger here.
Excuse me Freddie is fantastic in all of his movies how dare you say that Freddie was good than he was in August rush🙄🙄🙄😤😤😤

Oh... I cannot watch this movie without crying...so wonderfully made...
I can't believe Freddie is now Norman Bates and is 24. I was only 1 when this movie came out, now I'm 13.
